Repenting for salvation involves a change in our thinking about sin and finally coming to the true realization that WE ARE ALL GUILTY helpless sinners already sentenced to separation from God for eternity. Repenting for salvation is also ACQUIRING FAITH in THE GOSPEL, that He has made us clean in the Spirit by TAKING OUR SINS FROM US and giving us the Spirit of eternal life if WE BELIEVE on His Word. Repenting for salvation IS NOT A WORK involving becoming sinless or OVERCOMING OUR SIN nature.
Hello dear Kloudes. You are so young, and I was once - but now I am old! You have really blessed me for understanding what too many olduns don't get! I feel a bit like Elijah at times, but you have confirmed that not everyone is tied up in assassinating the Character of God. I don't doubt the reality of their Salvation, but I do think too many muddle Justification with Sanctification. God bless you.
Repenting isnt a bad thing and is the ONLY action a person can take to RECEIVE the salvation God offers. Two men died on the cross with Jesus...BOTH wanted Jesus to save them...ONE called out to Jesus seeking for him to get him down from the cross but no such thing was granted to him. The other guys REPENTED of his sins to Jesus and Jesus swore to him the salvation He has indeed granted that man. RE as in "again" and PENT from the word "pinnacle" which means high point "is" TURNING to God.
(cont) You are correct in your analysis of Psalm 38, my point is repentance and being sorry for your sin work together not just when we are backslidden children of God but also when we are unsaved and of our father the Devil.
I think one of the best illustrations to understanding salvation is by using an analogy which goes as follows: Salvation is a hand. Regeneration, Justification, Adoption, Sanctification and Glorification would represent the fingers.
1.Regeneration- Your nature is changed
2.Justification-Your standing is changed
3.Adoption-You position is changed
4.Glorification-Your body is changed into an incorrupt vessel. (cont)
True, there is a difference between regeneration (getting saved) and sanctification(becoming more holy). However when reading all of the N.T. scriptures in concert and in context. It is clear that there must be repentance and belief for regeneration to take place. Psalm 38:18 with Acts 17:30, 20:21,26:20,II Cor 3:14-16.
First of all I'm not a Paul Washer fan. Ive never even heard him preach. I know nothing about the man, so I cant comment about him. Why don't you allow me to finish my comments before responding.
(cont) The questions I asked you are in my 1st and 2nd reponse to you. Rom 10:13 also read the following verse to complete the statement. Doesent this say you must believe? Now read Acts 20:21 and notice the order:repentance toward God first, then faith toward God. I agree that salvation is not complicated, I believe in eternal security of the believer. What I don't believe in is forced conversions. Now, please answer my questions.
I have never questioned the simplicity of salvation what I question is the sincerity of of a person's salvation. when someone is asked if they are saved or not and they tell you "Oh when I was young I went forward and said a sinners prayer". However, when you talk to them and observe them further you find out that they are no more regenerated than a man in the moon. They did not even understand what they were praying when they were supposedly saved. (cont)
You have failed to answer any of my questions. This is why I have not been charitable with you. You are doing nothing but trolling. Answer my questions first and then I will yours.
I'm well aware of what Rom 10 say's. I have no problem with confessing with the mouth and believing with the heart. What people like you don't seem to get is that repent has different meanings in the Bible. Look at the verses that I listed below for Kloudes under #3 and tell me what they mean or how they were out of context regarding repentance.
No, that is not what I said. What you believe along with your "pope" [Anderson], is that something magical happens when you say a little prayer. Do you or that heretic Anderson ever check up on these people that repeated a prayer that you lead them into saying to see if there has been any change in their lives? Do you believe that when a person get's saved that the fruit remains the same as before? Shouldn't there be a desire for desire for spiritual things?
There are all kinds of references to "repentance" in the Bible. The Bible even says God Himself has repented. "Repent" simply means to change your mind. Question: How does repentance apply to our salvation? Answer: We must change our mind from "unbelief to belief" ...that the Son of God has paid for all our sins by dying on that cross.
That being said, when Jesus told Nicodemus how to be saved, He never told him to repent. The thief on the cross was not told to repent. Phillip never told the eunuch to repent. When the Philippian jailer asked how to be saved, Paul never mentioned repentance.
So, either repentance is not needed or it is in fact included in believing on the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved. I never preach repentance because none of the men in these stories were asked to do so.
I think your second observation hits the nail on the head. Think about I John 1:6-9 and it's application.
For instance the scripture says we must believe "in" Jesus for salvation, but the Phillipian jailor was told to belive"on" for salvation, so which is it? Well it's both.
Now, notice that the thief knew he was guilty and Jesus was not. So when he asked the Lord to remember him,it looks like he was not just aware of his guilty condition had a change of mind as well.
Good question. Before I was saved I remember the first time I heard the gospel, it was a foreign concept to me in the sense that I thought I was just fine in my own self righteousness, I felt I had no need for a Saviour because I was an o.k. person.
It was not until I changed my mind about my condition that I was open to hearing and understanding that only a perfect Saviour could deliver me from my filtfhy rags. I hope this explains it?
Yeah. This does make a lot of sense. I have heard many different views on repentance (many involving some form of works) I believe this assessment of yours is accurate, though. It's kinda like getting a reality check. :)
Amen sister! It's very encouraging to see a young believer like yourself really searching for truth and not stuck in pre-conceived ideas by either a denomination or an individual. May the Lord bless you and guide you!
You are a true blessing! Heaven is going to be supremely rich for you! God is working through you profusely! You are hyper-Spirit-filled as is evident in your videos! God bless.
I'm glad that you are spreading truth in a world rife with lies!
Your comments are always so encouraging. It's nice having supportive comments today. Lol, last night I had a bunch of bad ones so this is a nice balance. :)
@deluxo7 Yes we must rightly divid, but its not rightly divde truth from err. It is rightly divide truth from truth! Because there is no err in the KJB Gods Words! But we have to make sure our doctrine lines up with the Bible!
All of the Bible is true, but we need to be able to read it right. I mean, look at all the people that want to justify getting drunk because Jesus turned water into wine in Cana. =/ I personally don't believe he would make anything alcoholic for his friends to drink...lol ^__^
I'm not sure about that on Luke 13:3, because the word "perish" is also used in John 3:16 to apply to going to Hell for ever. The word "perish" means "to be lost forever". If we don't repent(change our additude), we will be lost forever and go to Hell.
I also believe that when Jesus said "whosever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life" He was being literal. I guess such a stance would cause people to label me "easy-believism" or "1-2-3 pray after me" but I generally don't do the 1-2-3 thing usually. =/
I hope that my stance on this doesn't bother you too much.
okay. Let's say you are right about this. Well, look at what Jesus is talking to them about. Obviously there was some kind of pride in the hearts of these people. Jesus had to set them straight it seems regarding this. They seemed to believe that the people mentioned in this passage died because they were such terrible sinners. It almost seems like Jesus was giving them a reality check. We must humble ourselves and realize our need for a Saviour to get saved. Believe on Him :)

Yep, which explains why Jesus never told anyone to repent in the Gospel of John. He was telling them exactly how to be saved. ^_^

I think the way to understand and reconcile this is to understand the following:
1. A word can be used multiple ways, like the word "smote", it can mean to strike or to kill.
2. Repentance is a change of mind which produces a change of heart.
3. Repentance is neccesary for salvation couple Psalm 38:18 with Acts 17:30,26:20,II Cor 3:14-16.
4. Repentance is neccesary for the believer to get right with God, Rev 2:5, and see example in I Kings 8:47-48.
I hope this helps.
