  • whats with the music? wtf...

  • @TheRedStiffy kill yourself

    kthnxbye

  • God Bless J.R.R.Tolkien!!! What a Legend!

  • fingolfin and feanor best high elven kings...

  • Fingolfin lost the fight only for one reason: he got tired, beacuase he had to carry his 100 pound of guts around ;)

  • Fingolfin puts every hero character from LoTR to shame. The fellowship would piss at the though of fighting Sauron, who was a servant of Morgoth, who got challenged and nearly beat by Fingolfin in a 1vs1 combat scenario. The most badass Elf in history of all fiction.

  • Where do you get all the cool drawings?

  • first pic is not even fingolfin. he is feanor and there are seven sons of him swearing.

  • "I DARE YOU! COME OUT YOU COWARD! NOW ITS ME, OR YOU!!!"

By far most epic part in the Silmarillion and thanks to BG we get to enjoy it in the form of one of the most beast songs ever concieved by mankind!

  • I'm just reading the story about Túrin, son of Húrin. Beautiful. And I'm not going to be aggravated by stupid people who,,, Am I a nerd if I'm in love with these stories? Than beware the revenge of the nerds, Fucking dolt....

  • Seven times he wounded Morgoth, seven times he cried out, seven times did his minions cry out in anguish!!!!! truly the greatest warrior in middle earth!!

  • walking all alone to the hell, to dare the devil him self for a single match.

    that's Filgolfin lord of Noldor

  • the title of this song is not "fingolfin" but Time stands still

  • Comment removed

  • @toobularbells Congrats! You are really smart!

  • @toobularbells Sir You are about four years late. if your going to start corecting a little thing like that. On youtube anything with sound and pictures is a video.

  • umm the seal at the beginning, isnt that of earendil ont fingolfin?

  • where did you find these pistures dude?

  • Fingolfin is the MAN!!!

  • @ambereyes93 ekhm read the book before post, that stupidity

  • @NimrodElTzane

Er, I meant it as an expression :p

  • @ambereyes93 aaaah ;D sorry ;)

  • Blind Guardian /m/ O.o \m\

  • Fantastic ! The Video and Fingolfin on his own.

  • Sibirc is right. Also, @mormegil, don't forget that in that combat wounded Morgoth seven times, including one which caused Morgoth to limp afterwards.

  • @VestedJester and he never left angband until he was again defeated because fingolfin inflicted too much fear upon him

  • Fingolfin is deffinitely the baddest sonovabitch in the whole Silmarillion. He rode to Angband on his own, and basically challenged a god to singles combat.

  • @mormegil2 And not just that, wouldn't Morgoth been immortal, Fingolfin would've won. He was the by far better warrior than Morgoth.

  • @mormegil2 hey man if there was not this god damned rock in his way he would have crashed morgoth....personally he is my favorite char from silmarillion

  • @mormegil2 The thing that makes him so badass is that he was prolly close to winning versus that god xD "smote him 7 times" and then drove his sword through morgoths foot lol... I would LOVE to see fingolfin portrayed by peter jackson and a really good actor... *is amazed by the thought of how epic that would be*

  • @Tarimoth I vote for Christian Bale to play Fingolfin.

  • @violatione that... would be badass...

  • @Tarimoth Yes,that would be complete Epicness!

  • @mormegil2 wait

    what about tom?

  • @mormegil2 Moreover he won that battle. Morgoth is a valar and cannot die. Fingolfin ran him through 7 times but then he got tired.

  • @mormegil2 HELL YES!!!

  • @mormegil2

YES! He friggin walked right up to the gates of Angmar and called Morgoth out! Even the Balrogs who watched him entering wouldnt challenge him...they were scared ****less.

  • Ar-Pharazôn FOREVER

  • @Panz82 FUCK YOU MAN!!!!

  • @MisterDeepRot why? cause i said Ar-Pharazôn FOREVER? he is one of the baddest bastards in the silmarillion with ppl like Fingolfin or Fëanor

  • All those pics are mixed up....This is not fingolfin on all of them....Its Feanor! at losgar, and at the Teleris ships bording and at the swearing the oath with his seven sons !

  • @sibirc7 true

especially on the shipyard when Feanor steal the ships from Elven brothers

  • perfect song ♥.♥

  • who said he will be killed?

  • He is destined to die at the hands of Túrin Turambar wielding his sword Gurthang in Dagor Dagorath (The Final Battle).

But eventually Tolkien more or less abandoned the concept of a Final Battle.

  • well, you're right, but Tolkien wrote the final chapter of The Silmarillion about the prophecy of the Final Battle, but was Christopher to delete that chapter from the book.

  • morgoth/melkor cannot be killed, he was made of the earth along with his brothers. thats why he is in the void

  • is it melkor or sauron in 2:40

  • Melkor, there are no pictures of Sauron in this.

  • Perfect song to represent Fingolfin. =)

  • it had to be the final chapter of the Silmarillion, but Cristopher Tolkien chose to eliminate it. Turin will defeat Morgoth, and the Valar will throw him out of the world. Then the Valar will break up the world, and they will find the Silmarils...Feanor will choose to give them to Yavanna, who will give life again to the Trees. Then the sons of Ilùvatar will play a Second Music, and a new, pure and perfect world will begin, maybe..but if it won't happen, there will be the end of the world, maybe

  • uhhhhh. turin died after he killed morgoth's dragon

thats the way i read it

  • yes, but Tolkien wrote he will come back to fight against Morgoth in the Final Battle.

  • o, ok., u must have read the simarrilon, i only read the children of hurin

  • wow where did u imagine all this

  • utahraptor...read again the book and know what yer talking about before you yourself make immature replies to people who would make immature replies about the immature replies that came from a lack of accuracy in facts that the immature replies did reply immaturely upon the immature.......................etc......

  • guys what u say about turin is nothing but a joke it has nt been said anywhere that turin kills morgoth turin killed glaurung the first dragon of morgoth and what is more u cant kill morgoth no one can kill a vala only destroy his material form

  • ok so you should read a little more cause what people are trying to say is that Turin is supposed to come back lo life at the end of the world and it is he, not an elf nor any Valar who will kill morgoth, and that is a prophecy of either Manwe or Mandos i really cant recall

  • Nice video

in the Silmarillion ther is happening a lot and there is to bad that it is alot less known than the lord of the ring

  • if i remember correctly Turin wounds Morgorth but does not kill him, b/c morgoth is held forever cative by the Valor

  • Fingolfin wounds Morgoth, but Túrin will kill Morgoth at the Dagor Dagorath

  • nooooooooo..turin cant defeat melkor

  • no melkor is cast out of arda at the moment...tolkien was still writing more, christophe tlkien gave clues of him being out of ea with eru

  • at the moment he's out of Arda...but he will find a way to come back...that's what Tolkien wrote

  • The song is "Time stands still (at the iron hill)" by Blind Guardian from "Nightfall in Middle Earth" their best album in my opinion.

It's a concept album based on stories from Silmarillion.

    Nice video by the way.

  • Turin vs Fingolfin. Who wins?

Turin is the greatest warrior I think.

  • I think Earendil (killed Ancalagon and maybe Ungoliant),Hurin(called the greatest warrior of men),Tuor(killed multiple balrogs),Turin,Aragorn,Fingolfin are the greatest. But I think of them Fingolfin is the greatest elf for taking on Morgoth and Turin for what he did despite a cursed life (plus he is the one who will kill Morgoth for good at the Dagor Dagorath). Personally,my money's on Fingolfin because he probably had hundreds more years to train

  • Im sticking with Turin. I think because Morgoths thought is bent on causing Turin misery it in a way makes him invincible as how can he suffer if he is killed. Add the black sword, being the son of Hurin and trained by the elves gives him a slight edge. Fingolfin a close second and then all the greats after that.

  • Yes that's true, Turin had to die by his own hand due to the way Morgoth's curse played out. Fingolfin did have Ringil though ;) What's also interesting to note is that there aren't too many heroes of legendary stature among the dwarves while there's quite a few for elves and men....

  • dwarves are kinda set back when it comes to battle, XD

if i was the dark lord, and a dwarf came to face me i'd probably start laughin, even though i think dwares are awesome

  • Tolkien based his dwarves on sterotypical Medieval viewpoint for jews \

Jews dont have very many heroes (David , Shamgar , Caleb, Sampson) of course their are the judges but those four are the only ones that have a great feat such as slaying a giant or a whole slew of men. whereas look at Europeans Beowulf , Siegfried, Roland, THe whole greco roman pantheon. need i continue our culture is more warlike .

  • @timenyart Don't forget about Hank Greenberg

  • Tolkien didnt hate Jews and actually portrayed Jews through his Dwarves favorably as serious minded and calculating on the costs and risks and hard working so his dwarves arnt going to slay a dragon just for no reason unless its for revenge just as Isreal and modern day Isreal dont go around conquering peopl they usually fight a defensive war or they retaliate

  • Dwarves are awsome and the fact their based on jews only makes me like them more

  • I never see it like that!!!! The dwarves are jews, they are greedy basterds ha ha ha...

  • Your right about the dwarves there although it could be said that Illuvatar created Men and Elves and the dwarves were created by the one of the Valar who became impatient and therefore created an imperfect race. Dwarves handle fire and dragons much better than elves and men. I hope that the Silmarillion is made into a film(s). It would be epic to see the great moments of the story on the big screen and untampered like LOTR. Gandalf vs Witch King a huge let down for me.

  • Dwarves aren't a part of the original song is why. Despite being granted life, they were still creations of Aule and somewhat repressed in their ability for greatness.

  • Fingolfin awsome your video not really bad music

scenes depicting the deeds of feanor in which Fingolfin hated but would not betray his brother

and Turin killed Galrung not morgoth stupid and then turn went suicide good greif

  • u got it wrong morgoth will die by the hand of turin turambar for al the paint that caused him! in the dagor dagorath hehe

  • I'm pretty sure if you read my above comment I mentioned clearly (in parantheses) how Turin will kill Morgoth for good at the Dagor Dagoreth. Please read before you make immature replies

  • why inmature what is ur problem get a life

  • He was the father of Turgon, king of Gondolin.

  • umm, i forget, fingolfin, was he the king of gondolin, or the father of the king of gondolin

  • Hi,

He was the High King of the Noldor, and the father of Turgon (who was the king of gondolin), he was also the mightest, bravest warrior of all the children of eru. When he finally went to battle Morgorth he had managed to contain him for years, but he believed it had been lost due to misinformation. Hence his fury.

  • children of eru?

    thats the elves, right?

  • Children of Eru, was the Elves, Men and by adoption the Dwarves. The Dwarves were created by Aule but did not have free will until it was bestowed by Eru/ Illuvatar.

  • i see, thx

  • Your welcome

  • swampman is such a numbskull(sorry swampman bu u deserve many bad bad names to be bestowed upon you) pansy lover...ppl like that,i dont fucking know where they can come up wih a philosophy like that. For Tolkien's sake every godamned man that was worth a mention(Beren Camlost,Hurin Thalion and Huor,Tuor ,the mightiest Agarwaen, the son of Umarth wich is Turin Turamar and of coarse Earendil). Also Dior the Beautyful...who's blood is of Mankind,Elvenkind and the holy Ainu. All where elf-fosterdNLernd

  • while i agree with what you say, its hard to read xD

  • who gives a shite about elves or dwarves or whatever? cant you ppl just stick to reading the books without trying to re invent or bitch at each other

  • lol people Elves are not wimps. They exiled themselves to fight Morgoth, thats why they are in Middle Earth to begin with. Except the Avari. They left middle-earth because they were weary and there age had come to an end, they, stepped aside gracefully for man...who represents Melkor the most. Elves are the greatest, read up on Glorfindel or Feanor or Fingolfin.

  • yeah but its all because feanor made a prat of himself.

  • feanor is the best for me....

for the rest you said is all right

  • you son of a bitch

  • Comment removed

  • You bastard. Elves fought in many battles. They had already done their part in the war against Sauron and they didn't run naked through the woods. You are a @#$%, Swampman03. You are a thoughtless, empty-headed, unknowledgable son of a bitch and a piece of bullshit.

  • actually, almost every battle that elves fought in had men in them... without men, elves can barely manage... elves are cross dressing pansies and if you take offense u are 2... nothing you can tell me will let me think they are cool... elves are as gay as Liberace himself... they love to cross swords in the bedroom

  • What about the Battle-under-stars? Or the battles in Lothlorien? Or the First Battle? What about the Glorious Battle? How about the wars in Mirkwood? None of these battles had men in them and the elves won them. When the Witch King attacked Arnor, a kingdom of men, the men were utterly defeated. Glorfindel, an elf-lord, came and drove the Witch King away when none of the men could. Oh, and did you ever hear of a guy elf wearing a dress? I haven't.

  • your points are not worth rebuking. ill state simply this: you are gay

  • I know you are but what what am I lol... Really i dont hate elves, just nerds who stick up for imaginary beings that reside in books... if they were real i'd probably be friends with those cross- dressing fairies... that or chillin with some dwarves... and hating the elves homo ways

  • you're the one who jumped in feigning some deep-seeded dislike of fictional characters and calling people gay who dont share the same view, so dont pull the "nerds getting their panties in a bunch" slant. thats your deal

if youre truly attempting to assess the "manliness" of elves by Tolkien's portrayal, simply know that you're wrong, and if you're a fan of Tolkien, read LOTR and The Silmarillion again so that you take away a more accurate characterization of elves than "cross-dressing fairies"

  • everything you have just said is amazing lol. you had me laughing the whole time. i am a very devoted fan of lord of the rings (And all other middle earth related books) Tolkien's love for the elves is well placed, but i happen to like every other race more than them. elves to me seem like big pansies. though they are powerful and kind, they are too wimpy for my tastes. they were defeated too many times to count in the books, and didn't live up to the title-the children of illuvatar in my eyes.

  • on top of that, i was just playin around when i said you guys were gay... im just implying that elves = fairys and if you like them than you are a fairy 2 hahahahahahah

  • notice the only men in the silmarillion of any honorable mention are those with elven blood (the numenoreans) or those who served elves in the wars of beleriand.

and come on...fingolfin riding across the battlefield with his eyes blazing like a Vala while all his enemies flee in terror...maiming Melkor in single combat....that's wimpy? yes he was exceptional, but characteristic of most elves. they bested men in strength and in beauty...that doesnt make them gay.

  • the stories of men in the silmarillion were the longest and most exciting stories in the book... the tales of beren, turin and etc all had longer chapters and were much more enjoyable to read in my opinion... and if im not mistaken beren (with the help of an elven female)- which is cool with me... injured morgoth as well... and aided in defeating most of morgoths best warriors... turin killed glaurung.... and everybody else... lol but all male olves are still gay

  • @swampman03 Maybe Ar-Phárazon the golden was one of ur ancestors, crying mortal...

  • This is really good.

  • I hate people! It is the worst nation ever. worse than orcs. The most greedy, violent and mean.

It is very sad that they stayed in Middleearth and Melkor and Sauron didn't destroy them))

  • Comment removed

  • Elves were so not wimps! Men suck... you son of a bitch! Elves were so much better than men! You %#$&*!

  • Star in the night!

The best and stronger king ever.

  • If Melkor was mortal and fair he would have been crushed by Lord Fingolfin.

  • noooooooo, no offense yh, but what the hell r u talking about!!!!!!!!!, never!!!!!!!!!, firstly, melkor/morgoth is tfrom the ancient race of the ainur (so is sauron), and the ainur are the most powerful race ever to touch middle earth, fingolin will stand no chance.

  • you gotta admit he had balls to call him out like that in single combat. Its what I would have done.

  • Sauron was not of the Ainur, he was of the maia, as was teh wizards.

  • Comment removed

  • Sauron was of the Ainur, but he was a maia too.

  • melkor is a god,as powerfull as iluvatar.he only can be defeated by a god, never by lower

    Creatures

  • As powerful as ilivatar? He was The most powerfulof the Valar, but he lost a lot of his

power when he ,,turned" to Morgoth and became mortal.

And all Valar together are not as powerful as Iluvatar!

  • ahh not as iluvatar^^ sry^^as manwe!! he became morgoth when faenor called him so.did he become mortal becaus of this??

  • he never became mortal he just lost most of his special ainur powers

  • Fingolfin was avenged when his great-grandson, Earendil, who brought ruin to Morgoth, by delivering the Silmaril (that Beren and Luthien won) to Valinor, sparking the War of Wrath. (Fingolfin-->Turgon-->Idril Turgon's daughter--->Earendil)

  • He didn't think there was going a "later" for the noldor. After losing the battle against morgoth he thought that the noldor would be destroyed and thus he decided to face morgoth alone.

  • He was truly a brave king, but he could have holded his wrath and use himself later, in times of true need for sacrifice..

  • I love this movie. After the Battle of Sudden Flame Fingolfin thought the Noldor would be utterly destroyed. In a fit of madness, he rode to Angband and challenged Morgoth. Fingolfin wounded Morgoth seven times but grew weary. Morgoth crushed him and Thorondor the great eagle carried the body away to be buried.

  • To the greatest of the Noldorin Princes.

    Cheers.

  • Fingolfin hits melkor seven times before death by the hands of the valar

  • What is the name of this song? Could I find the lyrics somewhere?

  • Time Stands Still (at the Iron Hill) by Blind Guardian from the album Nightfall in Middle Earth. The lyrics should be easily available online.

  • Thank you!

  • 1v1 against Morgoth disagrees with you.

    Fingolfin was the original badass.

  • most of the begining pics are of melkor

  • aqui vai um commentário de um tuga q gostou do video.

  • Nice video...song just ruined it

  • the song is about fingolfin. thts prolly why he used it

  • nice vid...horrible music though.

  • agree

  • Yeah but the song is about Fingolfin and alot of those Scandanavian metal and black metal bands are HUGE LOTR fans.

  • i admire their passion completely. I dont mean any offens, but thats my commnt. All that shouting and what not is really terrible....sorry. Rock on tolkien fans!

  • bravheart fingolfin

  • There are 4 dragons named in Tolkien's works; Glaurung was slain by Turin turambar; Ancalagon was destroyed by Earendil; Scatha fell to Fram of the Eotheod; and Smaug was shot down and killed by Bard of Dale. There is also a cold-drake mentioned (non fire-breathing dragon) that slew some of Durin's folk outside of Moria, but nothing is said of it's fate.

  • Would be good if they got Alan Lee to do a picture of Fingolfin riding to Angband to confront Morgoth with his eyes gleaming with elven fury!

  • what'a the song name

  • Time Stand Still (At the iron Hill) - Blind Guardian

  • yea he killed dragon but i talk about Melkor which called Morgoth by elves...

  • maybe turin could defeat morgoth

  • Comment removed

  • In fact the second prophecy of Mandos tells that one day Morgoth will escape his prison at the end of the world and destroy the sun and the moon, and during Dagor Dagorath (The battle of all battles), the Valar and all the free people of Arda will confront Melkor's armies, with Sauron, the dragons and the Balrogs brought back to life.

And it will finally be Turin Turambar who will plunge his black sword Gurthang into Morgoth's heart, so that the existence of Arda can be renewed.

  • Where do you find that prophecy? Unfinished tales?

  • In fact you can find it in the Silmarillion, in The Shaping of Middle-Earth and in The Lost Road. I read it in the Silmarillion though I don't remember where exactly in the book.

  • Fingolfin was said to be the strongest, most steadfast, and most valiant of Finwë's sons, and some have named him the greatest warrior of all the Children of Ilúvatar

    Fingolfin is the best! =)

  • Yeah Fingolfin!!! The greatest of all the elves of old!!!

  • and your a nerd adriamm45

  • Well, Silmarillion shows very many simularities to Old Norse Mythology. the entire story (that is, in general: leave out the Silmarills and Feanor rash oath and look at the mythologicall in it) is nearly, but quite not, the same, although it was long ago i read about it. either way, Feanor, Hurin, Turin, and that elf whose name i can never remember who blinded by jealousy against Tuor betrayed Gondolin - the book is full of tragedies, as you say, propably inspired by greek mythology

  • Meaglin son of Eöl (Turgons nephew) :)

  • Just a curiosity i thought of whilst watching; The Iliad.

What i mean is, can anyone else see traits of Achillies in Feanor and Hector in Fingolfin. I think its intresting how their 'virtues' and traits are show through their death and how they are regarded by readers. (anyone else see that or is it me being mad and having too much time on my hands?) :-p

  • Hail Fingolfin! High King of the Noldor, Marrer of Morgoth!

  • Thingol and Finarfin rule.

  • maglor

  • Fëanor all the way. Compared to him all the rest of the cast are boring. :P No, the rest are great too. Thanks for the great vid!

  • Feanor forever!

  • fingolfing has dark hair like his sons or blonde hair like his mother??

I think than he has dark hair like his sons and only finarfin has blond hair, somebody can clarify my doubt please

  • Feanor traped him self into his greatness and failed to see anything else .fingolfin was wiser but beeing a hero doent mean to defeat your enemy.finrod felagoud was the geatest hero along with beleg kouthalion.we all can defend what is ours and fight for glory but can we all sacrafice our selfs for frienship and love???thats what i think

  • Turín Turamabar was a great fighter. Feanor was great, but not the best. Beren was a true fighter, but not the best. There will never be a greater fighter than Tulkas, and not many had more wisdom than Olorín, Luthíen, and Melian.

  • ohhh yes i forgott he^^

    Tulkas 4 President

  • Mandos 4 president lol
