  • Thank you very much for sharing how to draw celtic knots!! And thanks to your calligraphy teacher who taught you you this so you can teach us now! :) I've always loved the intricate pattern they make and I would like to use it in more of my paintings and wood sculptures, but I think it's been a bit hard to make my own patterns since I couldn't quite understand the system behind of making them. But with your video I think I finally start to realise how to do! Thanks again! :) - Robin

  • @Esets Robin, I am glad it 'clicked'! Even after all these years, drawing a knot still amazes me - the method and how it works. I'm going to do another video soon that will show more patterns. Watch for it!

Thanks for the great comment. - roc

  • soo difficult for me.. mine looks like a bunch of lines.. =(

  • @PJS82595 Keep trying. You will get it - and when you do, you will see the magic. As though a light has been turned on. You will just love knowing how to do this.

    - roc

  • This was very helpful! I am a young Celt in Scotland learning my cultures art, this made it look so easy! Thank you. Tapadh leabh!

  • @superraptor65 You're very welcome. I'm glad you liked it. - roc

  • THANKS ALOT!! UR AWESOME!!

  • Nice! I will try it out! What type of pens do you use to trace and color/fill in? Does it bleed through the paper?

  • @amywyse Ah. You ask about the pens. If I am just playing around, I'll use what ever is at hand. A fine felt tip is good - a Flair, brand new, before the tip gets squishy. A fine Sharpie doesn't bleed the lines too badly and with a bit better quality paper, it won't bleed through the paper. For a "good" knot, I'll use India ink, black and waterproof, in an art pen with a fine nib. Koh-i-noor (Rapidograph) is perfect. For filling in, if you've used waterproof ink, the lines won't bleed. - roc

  • I can draw a bad ass stick figure! :3

  • @Chronictmforthew Bravo! - roc

  • Simple, but fascinating. Thanks.

  • @Offshoreorganbuilder No problem. I'm glad you liked it. - roc

Get a move on! I really would like to see!

I'm glad you found my Celtic knot and took the time to comment.

    - roc

  • This is awesome. It took me awhile to learn it but I think it has finely sunk in, a suggestion to your followers is to make the dots and walls with ink, and then use pencil for your lines, I had to do a lot of erasing before finely getting it down, Thank you so much for your instructions.

  • @47lizzi Yes, that is a good idea when you are just learning! I'm glad you've enjoyed and mastered the method! Have fun with it - your friends will be amazed! - roc

Bill Connolly cartoonist and artist extrodinare.

  • @MsGOKL Yes - when you are learning, graph paper is ideal, but the dots makes it easy. - roc

  • okay now i just have to be a master of writing

  • does there need to be like an even number of dots length and width wise? or does it not matter? i wanna make one. i love them. i love drawing geometric and cool designs. keeps me busy and outta trouble or moms way.

DO YOU KNOW OTHER DESIGNS? SIMILAR TO THIS ONE? OR COMPLETELY DIFFERENT? I LOVE WATCHING YOU DRAW. THX

  • AWESOME thank you SO much!

  • @FireflyIsland You're welcome. I am really glad you liked it. - roc

  • WAIT CAN YOU DO IT ON A WHOLE PIECE OF GRAPH PAPER? or only 4*4?

  • @hsukrystin1995 Yes, you can make them as big as you want. It is better if you add some barriers to create a design. I am glad you have enjoyed this! - roc

  • Thank you very much! My first one was a bit wonky, but I am sure I will become better ;P

  • @shinypokemon1000 I am sure you will become a PRO!! Enjoy. Message me if you have problems. - roc

  • @popparoc46 Hehe, I am definately becoming better, but i ran out of paper :(

  • @shinypokemon1000 I feel your pain! Go and get a pad of quad paper ... or, if you can find it, 5 squares to the inch paper. It is the best for practice.
