  • Excellent layout. Great work!

  • its getting colours right that I struggle with.

I am about to re build my layout but this time I have a plan in mind rather than making it up as I go along!

  • Enjoyable layout! Question: That warehouse building at 0:20. Is this a kit you purchased or is it something you kitbashed? It looks very nice and it's the type of structures I'm looking to put on my shelf layout. - Thanks.

  • very nice layout. impressive job on the weathering of your engines too!

  • Very nice set... Like the idea of the track crew in the tunnel...

  • yes it is set in the 1920's through the 1930's although i have desiel engines i don't run them all the time.it is dc controlled i use blocks with switches to control the power where i want it.its kind of old school railroading.thanks for the comments

  • I love your layout. I always wanted to do one very similar to this. I live in Western Pa, and I'm 14. I want to start one (either O or HO guage) but I don't have the time. Anyway, Great layout and keep posting videos! Thanks for all the ideas, and if I may ask, what year are you dating this to? Between 1925 and 1933? By the way, is that a DC controler I saw? And Being you have multiple Engines, how are you controling each one? Thanks again, P.McElfresh.

  • its a mrc sound station that i use with my steam engines.i would like to get a walkaround for the the layout they are really neat i am also old school and run dc.

  • The smaller control to the left of the larger control on the layout, is that a DC control for your layout? I want to get a hand held control for my layout but, I'm not doing the DCC set-up. I'm old school and the sounds just aren't that important to me. Thanks again, the layout looks terrific!

  • A nice start good luck buddy

  • Looks very realistic. I like the way you have it set up. Access to everything looks real easy and the access panel for derailments is a great idea. Looking forward to the finished product. I'm starting construction on my layout today and was just shopping around on here to get inspiration when I came across your layout. You've given me a few great ideas! Thanks for sharing.

  • wonderful layout... thanks for posting the video

  • my wife is great and she even paints all my figures for me.

  • Nice Layout I hope to have a better one of my own someday.I hope to see yours when it's finished. You have a great Wife who'd let you do that.

  • Really cool layout, cant wait to see those tree covered mountians

  • thanks can't wait to get started on it again this winter.

  • I'm impressed with what I've seen here, and thanks for providing me with inspiration for my own model railroad project.

  • i got mine through trainworld i just checked ebay and they got them on there just type spectrum k-4.let me know how you make out.

  • i know its greedy or a stupid question but where did you ever buy that k4 i cant find one anywhere

  • Great buildings! Keep up the great work!

  • Great layout buddy, I wish you were in my area of Illinois. We could run some trains. lol

  • First ofall you did a great job with the camera, second it's abeatifull layout. I myself just got back in to the hooby,I model the moder era, but I love the alltime eras somehow the detail looks alot better. That coverbridge looks awsome that mountain its big ,I can wait to see what you will do with it,5 stars.

  • witch one are you talking about

  • what does that little controller do

  • Great layout, 5 stars. Thanks for sharing

  • Nice layout, what does your track plan look like

  • cool layout, whats the size of it and what did you use to create the mountains?

  • The layout is 17by10by6 like a j figure the mountains are rolled up news paper covered in plaster cloth when it dried i removed all the news paper by removing the board that you see. the mountains will aventually be covered in 6 to 8 inch trees. thanks

  • love your layout looking forward to your next series of videos. you probaly know who it is i sent you a comment before

  • Very nice work. I am thinking about getting back into the hobby after a 20 year layoff. I live in York PA, and my dad and grandparents were from Muddy Creek Forks. PRR and M & P is all I saw most of my life. Your covered bridge and Mill reminded me of the visits to my grandparents in the 1950's. I think my dad used to ride that gas powered train to Red Lion Pa for a quarter!

  • Thanks for the comment good to here that you might get back into it again. If you have any questions feel free to ask. thanks

  • i like it

  • Extra layout great job 5*

  • @Joshishoard like rjgmsg said, you will most likely want DCC. mow im a begineer too and found info on youtube about it. a good DCC system is NCE Power Cab, its about $130-$180 i believe. you will need that kit, and either DCC ready locomotives or Locomotives that you can put a decoder in and make them DCC ready yourself. decoder go about $20 each, its liek the recieving end of a radio transmission.

  • you should create more videos your layout is awsome

    please do some more videos

  • another video will be out around feb or march i am currently painting rail because last year i added another small yard around where the coaling tower is in the video. it takes alot of time to do this because its just me i don't have any one helping me.thanks for the comment its people like you that inspire me even more. merry christmas

  • @rjgmsg Hello. Nice job on the railroad! I love it! I see you used the woodland scenics foam roadbed, like I did. Also I was wondering, are you painting your rails by hand with that Joe's Model Trains Rusty Rail Painter, which has a small foam wheel that you dip into the paint? Enjoy!

  • I just use acrylic paint that you would buy from a arts and craft store.I appley it using a small brush. I think the color is burnt umber. It seems to stick and hold up very well.thanks

  • how did you make the mountain

  • hey i just watched your video and i love your layout..

have you considered making an update i would love to see one

  • Great job on the layout and video. Love seeing other layouts and all the work put in to them.

    Thanks for sharing it online!

  • I run a dc layout with blocks.you can run 2 trains on this but they will run the same speed.you need to run dcc to do what you want to do i do not know alot about dcc but any local train shop will be glad to help you out i hope this helps you out good luck

  • Amasing layout it is what I would have build if my pockets where deeper if you get what I am saying.

  • i here ya i have been working tons of overtime to stock pile what i need for about the next 1 to 2 years the stuff does not get any cheaper.

  • you can never be done with a layout. There is always a tree to add here and some rolling stock to get and add.

  • Can you make a update vid. it really is nice!

  • i saw photoes of this

  • sorry for the delay on responce i have been working alot i plan on making another video next winter but i did ad another small yard in front of the coaling tower for more cars and engines.

  • Great stuff! I also noticed when you finish this section, you have room to expand. I'm a carpet railroader for now and I modeled mine for 1947 with UP & DRGW I put put a vid up if you want to see, "model trains big boy 4015 & challengers" Can't wait to see your layout in What? a year or so?

  • thanks for the comment and send me a video i love those challengers. it will be next winter for the next video i am working alot right now

  • A great video and a great layout rjgmsg! Videos like yours are great motivators to go and do that little bit more on my own layout. Many thanks and keep up the good work!

  • "so with permission from the wife", I need tips to get my wifes permission! Great video, thanks for putting up.

  • Begging and grovelling seems to work the best. You can also say that it's a great hobby for the kids! Keeps'em off the streets and she'll know what they're doing!

  • Very nice layout. Love the detail in the design and the fact that you explain the train type and devotion to the ma and pa railroad. It is a great hobby!

  • Nice job on the layout . I tought that the MA&PA was still a working railroad. Or was this taken over by the Western Maryland? Keep up the nice work.

  • You have an amazingly detailed layout, and its not even "finished" yet!

Very nice scenery and ballast, too!

  • VERY NICE layout and video rjgmsg!

I've been hooked on MRRing since '56 and been in & out of the hobby 4 times. I just started to

build my 4th layout and it's every bit as much fun as the other 3!
