How to fix Visual Voicemail Unavailable problem on iPhone, iPhone 3G, or iPhone 3GS

1 phone call to 02 no fix, then a visit to an 02 guru no fix, then a call to 02 no fix so thery sent a new handset.

This had same voicemail issue!!

Didn't work. Just made it so that the voicemail button in the phone brings a message that the call cannot be completed as dialed.

Hey everyone this might sound crazy but i fixed mine...all i did was turn enable 3g>turn on cellular data>turn on data roaming..couldn't believe it was that easy

I have done all the steps listed below and no return of voice mail.  Was on AT&T for 40 minutes until getting to a technician. Solution was to go to Setting>Reset> Rest all settings. Recycle iPhone 4, and Bingo, Viausl Voicemail returns.

All you have to do is to restore your iphone as a new one with Itunes.

If anybody is looking to fix this problem, I just figured it out after many months of trying.

Try this:

1:Setting—> General —->Profile

there is an ATT button which is unconfirmed Press REMOVE , it should work perfectly

if u enable tethering it fools the ATT and open up a port which block the VVM System kinda conflict with the same port so try it and let me know

mine works perfect ive been trying everything such as manually setup , reseting and etc,,,

@JonGarrett2008 try going to settings>general>network>profi­le and uninstall the thing for tethering

if u cant find it just look for profile n ur settings. u just have to uninstall the 1 u installed for tethering and stuff. just remove it and it'll work again

I dont know what the problem was but I eventually fixed it by wiping everything from my iphone and restoring it and re-jailbreaking it like 4 times.

I think the problem was with my apps, I use Rock (similar to cydia) to back up apps and I think the back ups was corrupt.

yeah, I have aptbackup, chronus and pkgbackup but neither of the did a complete back up, neither did rock for that matter so if all 4 failed then I figured it had to be my back up that was messed up so I just reinstalled everything and it worked.

Thanks for this clear diagnostic. My iPhone (3G) voicemail was afflicted with the red dot, but your prescription cured the problem. I don't understand why the red dot came, but I am very happy it is gone and the visual voicemail is working fine again.
