  • In addition: Maestro Su was / is interested in speed and movement, so trapping and throwing come at the end of the 3 part process. First circle: closes the distance, Second, more control of the body through the forearm, trapping and sensing of the person's balance begins here (you may have to change sides if he's too strong on one side), finally once the appropriate mid-range strikes, traps, un-balancing moves are made, then a throw or some other finishing move is possible.

  • Con't: also I would say, you don't really need to study under SU, he can be a bit cruel.. it's enough to study his videos IMHO, and work out a non-cruel way of doing Hsing-i, Ba-kua...at least that my aikido/Buddhist philosophy coming through..

  • hi fallingleaves, the problem, I feel, is that all the arts lead to the same place if you train independently and don't let authorities dictate the truth. The truth, it seems to me, requires you to ask 'how do I get the man down, how do I unbalance this kata, what is its 'true' significance (and various applications), what effect will this strike have etc. Obviously, people don't like being experimented on, so the amount of discovery here depends on your theory on what works...'evolution' is one

  • Su Dong Chen uses the same wrapping, slapping, trapping moves...but we used 3 different speeds and three circles. Small circle at the closeness of the hand, forearm circle and the big one for strikes or throws. Look up the bear techniques in Hsing-i.

  • @kingofaikido - this was a few years back, I had to watch it again. There's some good stuff here. I've never met anyone who trained with Su seriously, but Su looks like he knows what he's doing fo sho.

  • 曾家意力拳第2代传人 - 曾帆祥! :)

  • Good demo of horizontal spin and bridging the gap.
