I like this version and i like the mark boals version on inspiration and i like them for different reasons, if im being honest, i like both versions better than the original. perhaps because they are more polished than the original. either way, different can and sometimes is better. keeping in mind this is one fan's opinion. yours may and probably does vary :)

Absolutely beautiful! Anyone ever notice (even when you were listening to In Rock), that this song starts exactly like Bombay Calling on It's A Beautiful Day's self titled debut from '69? I'm not bitchin'. I love it all.
It seems that some critics fail to understand that peolple like Blackmore are eclectic. He didn't rest on a fossilized past of platinum laurels. He moved on to new horizons, exploring new musical dimensions. He can do the past rock act anytime, should he want to. He decided to call it a day and is now garnering new acclaim in medieval folk rock. No mean feat - how many musicians can be so versatile? Sit back and listen to his new genre... or move over. I'm a diehard Purple fan who compromised.

Sounds fine to me - this song works for anyone who can play & sing, especially if Ritchie Blackmore is playing electric guitar on it. Doesn't he play well? None of that despairing gratuitous chaos he was reduced to with DP, just music. The problem with Blackmore's Night is mainly that their songs are dreadful and have dreadful lyrics. They'd be great if they stuck to *good* songs rather than insisting on flooding the world with yet more disposable "new" songs that should never have been written.
I always liked Mr Evans myself, but I listen to every phase of Purple and enjoy them all for what they are, though I'm perma burnt on Smoke On The Water.

Well that flute spoilt everything, Child in time was kinda mistic, near Stairway to heaven was the best ballads of that times, it was about the cold war, but not only, it was about loneliness of the individual, about the struggle for live, that's my opinion, and this flute and dance of these girl just tragic in that moment, mój rodak pisze kicha, blamaż, profanacja ja dodam kaszana

Well.. the original is of course better than this one. The great guitar playing of Ritchie Blackmore was obviously not the only thing which made the song so great..

It seems that some critics fail to understand that peolple like Blackmore are eclectic. He didn't rest on a fossilized past of platinum laurels. He moved on to new horizons, exploring new musical dimensions. He can do the past rock act anytime, should he want to. He decided to call it a day and is now garnering new acclaim in medieval folk rock. No mean feat - how many musicians can be so versatile? Sit back and listen to his new genre... or move over. I'm a diehard Purple fan who compromised.

Sounds fine to me - this song works for anyone who can play & sing, especially if Ritchie Blackmore is playing electric guitar on it. Doesn't he play well? None of that despairing gratuitous chaos he was reduced to with DP, just music. The problem with Blackmore's Night is mainly that their songs are dreadful and have dreadful lyrics. They'd be great if they stuck to *good* songs rather than insisting on flooding the world with yet more disposable "new" songs that should never have been written.
