This is so sad. I am american and love Bollywood films, but after 10 years of watching, I'm starting to get turned off by not seeing the diversity of the country in the films. At least Hollywood shows the diversity of this country. Bollywood seems to try to hide their darker people as if they are an embarrassment. How sad for you all.

I dont agree u are only talking about bollywood which only produce hindi movies .WE have a equally strong movie industry in south india.We are the only country which makes movies in all its different languages with different cultural backgroung.U need too do some more research.

Actually, I have seen some both Tamil films as well. Surya and Mammooty are 2 favorites of mine and I have seen some films with Tabu, Juhi Chawla, and Jackie Shroff who are also Bollywood actors, very talented, and versitile. Bollywood just happens to make more films than even Hollywood. I am a fan of foreign films in general, so I don't see the need to do a lot of research on Indian cinema. Thank you for the information.

Bollywood make more films than Hollywood but most are low-budget films or flops. Compare box-office scores, Hollywood goes way far, global! Other countries often mimic Hollywood films. Majority Bollywood films are LOVE STORIES, they seem to sell better. Seems over 90% bollywood films have songs. Sometimes the songs are MORE POPULAR than the movie itself. Two things to look forward to bollywood films: a good song and hot chicks/hunks! Acting, average! Storyline, typical usual, love, some action!

There's more Bollywood films then whats shown in Hindi language, there is a huge range of films with not so famous actors/actresses and pure indians also(so not mixed-ie slightly white)

bollywood is situated between northern and southern india. most north indians are fair like kareena ,ayesha,priety,urvashi,katrina­,sonia jehan,kangana,celina. bollywood gets major exports from north india and pakistan where people are fair that is why.

in hindi films only fair girls gets the chance to act. in hollywood movies black stars like halle barry have got awards. but if she was in india i think the film producers will only spit at her. there are many beautiful women in india who are relatively dark. but they never get chances in movies or beauty contests. this is discrimination. i think people should boycott watching hindi movies.

i agree with nadiajayjay. i can show many black stars who have been spit at. but definitely tht could be because they dont have much acting skills than their counterpart. Even here too its the talent which matters foremost. what do u say about kajol, konkana sen, mallika sherawat, esha deol, bipasha basu....... they are all dark. but still are much liked by many.

nandita das - she herself doesnt want to work in commercial movies bt i atleast love her and she is respectable in bollywood.

Smita patel- she is considered one of the best actresses of her times and guess what she never even tried to show she isnt dark.
