Pues yo una vez escuchado me parece bueno el cambio, incluso parece que vuelven a los discos pasados, al buen sonido, incluso Slije me recuerda por momentos a Anneke, resumiendo, con el cambio no han ido a peor para nada, aunque Anneke seguira en nuestro recuerdo, claro.

Me enamorè de esta cancion al escucharla. La voz, la cancion realmente te llega. Hay comentarios q dicen "Esta es la copia de Anekke". Me parece un comentario algo tonto, pues no le veo por ningun lado que intentè copiarla. Silje venía haciendo un trabajo similar en su anterior banda Octavia sperati. Ah, y además en vivo mantiene la misma calidad vocal q en estudio.

Aunque presiento que en el futuro volverá Anneke, y junto a Silje harán el álbum más impresionante de The Gathering...

yo he visto a Anneke en directo en la sal bikini en barcelona y su presencia y su voz era impresionante,un complemento perfecto para la atmospherica musica que desarrolla The Gathering.Cuando supe su marcha me jodio mucho pero ahora al escuchar la nueva cantante me alegra saber que la linea del grupo sigue tan genial como siempre!!!!!

Siljes voice is really beautiful, and I've seen some live videos where she sound really perfect!!!... They've made the right choice chosing her as the new vocalist!!! ;D

Esta canción les quedó padre, es la que más me gusta del disco. Lo único que sí no me pareció fué (me van a linchar xD) la colaboración con Marcela, canta bien, pero se me hace que está muy sobrevalorada. Eso que ni qué tiene muchísimo mejor voz que muchísimas otras...que no mencionaré :P
Si es que vienen a México y no hacen el concierto en un día feo (entre semana, como el de Anathema ¬¬), sin duda iré a verlos.

I came into this album with such trepidation, but I was pleasantly surprised on how great it is! The vocals are excellent, and even though no-one can replace Anneke, the vocalists do an excellent job! Well done Gathering, you haven't let me down yet! :)
This album is very good. Afterall The Gathering continue make excellente music. "The West Pole" is the best song of this album but I like much to "No bird call". The new singer's voice it's smooth and beautiful.
Habria que escuchar el disco completo sin embargo esta probadita de lo que ahora es THE GATHERING, no suena nada mal, al final Anneke decidio tomar su camino, sin embargo ella no era THE GATHERING y se quedan los heroes de la batalla, que al final ellos son los cerebros del grupo, RENE RUTTEN, HANS RUTTEN y FRANK BOEIJEN.

The song is good, but I used to like the Gathering because of the fact that their songs didnt have repetitive parts in them: they used to be like great stories from beginning to end, ever changing the notes, etc.

See, it's nothing to do with Nightwish... So many people (and I am one of them) were so disappointed by the eviction of Tarja... When I heard for the Gathering, I was so disgusted but I think that the new singer is doing such a great job! She's not Anneke, for sure, but it's real good stuff! Esque de The Gathering, bueno en mi opinion muy personal, son Hans y Rene Rutten, the gathering siempre ha cambiado mucho sus integrantes, y mientras ellos dos sigan, siempre existara the gahering, yo digo BIEN por ellos, que apesar de todo siguen, y sobre Agua creo que tambien esta muy bien la banda... pues que bueno por Agua y The Gathering
Pero si no fuera por Anneke ahorita "The Gathering" sería una bandita de doom metal y quizás ya no exisitiria no crees... Anneke fue el plus que catapulto a la banda al exito y eso es innegable así que "The Gathering" para mi fue gracias a Anneke porque sin ella otra sería la realidad ahorita.
En mi opinión, Anneke fue un turning point en el estilo de la banda, pero no creo que se le pueda atribuir todo el crédito, puesto que se veía una depuración desde antes. Dicho de otra forma, es muy arriesgado decir que sin ella, la banda habría desaparecido.
Ahhh tenia que ser THE GATHERING me han gustado las tres canciones, la nueva vocal no me decepciona, al contrario me encanta, bien por este disco, ya espero que salga, algo que me hubiera decepcionado hubiera sido que la vocalista tratara de imitar a Anneke o que TG hubiera buscado a alguien con una voz parecida, por suerte no lo hicieron, encontraron una voz hermosa que no necesitara sustituir a Anneke

Agua de Annique is great IMO, so I have now 2 great bands to follow. And OS was interesting...
It is fact that Anneke puts emotions in every note, but ... Silje is not Anneke, thats the way it is, but IMO effect with new singer is really good for TG.
yeah, it's a kind of a problem that her enunciation is not clear. one of the things that made Anneke so special was her distinct and clear articulation of words and the emotion attached to each one. Here, it's like all the words are mixed together so how can she portray emotion if she's not even emphasizing what she's saying?!

Ah, the Octavia's girl... she sings great, but here, in TG-after-Anneke, ain't great. Sounds too distant, like more technique than feeling. Not 'here'. And also too weak, like singing with a cold. I can't make out most of the words she sings... me no likes.. I'm just wondering how this would have sounded with Anneke's voice =/
A mí en la particular me gustaron las 3 canciones. "All you are" y "Treasure" están muy en la onda de If_Then_ Else. Y "The West Pole" es muy parecida a "Noise Severe". La voz de Silje es preciosa. Ojalá y el disco completo esté igual de bueno.
Personally I don't think we should compare voices (that's what the BUT means right? ;) ) It's a matter if you like the "complete picture"... I think these new tracks sound great, with Silje. I cannot do anything else than say: congratulations The Gathering! :)
I really can't believe this. Silje is definitly the best and only choice. I really can't believe a dream like this is happening, long live Silje and the gathering! I just hope she doesn't abandon Octavia! :(
Give it the time and let it grow =) Maybe in the near future you have a 'click' and you hear the beauty in her voice and music!!! =))!!! Sure it's more then ok if you don't like it, and you are true that Silje's voice has less emotion in it!

ya superenlo de una vez, Anneke decidió irse de la banda. aún y cuando prácticamente le rogaron para que no lo hiciera.
Una banda es más que una vocalista, si solo escuchaban a the gathering por anneke pues que pena.
considero que the west pole será mejor que los trabajos de agua de annique, aunque ambas intentan cosas diferentes, me parecen mejor logradas las de TG.
Le rogaron a Anneke que se quedará y se fue así por así???.... ella quería realizar un proyecto paralelo con Rob (esposo) y se lo planteó a la banda. pero los muchachos no aceptaron y tuvo que decidirese entre la banda o su familia y ya saben que decidió. Eso lo dijo la misma Anneke en una entrevista y además Rene también dio a entender lo mismo en otra.
Y eso de que escuchan a "The Gathering" por Anneke es inevitable 13 años en la banda, por ella es que The Gathering vio la fama.
No creo hermano... mira que me encanta Anekke en Gathering, pero la fui a ver al hard rock live de mexico y su banda apesta... y por lo que escucho The west Pole es bueno. El tiempo dirá... anekke sin la banda o la banda sin Anekke... Un saludo y chido!!!!

Apoyo tu comentario, pues yo pienso que la banda the gathering no era anneke, sino los hermanos Rutten, yo los escucho desde el album always y he visto su evolución, y en lo personal que haya salido anneke d ela banda fue para mi lo mejor, porque estaba tomando un estilo muy aburrido, y ahora volvieronlas guitarras en sus canciones y se escucha mucho mejor el timbre de voz d ela nueva vocalista, bueno a mi me gusta mucho mas, como que el timbre de annke de rato me enfadaba.
En la última entrevista que leí con Hans dejaron claro que ellos aceptaban la idea de ADA como banda en proyecto paralelo de Anneke junto con su esposo, pero despúes ella decidió dejar definitivamente la banda. Olvidemonos de Anneke porfavor, ella tiene su banda y The gathering es una nueva banda ahora con mucho camino por recorrer y compuesta por gente muuuy talentosa.

Exactly! The musicians in the band (of which the singer is only a part) is what sets them apart from other "female-singer" bands in my mind. Most bands seem to shape their songs around the singer, I feel TG write their music independent of it...

I came into this album with such trepidation, but I was pleasantly surprised on how great it is! The vocals are excellent, and even though no-one can replace Anneke, the vocalists do an excellent job! Well done Gathering, you haven't let me down yet! :)

This album is very good. Afterall The Gathering continue make excellente music. "The West Pole" is the best song of this album but I like much to "No bird call". The new singer's voice it's smooth and beautiful.

Habria que escuchar el disco completo sin embargo esta probadita de lo que ahora es THE GATHERING, no suena nada mal, al final Anneke decidio tomar su camino, sin embargo ella no era THE GATHERING y se quedan los heroes de la batalla, que al final ellos son los cerebros del grupo, RENE RUTTEN, HANS RUTTEN y FRANK BOEIJEN.

A mi me ah fascinado el trabjo, la vocalista esta de 10, creo qu eno pudieron encontrar a otra mejor, yo nunc apense que la banda se terminaria por que la banda no es la vocalista, los genios ahi estaban, de la ex vocalista no tiene caso hablar aqui de ella, de hecho ami me gusta mucho y me sigue guystando solo que esto es de The Gathering y ya lo demas sobra.....

The song is good, but I used to like the Gathering because of the fact that their songs didnt have repetitive parts in them: they used to be like great stories from beginning to end, ever changing the notes, etc.

al fin vuelve The Gathering....se ve que este album sera la continucacion del Home...yo esperaba que regresen a trabajos como Mandilyon pero esperare a escuchar el album completo....silje le da casi el mismo toque especial a la musica que le daba Anekke....me parece que escuchó los trabajos de Anekke para cantar similar a ella....como siempre la ambientacion que le dan Hans y Rene es lo mejor en los discos

See, it's nothing to do with Nightwish... So many people (and I am one of them) were so disappointed by the eviction of Tarja... When I heard for the Gathering, I was so disgusted but I think that the new singer is doing such a great job! She's not Anneke, for sure, but it's real good stuff! Anette from Nightwish is not that good... By the way, Agua de Annique is just great! :]

Esque de The Gathering, bueno en mi opinion muy personal, son Hans y Rene Rutten, the gathering siempre ha cambiado mucho sus integrantes, y mientras ellos dos sigan, siempre existara the gahering, yo digo BIEN por ellos, que apesar de todo siguen, y sobre Agua creo que tambien esta muy bien la banda... pues que bueno por Agua y The Gathering

Pero si no fuera por Anneke ahorita "The Gathering" sería una bandita de doom metal y quizás ya no exisitiria no crees... Anneke fue el plus que catapulto a la banda al exito y eso es innegable así que "The Gathering" para mi fue gracias a Anneke porque sin ella otra sería la realidad ahorita.

En mi opinión, Anneke fue un turning point en el estilo de la banda, pero no creo que se le pueda atribuir todo el crédito, puesto que se veía una depuración desde antes. Dicho de otra forma, es muy arriesgado decir que sin ella, la banda habría desaparecido.

Ahhh tenia que ser THE GATHERING me han gustado las tres canciones, la nueva vocal no me decepciona, al contrario me encanta, bien por este disco, ya espero que salga, algo que me hubiera decepcionado hubiera sido que la vocalista tratara de imitar a Anneke o que TG hubiera buscado a alguien con una voz parecida, por suerte no lo hicieron, encontraron una voz hermosa que no necesitara sustituir a Anneke

Agua de Annique is great IMO, so I have now 2 great bands to follow. And OS was interesting...
It is fact that Anneke puts emotions in every note, but ... Silje is not Anneke, thats the way it is, but IMO effect with new singer is really good for TG.

yeah, it's a kind of a problem that her enunciation is not clear. one of the things that made Anneke so special was her distinct and clear articulation of words and the emotion attached to each one. Here, it's like all the words are mixed together so how can she portray emotion if she's not even emphasizing what she's saying?!

Yo también creo que esta es la mejor canción de las tres que escuché...aunque me encantaron todas. Estoy muy feliz de que estén de vuelta con Silje que tiene una voz de ensueño.

finally the gathering is back!!!! AND I love all their new songs...and OMG Silje have a beeeaauutiful voice...I was kind of scare about a radical change with the vocals like the way it happened with NW.
DOES ANYONE...can tell me where can I find the lyrics from this songs....or can please post them around here? PLEASE...I can write and read english, but is still kind of hard for me to listen it.

Ah, the Octavia's girl... she sings great, but here, in TG-after-Anneke, ain't great. Sounds too distant, like more technique than feeling. Not 'here'. And also too weak, like singing with a cold. I can't make out most of the words she sings... me no likes.. I'm just wondering how this would have sounded with Anneke's voice =/

A mí en la particular me gustaron las 3 canciones. "All you are" y "Treasure" están muy en la onda de If_Then_ Else. Y "The West Pole" es muy parecida a "Noise Severe". La voz de Silje es preciosa. Ojalá y el disco completo esté igual de bueno.

Personally I don't think we should compare voices (that's what the BUT means right? ;) ) It's a matter if you like the "complete picture"... I think these new tracks sound great, with Silje. I cannot do anything else than say: congratulations The Gathering! :)

Estoy cansada de los comentarios tipo: extrañamos a anneke, anneke vuelve, y todo eso.
ya superenlo de una vez, Anneke decidió irse de la banda. aún y cuando prácticamente le rogaron para que no lo hiciera.
Una banda es más que una vocalista, si solo escuchaban a the gathering por anneke pues que pena.
considero que the west pole será mejor que los trabajos de agua de annique, aunque ambas intentan cosas diferentes, me parecen mejor logradas las de TG.

Le rogaron a Anneke que se quedará y se fue así por así???.... ella quería realizar un proyecto paralelo con Rob (esposo) y se lo planteó a la banda. pero los muchachos no aceptaron y tuvo que decidirese entre la banda o su familia y ya saben que decidió. Eso lo dijo la misma Anneke en una entrevista y además Rene también dio a entender lo mismo en otra.
Y eso de que escuchan a "The Gathering" por Anneke es inevitable 13 años en la banda, por ella es que The Gathering vio la fama.

Apoyo tu comentario, pues yo pienso que la banda the gathering no era anneke, sino los hermanos Rutten, yo los escucho desde el album always y he visto su evolución, y en lo personal que haya salido anneke d ela banda fue para mi lo mejor, porque estaba tomando un estilo muy aburrido, y ahora volvieronlas guitarras en sus canciones y se escucha mucho mejor el timbre de voz d ela nueva vocalista, bueno a mi me gusta mucho mas, como que el timbre de annke de rato me enfadaba.

En la última entrevista que leí con Hans dejaron claro que ellos aceptaban la idea de ADA como banda en proyecto paralelo de Anneke junto con su esposo, pero despúes ella decidió dejar definitivamente la banda. Olvidemonos de Anneke porfavor, ella tiene su banda y The gathering es una nueva banda ahora con mucho camino por recorrer y compuesta por gente muuuy talentosa.

Bueno se contradicen entonces alguien esta mintiendo porque d ela fuente que vi dijeron que ellos no lo aceptaron y Anneke tuvo que decidir y eligioóa Rob que creo es comprensible.... bueno ya fue ese tema y como dices veremos como le va a The Gatheribg con Silje, la cual es muy buena cantante también aunque ya me había acostumbrado a escucharla mas power jaja ojalá en los próximos discos la dejen soltarse un poco.

well, gathering never is the same band.
They are used to do drastic changes in the music style, and -of course- the players....
I felt something like you in the first time, but i really like it by now.
I always knew they will never be the same, just because they are always different... with our without anneke...
they always became something new...

what sort of a response is that? obviously Gathering changed from album to album, but there was growth and development, and of course, Anneke's presence for 12 solid years.
changing a vocalist changes everything.
the new sound is conservative. it's decent, and the 3 songs on myspace are growing on me, but there is nothing particularly adventurous about it.

Anneke was (is) unique, but there has always been more to The Gathering than just the singer. Silje Wergeland is definitly a good replacement.

Exactly! The musicians in the band (of which the singer is only a part) is what sets them apart from other "female-singer" bands in my mind. Most bands seem to shape their songs around the singer, I feel TG write their music independent of it...
