The decision to seperate children was made with the best intentions, in some cases it was wrong but for the most they were better off.
Aborigines should count themselves lucky Oz wasnt settled by the Spanish, they would have wiped them out straight away.

I think the majority of Australians wouldn't have had a conversation with an aboriginal for most of their lives.
Can you site one source showing how being separated from your mother BECAUSE YOU ARE A HALF CAST makes you better off?

If aboriginal people are so angry at the white man for trying to assimilate them into society then why don't they all fuck off to the bush? Just go, live your lives, all 30 years of them and leave the white fella be, we can certainly do without you, can you do without us? Australia got settled, live with it and move on

Who were these aborigines in 1869? Let me hazard a guess, had they killed a white fella? Stolen stock? Burnt down a farm? In 1869 the killing of aborigines was still in full swing was it not, so why steal them and send them to homes? Why not just line them up against a wall and shoot them.
If the white mans intention was to see them all dead then they'd all BE dead...but look, the aborigine lives on, because some white folk wanted to help them, and these are the majority of the stolen!

No they wanted to bring up the half casts as white. Back then it was all the rage to father a half cast child it seems. The govts at the time (as they were colonies still) decided they didn't want these half white kids growing up as aboriginal. Now you might see that as rescuing.. but it clearly isn't.
Perhaps Hilter was "rescuing" jews from themselves too???

it may have been in the best intentions back then but it wasn't the right thing to do.. in medieval times they use to bleed people to cure a flu, sure it was in the best intentions but it wasn't the right thing to do.. aboriginals lived with no problem of the land for 10's of thousands of years, it was europeans who brought all that stuff here

u do make some good points. though I don't think australia as a nation should have 2 pay compensation to ne aboriginal ppl at all notthat are directly affected by the relocated generation

only those affected will be compensated. I don't see just any one getting money. You'd need a good reason legally to get it. That being said, and as I've said to a few of my friends.. somethings are more important than money.
