we have a number of Canadian geese in the local park, they've just arrived back after the cold winter, and I'm glad to see there is still an even (multiple of 2) number of them.

And if one should happen to fall ill or injured two others will go down with it to protect it until it gets well or dies, and then leave to catch up with the rest of the flock.
