As far as Joshua is concerned they when into Caanan to kill the giants, aka the Nephilem, the off spring of the fallen ones in Genesis 6. Krishna died for no one, only God's Son the perfect one died for us to save us from our sins.
"Ringo" fans.... In honor of Ringo's 70th, I hope U will check out my "RINGO"video. It's very retro with Beatleish touches & was done as a labor of love and with the utmost respect for the Fabs. My attempt at putting a little bit of the Beatle spirit out there for Beatle fans. It's also my tribute to George Harrison's slide playing as well as Ringo's unique style.
Of course I dont respect the ones you mentioned but they have a right to believe whatever they want.we live in a free country.we all have free will to believe whatever we want, regardless if I think it is right or wrong.thats all I'm saying.I should have worded what I said better in my last post.Tell me,You must be a learned scholar who has studied the bible extensively to come to the conclusion that Jesus is not real to you.you must think that your very wise to have figured this out.
You don't respect those beliefs? What happened to the golden rule? Since yours is a belief in Jesus it should be respected, but not other beliefs? I guess we agree after all, just because it is a belief does not mean it must be respected. I never questioned a right to belief, only the expectation of respect for it.
It does not take a learned scholar to see that it is a logical fallacy to presume a conclusion from the premise itself. I.E. Jesus is real because it says so in the bible.
they are all like that-and thats why the Church all those horrible things with such a sheep like following from day one !
God said dont make an carven image- and they carved out a mental image of a terrible God in heaven-booo...the only one etc
Moses broke the Tablet ! and then restated it ! becos Aroan saw the hypocrisy.Dont have for food in blood, they have to have meat-so presto wash off the blood.
Dont kill- 3000 worshippers of golden calf-fisrt thing that morning...
When I see a antichristian statement that is obvious I am compelled to comment - Jesus may not be real to you but he is to me and millions of others like me.
I've chosen to believe in pink unicorns but I don't expect to compel anyone to respect pink unicorn belief. Why should they? They're not real no matter what I say.
@subg88 its arrogant for you to think you know it all like a god or something.People have a right to believe whatever they want.what makes you so certain that Jesus isnt real?I respect your right to believe in pink unicorns because I cant be 100 percent sure that they dont exist.maybe you think that everyone should worship you because you have all the answers.
I'm not certain, I just know there is no evidence that he actually existed or that there is any truth to the bible. I don't believe in things, other than pink unicorns, in which there is no evidence of its existence. For some reason, people choose to believe in things despite this, and then expect people to respect it. Why should they? That's ridiculous.
@subg88 It's like this-if you want people to respect what you believe then you have to respect what they believe.you treat others how you want to be treated And who are you to say that there is no evidence? The bible IS the evidence, that is if you understand it.Faith is something that is often hard to understand.Faith is like trusting that what is good and right will win out in the end.
True, but you're making the mistake that everyone wants others to respect what they believe. I couldn't care less what people who operate on faith and consider the bible as valid evidence think about what I believe. I agree completely with the principle of the golden rule. Do you? You're the one demanding respect for your faith. Do you appreciate others who demand respect for their views, no matter the content of those views? Witchcraft, idol worship, etc? ....
...if you do in fact respect the views of all, it seems you would be going against the tenants of your religion.
"But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one. Purge the evil person from among you.”
I suppose one could both respect and purge a person in some Christian-esque logic system. Good luck with that.
I mean, really, do you respect the beliefs of the members of NAMBLA, of practitioners of ritual sacrafices, Nazis, KKK, mind control cults, etc? I hope not. Yet, you'd like your views to be universally respected while not universally respecting the beliefs of others (I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you don't respect the belief that sex with children should be acceptable to society) as you'd like to claim.
Alright lets trust-where do we begin- it was Mary Magdalene who saw the missing body- no wait, 2 angels, no oops 1 angel and wait a minute she ran into Jesus, no ?wrong- I mean all right at the same time we cant untrust- then he went rocketing up from ..wait Baethleham, no Nazarath mmmh maybe both places, and we got from let me check the list-12 apostles-1 missing, but add lists comes to 14 ? And Paul never met jesus, except as a spirit? but lets take him at his word-burn other copies.
@Aron51869 Your made it clear to me that you dont follow Christ and that you think the bible is bullshit.you certainly have that right. It took many years before I started believing. I think we all have our own spiritual path. The fact that your here at George Harrison page tells me that your looking, studying.maybe trying to find some spirituality.maybe trying to find a god of your own understanding. For me to deny Christ would be like saying there is no evil in the world.
we need more people like george in the musical bussines, all is nowadays is absolutely crap...nonsense music like lady gaga and all this stupidity around us,....we miss you so so much George, god bless you!!!
@adulth00d: No it was George back in '71...Ringo's first Number one came in '73 with "Photograph"...George Harrison was the first "ex" Beatle to reach number 1 on the American charts.
George wasn't hoarse from smack, as some have claimed. That's absurd! He was forced to record the Dark Horse album immediately before the Dark Horse Tour. He got laryngitis while recording the album, which had a deadline, then he started the tour. I saw him on that tour, in 1974, playing in Texas. He was hoarse when I saw him, and yes, the "Dark Hoarse" jokes started, including in Rolling Stone. He still put on an amazing concert, and this is still a great song.
After the break up of the Beatles, George Harrison was the first "ex" Beatle to hit #1 with "My Sweet Lord"! The other Beatles followed George's lead.
Although I love Ringo's solo career years...It was George in '71 who first topped the American charts. Ringo had to wait until the fall of '73 for his chart-topper: Photograph.
How did you reach these conclusions? George was known to be a nice person, but there was nothing simple about his home, cars, etc.. How can it be said that he never wanted fame? I think The Beatles worked pretty hard for their fame and, had George been determined to shed fame, he could have stopped releasing major label records, making promo films, etc. I think George lived a wealthy person's life, and did want fame, and was a good person.
@TheLovelyMC Well, i might be wrong. But he always exuded simplicity not by the ways he spent or lived, but his personality, like his face, eyes etc carried simplicity in them. His statements were also testimony to that he was simple. I said it hence :) But you also might be right, after all we can only speculate, whats a real man who knows?
@TheBhargavsai If he never wanted fame he wouldn't have joined the Beatles in the first place. If you call having a mansion in the UK and a home in Hawaii the most simple life...then Give me the simple life!!! Not many people can afford a life as "simple" as his was! But I will give it to him.. He was a humble man.
Actually, Lysnna, this album song came out in 1975. His voice was perfectly fine, on a natural level. This harshness in his voice was more than likely due to drugs or even somewhat fabricated. He made several songs afterwards and his voice was the usual George voice.
Not arguing, but I found this on Wikipedia, and thought it was interesting: "Harrison had begun the recording of the song at Friar Park, but it remained unfinished when it came time to mount his 1974 American tour. With the album's release date pending, and Harrison's throat wracked by laryngitis, the track was re-recorded quickly in an American studio, with his tour band."
an obscure george harrison song I really like is "Miss O'dell" it was on the flip side of the 45 of "Bangla Desh". Try to find it and listen to it....it grows on you
you might be right... but i didn't realise he was really into it, are there any websites that say so? i know the other three tried it so it makes sense that george would too, was just wondering if you had any info on George's relationship with the drug. would be interesting... thanks
zork, I respect your opinion, and I am not saying that you are wrong. But I really think he is also refering to his personalty. As in the quiet one. The one not expected to succeed. He kind of saw himself at odds with the world sometimes. At least I heard people who knew him say this. Even to the extent that he was sometimes very difficult to get along with. I don't know that he was really much of a heroin user. Again, I might be wrong. Do you know if he used H much? Thanks.
i understand this song (lyrics) the dark horse is the one you underestimated coming out of left field out of the blue on the dark horse running on the dark race course he says he blends in so no one ever saw it COMING then BANG, wins the race he writes this because someone hurt him bad yep and once your hurt, you really never quite get past it BEAUTIFUL SONG AND THANK YOU and miss you
This song could have been one of his all time best... if he had only let his voice heal up before singing it. How on earth any producer or record company could listen to this and say "hey, great stuff, let's just put it out like that" is beyond me.
I know George's voice was shot. But it really added to the feel of this song. I wonder if Dark Horse would have sounded as good if it was sung in George's usual smooth voice. But that's only my opinion. I know George got terrible reviews for his US song do to his voice at the time.
By the way, Jesus is very much real. That's for the director here. :)
I agree. I don't think the song would have the same feel if he was in good vocal spirits. Considering the mood of the song, the voice is a perfect fit.
it was a time constituent reason. George had to deliver his next lp by a deadline and didn't have time to let his voice heal. Funnily enough-it adds to the song title without meaning to, despite the difference in spelling. Dark Hoarse indeed! But i love it anyway. It would sound strange if he went back and put better vocals on it later. you get accustomed to its vocal limitations.
I so completely agree with your comments on his voice. To me, and I am usually a musical perfectionalist to a fault, it ADDS to the song. But then, I have always loved George Harrison and always will.
the credit in the booklet of my CD shows 3 musicians :
Chuck Findley, Jim Horn and Tom Scott.
the flute is Sri Krishna's instrument of choice that helps the listener to realise the Lord's presence in the song, He who is the strengthener for the Dark Horse.
Sorry for my rambling if you've already known this meaning of flute presence.
Love this song too! Very under rated! He was very under rated as a songwriter. "It's A Pity". He was so talented and and so prolific, in my book anyway. Love him!!!!!!!
great song :] sadly i thought George was under rated a bit about his song writing when he was with the beatles. Something is probably one of the best songs from the beatles and some people think its a Lennon/McCartney song.
George injured his vocal chords during the recording of this album, but he had a tight deadline to finish the album and then go on tour in North America in late 1974. So he pressed on, as best he could. Critics called the tour "Dark Hoarse" because of George's vocal problems.
Yep, I saw him that tour. Capital Centre near D.C., Fri 12-13-74. (ticket stub says) Ravi Shankar was touring with GH but hospitalized due to some flu bug, I think. Ravi's Indian band played though, lovely. Maybe 20 pieces/voices. George was VERY hoarse, but still incredible. Billy Preston rocked the house with "Nothing from Nothing." When George did "Give Me Love, Give Me Peace on Earth" I thought I was going to melt into a pile of protoplasm. Come to think of it, that might have happened :-)
He stayed true to himself

@Aron51869 in the Bible in the Gospel of John 14:5 & 6: Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Peace,

Of course I dont respect the ones you mentioned but they have a right to believe whatever they want.we live in a free country.we all have free will to believe whatever we want, regardless if I think it is right or wrong.thats all I'm saying.I should have worded what I said better in my last post.Tell me,You must be a learned scholar who has studied the bible extensively to come to the conclusion that Jesus is not real to you.you must think that your very wise to have figured this out.
akbill2 1 year ago
You don't respect those beliefs? What happened to the golden rule? Since yours is a belief in Jesus it should be respected, but not other beliefs? I guess we agree after all, just because it is a belief does not mean it must be respected. I never questioned a right to belief, only the expectation of respect for it.
It does not take a learned scholar to see that it is a logical fallacy to presume a conclusion from the premise itself. I.E. Jesus is real because it says so in the bible.

Dont kill- 3000 worshippers of golden calf-fisrt thing that morning...

When I see a antichristian statement that is obvious I am compelled to comment - Jesus may not be real to you but he is to me and millions of others like me.
akbill2 1 year ago
I've chosen to believe in pink unicorns but I don't expect to compel anyone to respect pink unicorn belief. Why should they? They're not real no matter what I say.
subg88 1 year ago
@subg88 its arrogant for you to think you know it all like a god or something.People have a right to believe whatever they want.what makes you so certain that Jesus isnt real?I respect your right to believe in pink unicorns because I cant be 100 percent sure that they dont exist.maybe you think that everyone should worship you because you have all the answers.
akbill2 1 year ago
@akbill2
I'm not certain, I just know there is no evidence that he actually existed or that there is any truth to the bible. I don't believe in things, other than pink unicorns, in which there is no evidence of its existence. For some reason, people choose to believe in things despite this, and then expect people to respect it. Why should they? That's ridiculous.
subg88 1 year ago
@subg88 It's like this-if you want people to respect what you believe then you have to respect what they believe.you treat others how you want to be treated And who are you to say that there is no evidence? The bible IS the evidence, that is if you understand it.Faith is something that is often hard to understand.Faith is like trusting that what is good and right will win out in the end.
akbill2 1 year ago
@akbill2
Witchcraft, idol worship, etc? ....
subg88 1 year ago
...if you do in fact respect the views of all, it seems you would be going against the tenants of your religion.

For me to deny Christ would be like saying there is no evil in the world.

love you george no matter how your voice sounds!
BeatlesGirlx1965 2 years ago
George wasn't hoarse from smack, as some have claimed. That's absurd! He was forced to record the Dark Horse album immediately before the Dark Horse Tour. He got laryngitis while recording the album, which had a deadline, then he started the tour. I saw him on that tour, in 1974, playing in Texas. He was hoarse when I saw him, and yes, the "Dark Hoarse" jokes started, including in Rolling Stone. He still put on an amazing concert, and this is still a great song.

George Harrison, was a rare human being. He was very very rich, yet lived most simple life and never wanted Fame. How many people are like that?
TheBhargavsai 2 years ago 36
@TheBhargavsai one george!
TwoBoyz1Channel 1 year ago
@TheBhargavsai
TheLovelyMC 9 months ago
@TheLovelyMC Well, i might be wrong. But he always exuded simplicity not by the ways he spent or lived, but his personality, like his face, eyes etc carried simplicity in them. His statements were also testimony to that he was simple. I said it hence :) But you also might be right, after all we can only speculate, whats a real man who knows?

If you call having a mansion in the UK and a home in Hawaii the most simple life...then Give me the simple life!!! Not many people can afford a life as "simple" as his was! But I will give it to him.. He was a humble man.

george had laryngitis during this recording, which gave him a hoarse voice
beatlesvickz 2 years ago 4
Actually, Lysnna, this album song came out in 1975. His voice was perfectly fine, on a natural level. This harshness in his voice was more than likely due to drugs or even somewhat fabricated. He made several songs afterwards and his voice was the usual George voice.
gft6969 2 years ago
Not arguing, but I found this on Wikipedia, and thought it was interesting: "Harrison had begun the recording of the song at Friar Park, but it remained unfinished when it came time to mount his 1974 American tour. With the album's release date pending, and Harrison's throat wracked by laryngitis, the track was re-recorded quickly in an American studio, with his tour band."

Dark horse is a reference to Harrison's heroin use. Just looking for "the source"..."since I picked up my first spoon"
zorkandog 3 years ago
you might be right... but i didn't realise he was really into it, are there any websites that say so? i know the other three tried it so it makes sense that george would too, was just wondering if you had any info on George's relationship with the drug. would be interesting... thanks
myenglishland 2 years ago
zork, I respect your opinion, and I am not saying that you are wrong. Thanks.

This song could have been one of his all time best... if he had only let his voice heal up before singing it. How on earth any producer or record company could listen to this and say "hey, great stuff, let's just put it out like that" is beyond me.
danthemankhan 4 years ago
I know George's voice was shot. But it really added to the feel of this song. I wonder if Dark Horse would have sounded as good if it was sung in George's usual smooth voice. But that's only my opinion. I know George got terrible reviews for his US song do to his voice at the time.
By the way, Jesus is very much real. That's for the director here. :)
BeatleUniversity 3 years ago
I agree. I don't think the song would have the same feel if he was in good vocal spirits. Considering the mood of the song, the voice is a perfect fit.

let's leave out the religion and just enjoy what we all came here for-the almighty George!
danelectroman70 3 years ago 2
it was a time constituent reason.

Who did the flute work on the song? That helps make the song what it is.
RayNDeere 4 years ago
the credit in the booklet of my CD shows 3 musicians :
Chuck Findley, Jim Horn and Tom Scott.
the flute is Sri Krishna's instrument of choice that helps the listener to realise the Lord's presence in the song, He who is the strengthener for the Dark Horse.
Sorry for my rambling if you've already known this meaning of flute presence.

kraythegreat 4 years ago
George injured his vocal chords during the recording of this album, but he had a tight deadline to finish the album and then go on tour in North America in late 1974. So he pressed on, as best he could. Critics called the tour "Dark Hoarse" because of George's vocal problems.
proken58 4 years ago
Yep, I saw him that tour. Capital Centre near D.C., Fri 12-13-74. (ticket stub says) Ravi Shankar was touring with GH but hospitalized due to some flu bug, I think. Ravi's Indian band played though, lovely. Maybe 20 pieces/voices. George was VERY hoarse, but still incredible. Billy Preston rocked the house with "Nothing from Nothing." When George did "Give Me Love, Give Me Peace on Earth" I thought I was going to melt into a pile of protoplasm. Come to think of it, that might have happened :-)
