I think the pet shop sold him way to early, or if his breeder was indeed from a puppy mill, then shipping him off on a cargho plane way too early from his mother to a state he doesn't know is understandable. Kinda hard to swallow though. Knowing that your puppy's liver isn't fully developed and he's hypoglycemic.

The thing that makes me sad is that he laying there all sad then those people came he starts getting excited wagging his tail and they just leave and he just looks like he's saying "where you going?" I swear by the end of this 30 second video that i was in tears.

I was actually at the shelter a few days ago. So happy to see there was not many dogs there. And a lot of the one's that where there had a "I'm going home" sign on their cage. :)
Most of the dogs in our county's shelters are pit-bulls. The second most are chihuahuas. The problem is most of the dogs are either too aggressive around other dogs or so scared that they are beyond rehabilitation. I was lucky with my shelter dog he was a sweetheart.

When I was volunteering at a shelter, it really does break your heart. Some dogs there are terrified, and they bark at everyone, they are aggressive... but the one's that are truly the sad sight to see are those that have lost hope, so to speak. They just sit at the back of their cages, they don't look at you when you walk by, they are quiet, often gentle... it's sad because they would make great, loving pets. God I hate people sometimes...

That sounds like our Maggie. She was at the shelter for a month and kept being passed up for whatever reason. And, then, we found her. Or rather, she stole our hearts right from us. She'll never see that place again, and I hope one day she forgets it.

Dogs love you for YOU...not what you drive, how you look or how much you have. My dog was that dog. The dog who was passed up over and over. True, she didn't have any social skills or training, but was that really her fault? She saw people pass her by in a cage in front of pets mart for six months. I couldn't pass her by with out seeing some thing in her eyes. Outside she looked like a mangy street dog. But in her eyes I saw a chihuahua that just wanted a home. It's been a year since I she's been in front of a perts mart. Happiest year of my life, and probably her's too.

I remember there was such an outcry over this one, and then the follow up was made when it got adopted. Last year we welcomed a maltese into our home. Someone let it out of their car and abandoned it on the side of the road. A friend of the family just happened to be behind them and picked it up. They already have three dogs so asked us if wanted to try it out. His name is Nate and he has been with us ever since.
I have always been a dog lover, and the dog I have now I bought from a breeder. I wanted to share my home and my lil buddys home with a shelter dog.
When I went to adopt at our shelter they wanted $600 for a "dog that needed a home desperately". I was floored! I told them I would neuter the dog and update shots with MY vet. They refused to budge on the cost.
I hate that there were so many dogs with no home, but our local shelter is a racket!!!
I agree with the post about puppy mills and backyard breeders. SHUT THEM DOWN - shelter dogs and cats are the best friends you could ever have - my parents had them for years!!

I've been having an Xfiles marathon this past week, and we are planning on adopting a new dog this summer. :) I guess this video is a good omen. Dogs are such wonderfull animals and it breaks my heart to see any without proper homes.

This is so sweet and true. Although it is a commercial....
Years ago when I adopted a beautiful and wonderful 3 month old lab from an Atlanta Shelter, this is what I saw.
So many wonderful animals that knew that you could save them by adoption.
There were old dogs and cats there that just did not know what they did wrong to make their owners give them up. You could see it in their faces.
Heart breaking! I would have taken them all if I could!

This is so heartbreaking. Pedigree makes the best/saddest shelter commercials :'( I cant wait to move out on my own and adopt an old dog from the shelter that no one wants :)

When I was volunteering at a shelter, it really does break your heart. Some dogs there are terrified, and they bark at everyone, they are aggressive... but the one's that are truly the sad sight to see are those that have lost hope, so to speak. They just sit at the back of their cages, they don't look at you when you walk by, they are quiet, often gentle... it's sad because they would make great, loving pets. God I hate people sometimes...

i just adopted a shelter dog. he's a sweetheart, i love him. :3 we need more commercials like this, a lot of people have this misconception that shelter dogs are the rejects of dog society or something like that. but more than half are really there due to issues that have nothing to do with bad behavior! :<

That sounds like our Maggie. She was at the shelter for a month and kept being passed up for whatever reason. And, then, we found her. Or rather, she stole our hearts right from us. She'll never see that place again, and I hope one day she forgets it.

aww... Why cant all dogs be adopted. When my family goes to the shelter, I almost cant even go because of the sadness, I want to adopt them all, please if you are looking for a dog or cat or anything, they NEED you, they care.

This makes me cry like a baby. When I move out and can support myself, the FIRST THING I'm going to do is go to the pound and adopt an older dog and give it the best home it could ever imagine!

Dogs are truly more loving, kind, gentle and LOYAL than most people I've encountered in life, sometimes even family members. Dogs love you for YOU...not what you drive, how you look or how much you have. Ghandi said our treatment for animals is what a society should be judged on and anyone who adopts from a shelter has great character and a lot to be proud of. Dogs sense emotion just as we do, so please value all of God's creatures with respect and love. Thank you Pedigree for this campaign!

My dog was that dog. The dog who was passed up over and over. True, she didn't have any social skills or training, but was that really her fault? She saw people pass her by in a cage in front of pets mart for six months. I couldn't pass her by with out seeing some thing in her eyes. Outside she looked like a mangy street dog. But in her eyes I saw a chihuahua that just wanted a home. It's been a year since I she's been in front of a perts mart. Happiest year of my life, and probably her's too.

I remember there was such an outcry over this one, and then the follow up was made when it got adopted. Last year we welcomed a maltese into our home. Someone let it out of their car and abandoned it on the side of the road. A friend of the family just happened to be behind them and picked it up. They already have three dogs so asked us if wanted to try it out. His name is Nate and he has been with us ever since.

I have always been a dog lover, and the dog I have now I bought from a breeder. I wanted to share my home and my lil buddys home with a shelter dog.
When I went to adopt at our shelter they wanted $600 for a "dog that needed a home desperately". I was floored! I told them I would neuter the dog and update shots with MY vet. They refused to budge on the cost.
I hate that there were so many dogs with no home, but our local shelter is a racket!!!

I agree with the post about puppy mills and backyard breeders. SHUT THEM DOWN - shelter dogs and cats are the best friends you could ever have - my parents had them for years!!
