Great music, I love it. I live in the UK and if it was not for broadband, I would not be able to listen to this music. We dont have any radio chanels that play it, just the odd program now and again.
I love Miss Kitty..when I was growing up i listened to her all the time. When i was real young and they would annouce her on the radio I thought it was me singing because I was named after her...my name is Kitty wells Gregory. i feel honored to have been named for her!!!
A lot of you are right. She was truly the Queen of Country Music. I had such a crush on her when I was young. I was only about 12 then but every time she came on the radio I was mesmerized.
@JohnC5700 Me too !! My Mom had me growing up to Kitty, Hank, and Eddie...but like you, when I was 10 or 12, I never even knew what she looked like but I was absolutely in love with her whenever I heard her..
yes..u guys..all the real talent, the real women of C & W are gone..from Mama Maybelle Carter, June, the one & only Patsy Cline..(the queen) :) to Wanda Jackson, Loretta, Dolly with Porter..& of course Kitty..they were the best, because their roots were humble..they were untouched by all the glitz & glamour...carried themselves as "ladies"..which are hard to find these days.."LADY"...with all the junk out there..a LADY..is not easy to find any more..isn't that sad? there are however a few
I'm 15 years old and I can still say this is my favorite music. Proud to say it too. This is real music, with real lyrics that deal with true feelings & situations. I like some new music, but my heart is with REAL country music forever. I've only seen one artist in concert (George Jones) but I can tell from the recordings these artists sing from their heart. Never will another genre of music touch my heart like country music.
@locdogg18750 I don't know what you mean by Kitty being "no Laura Bell Bundy". Thank goodness she's not. Laura is only a fair singer - another cute blonde who's been acting in theater who, like many others younger actors, want to get a break in country music. She's from my home town and I am glad for her success but as for her making country music better - that's a joke. She, like many others, likes to kick up her heels, shake her booty and hope to become an icon like Kitty Wells. - Paula
@welshhillbillyful ... thanks I'll do that. Arthur's exwife (widow) told me a lot of good stories. Shame he never got the credit for so many of his songs. Jreb
You know, I tend bar in a legion and when songs like this comes on the stereo the guys and gals sit in somber silence. There is something about this particular song that gets to everyone.
Love this woman's voice cannot believe she is still going on wonder is she still singing? These gals were the best, Kitty, Patsy, Loretta, Dottie, Tammy, Jean Shepard, Connie Smith, you do not get any better then these ladies. All you have today is boobs and electronics. Wanda Jackson is another great under rated gal.
@walknaftrmdnght Miss Kitty celebrates her 91st birthday today. She is retired, and lives in Nashville with her husband, Johnnie Wright. They celebrate their 73rd anniversary in Oct.
Kitty was one of my favorite CW singers in the 50s when I was growing up in DC. Used to listen on WARL in Arlington, VA. Anyone remenber that station, with the amazing Muntz TV ads,
Now, here's a lady singing a song with meaning - unlike the trash today's sluts are producing. Kitty, Loretta, Mama Maybelle, Dottie, Anita and your like - you are sorely missed.
This was the sound I grew up with and we love her very much for what she has given to our great Country music. Thanks for posting this video. The sound is excellent.
Now this is CLASSIC COUNTRY! Kitty will ALWAYS be "Queen of Country Music" in my book. She was and is simply the best of the best! Thanks for sharing! God Bless You! Mike

I grew up listening to my mom's Kitty records. So many people think she was too nasal-toned, but I liked her voice, anyway. She is the old-time country, for sure.

The song is "Money, Marbles and Chalk", and you're thinking of Liz Anderson.
Patti Page recorded the best known and biggest selling version of the song, in 1949.
Both versions are excellent.
