You are actually suppose to do what you're saying not to do because if not you're hacking at it like a baseball swing like the pro at my Local Pro Shop told me
this video is bull who gives two craps if your "forearms are twisted" and at 1:21 that cannot be a good finish looks so uncomfortable. so many people "90%" of people do it wrong and still shoot good scores. we arent tour pros trick is to enjoy it not think about your swing plane or anything like that as it is a sure way to fuck up your shot, thank you, good day!
@SuperMilo15 i guess it depends if you care about how good you want to be able to get...i agree overthinking kills you but your gonna enjoy it more, the more drives you smash down the middle.
Fuck the take away look at furyk or jiminez there back swings are shit, all that matters is what you are like at impact. Fair enough it might help you to achieve your impact position but take away and back swing arent everything.
My position at the top is crap. At impact, my hips are square. I know where my hands, shaft and club face should be at the top. I know my hips should be open at impact. I believe most serious golfers also know this.
I think that the good amateurs and pros can get into these positions with ease. That is what separates them from handicap golfers.
So, while this video possibly gives you some correct info, it's only good to someone who didn't have a clue what was going on with their swing.
90% of golfers take advice from retards and even go as far as to buy gimmick swing training aids. They all still suck. Either you got natural ability or you don't. Just hit the fucking ball!

lolz... awesome crap he told... how much concentration do you need on the release, when u have to hit the ball on the ground and not the imaginary ball in the air towards your target...
the only thing will happen is, that all the newbies want to struggle the club into the air or on their own back and the ball flies (at best condition) to the right "Outofbound"
@TheRealOzzie234 - Well Said mate...these are totally the MAIN errors of the average club golfer today - sort these out and the game will become 'enjoyable'...

actually you shouldnt roll your hands over at the start. you let your wrist cock naturally and the tend to start doing that at about waist high. If you start rolling it into the inside, you tend to roll it over at impact or throw it from the top all depending on your lower body.
since when is the club supposed to be pointed at the flag when you bring it to the top. Its NOT. Only John Dailey bring it that far back and doesn't always get away with it
certain portion of your brain controls a certain group of muscles...n using those muscles in a well timed, co-ordinated manner over n over again makes that pathway (or sequence) in brain easy to "hit".
n that is muscles memory. without even thinkin , u produce that swing...over n over again
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
stop trying to sound like you know what your talking about. Muscles cannot remember things. Your brain remember things. Overall this has to be the worst instructional video for golf that I have ever seen.
He's not actually saying that your muscles will "remember" it's just a term to describe a feeling that is the same every time. and by telling many golfers where flaws occur in their swing will help them self diagnose their swing and give them something to work on. Man i doubt you could do a better job. What's your handicap?
lol, dont take the term muscle MEMORY too literally, dure, ur brain can remember the sequence u just made like in a practise swing, but the muscle fibres stay fromed a certain way for about 5seconds after u make a swing, enabelling to replicate that swing easy =)
muscle memory is a bunch of bs if you ask me. im sorry but the muscles in the human body cannot retain memory. its your mind that does all the work. this has to be the worst golf instruction video on youtube. terrible
farcle stop trying to make yourself feel better about your terrible game. The mere thought of your muscles actually being able to form memories is ridiculous, so don't even bothering pointing that out. It's not exactly a misconception among sane individuals here.
There is no such thing as "muscle memory." Your muscles have no capacity to remember anything. Memory resides in your head. Therefore, no matter how long you practice a golf swing, no matter how skilled you become at it, your muscles can not remember it and exacute it when it arises on the golf course. Your muscles and the rest of your body are controlled by YOUR MIND!!
Muscle memory is just a term used to conveniently describe your mind's habit to tell the muscles to move in a certain way. Any dumbfuck knows that it's not actually "muscle memory" so don't feel too proud of yourself.
Apparently your are so unintelligent that you can not even write one comment without having to resort to curse words other than thinking of something that really means anything. Just stop arguing with me because honestly you are probably some arrogant golf hacker that doesnt fix his ball marks on the green, that is if you have ever hit a green.
You're pretty retarded if you have to explain to people that muscles cannot form memories. The reason it's called muscle memory is because your brain can adapt to almost any physical activity and make it only easier and easier to perform. It even scales down all the way to something as simple as typing on a keyboard. A Youtube computer nerd like you will type faster than a non-computer user due to "muscle memory".
Look at any pro golfer and see their wrists hinge at the top of their back swing. You just have to make shure you have proper return of the club face.
if your wrists dont "roll" in the back swing...there is NO possible way to have any kind of angle retention. You will just have the worlds most closed club face on the way back.
Look at Tiger's swing and tell me he doesnt open that club face farther than most other pros on tour in his back swing. Then, tell me he has no consistency with his irons.
I dont know who this guy is...but this video is crap, and he shouldnt be giving golf lessons.
correct..i totaly agree..this guy is no one and i have watched so many of youtubes vids with tiger and i have fixed my swing from that.he "rolls" his wrist a lot
Tiger's wrists only roll after the club is past parallel, not on the takeaway. That's how it's supposed to be. You don't try to keep your clubface square through your entire backswing, they will break naturally if your takeaway is good.
If you think this tip is crap, then explain the other hundreds of videos (including some by pros such as Nick Faldo) that say the exact same thing?
I think I roll my wrists too much and am confused by either take the club back straight up and down or bringing it back in an arc like fashion (more rounded) if you look at my swing I think I'm cocking my wrists too much have a look and let me know if I am doing it incorrectly.
so funny to read these comments this golf is 60 years old and has taught some of the best players in the world . i mean when some fool starts talking about the club face cleary you have no idea . the club face stays square in relation to the body through out the golf swing not target . slow down any of the top players swings in the world and watch . and when you feel like you might have some solid info send it to me or even come for a lesson free and will show you
this is one of the most wacked instruction I have ever seen. If you want to have a putting/chipping action in your full swing, do what this guy is saying. You will hit your long irons about knee high, and probably come over the top.
you know that you could rotate them back.............your giving like a bad putting lesson.and if you dont twist at all you wont be giving all your power..i think the pros would know better than to leave the club face open......i dont see you in the pros now do i.
you guys are tards, all pros "open the club" then close it to impact, i hit it straighter, and longer because i do this, TIGER WOODS rotates the face, thats my evidence im doing somthing right
A _very_ few pros have hooded the club relative to the arc and then worked the club from closed to open through impact (Trevino is one example), but you're right--in almost every good swing throughout history, the face rotates open about 90 degrees relative to the arc (from the starting position), then rotates back 180 degrees into the finish. You really have to do some manipulating to make this _not_ happen.
I bet he would tell you something like this; initiate the backswing with the legs so that your hips & shoulders take the club away to the right without you have to roll the wrists & you´ll be able to cock the wrists right up without opening the club face... You´ll feel you´re not swinging around but rather away from your right shoulder. On the downswing unwind with your legs first, let the hips & shoulders follow and feel you are pulling your hands slightly left, towards your left shoulder.
hell i know many people who are 1 and 2 handicapped who arent in the " perfect" position at the top, its all about counteracting what you do. and if it happens naturally annd you hit it well then who cares. golf score cards dont have pictures on them.
yup. you can hit the ball as hard as you want, but if you cant hit it in or close to the sweet spot you are screwing yourself out of your full potential.
Exactly. OVERrotating them is no good, but so is overdoing anything in the swing. If he'd like to explain to Cochran and Stobbs (Search for the Perfect Swing) why their extensive biomechanical research on this point is wrong, I'd love to be there to hear it. Meanwhile, viewers at home ought to stand straight up, hold a club out in front of them and see how bloody possible it is to swing that club around them without the forearms rotating at all.
shame you dont understand its the rolling of the wrists on the take away thats is the problem not forearms . you are very under qualified and cleary have no idea . we have taught and had success for 60 years and i think you would agree that we most be doing something right .stephen aimes gary player when he won the open michael bollack miguel angel martin when he nearly made ryder cup the list goes on ans so does lesley kings method of teaching if you have the chance come in and learn something
Thanks for wasting 2 minutes of my life

yup. you can hit the ball as hard as you want, but if you cant hit it in or close to the sweet spot you are screwing yourself out of your full potential.

And 90% of all statistics are made up on the spot which tells you nothing that you do not already know, a bit like this ad for golf lessons.

Strange how u assume rotating the forearms is wrong..it is the reason the shoulders turn ,shame you dont know biomechanics.
Oh yes you teach people hitting into nets in basement in london, your teaching tips belong in the cellars as well.
progolfer40 4 years ago
