  • @throwingupcomets If only you, and 75% of the world, could spell. *demigoddess

  • i don't. i don't know anymore.

  • this song is true for me a year ago

  • WhatHoney73: So right u r! IMO, her best song to date. I have experienced the message she's conveying & it's definitely not pleasent...Blues classic, period. Elvis Costello does a kickass cover, btw.

  • Just really love this song. Poetry in motion like only the avant-garde artist Fiona can provide in her songs.

  • this song is too beautiful for words - I play this with a nice glass of wine in a dark room

  • this song is hard to characterize. fiona is speaking about either

    1. shes having an affair with someone who has a woman.

or 2. shes just in love with a friend who has a woman

they both love eachother. thats why she says "i know" . she is content and knows that one day he will choose her. its not sad or sexy. its beautiful. a song many such as i can relate too. God bless you Fiona. we love you

  • @brianna0008 Her man is cheating on her and he wont admit it..

  • @madameguido Nope...She is having an affair with a married man. As she says, "I can't help you out, while she is still around." She is waiting for him to leave his wife, but knows deep down that he never will.

  • Listen to this song

Then go listen to Lou Reed - Perfect Day

    Then go figure

  • @blaatgvd ??? Figure what? Lou Reed could never sing worth a damn and Fiona can. The songs don't sound the same and the subject matter is different. Your point is?

  • @blaatgvd That's like saying Bob Dylan made "All Along the Watchtower" good. Sure, he may have written it, but others *cough* Jimi Hendrix *cough* made it the amazing song we view it as today. Fiona made this song as awesome as it is all by herself. I'm not denying the Lou Reed/Bob Dylan influence, but it is negligible compared to the awesomeness that Apple and Hendrix bring to the composition.

Tl; Dr: Lou Reed wrote it, Fiona Apple perfected it.

  • does anyone..... ever

  • I don't see how this song can be called "Sexy." Slow like Honey, yes, but I always interrupted this song as a sad one. She's waiting on this man, who is busy with himself and others. She won't ask questions or bother him; she just waits.

  • @maryjean20071 Uhhh......that's nice?

  • you cant just listen to this song with your ears, you have to listen with your heart and soul...beautiful song :)

  • I have an idea.....Fiona and Eminem need to meet and get married and have children. They are the only singers who sing about actual things, true feelings and true events!! WHO'S WITH ME???????

  • @abbymswf I sure hope that is some sort of sick joke.

  • u cant be serious

  • @abbymswf Eminem and Fiona? Oh my god i wish i had not just eaten. If you like Eminem that's fine but how can you compare a rap artist to Fiona Apple? Besides from what I think I know of Fiona Apple and to be truthful I really know nothing of what is in her heart, I don't think she is dreams of marriage and I don't think she wants children. I could very easily be wrong but if I had to play cupid, Eminem would not be on my list of choices. Maybe Quentin Tarantino or if I had my first choice, me.

  • @whathoney73 Exactly! =D

  • @whathoney73 Ah yes, Tarantino :)

  • I just heard the great news It's is true. Fiona is releasing a new album in the spring of 2011.

  • Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Fiona, happy birthday to you.

  • man..... whew

  • How can anyone hit the dislike button on this song.. wtf is wrong with you people? don't you have a soul?

  • beautiful

  • Fiona has a genuine soul.

  • Fiona Apple is the next Billie Holaday/

  • this song reminds me of the cutest girl on earth and how lucky I am to have met her

  • This song is about an affair?! She's waiting on a guy who's with another woman... I wouldn't call this a sexy song and I don't think the video particularly goes with the "story" However a wonderful song nether the less,

Thanks for uploads (Fiona is a beautifully talented artist who deserves so much more appreciation)!!

  • It's ok don't need to say it

  • She put out an announcement that she is working on an album in April 2010, no release date has been set. << I hope this is true. She was recently in a Haiti benefit for the Earth Quake disaster. "Love and Haiti, To: A Music Benefit." She hosted it and it went on in mid Feb. 2010. It brought her out of hiding and I am elated. She has a rare quality of soulful and deep yet uplifting musical talent. Got me through many hard times :)

  • @missrandom87 REALLY?!?!!? Oh, how I so hope it's true! :D

  • @missrandom87 ...releasing a new album? Oh how I hope that is true.... rare quality? yeah you could say that...you could also say she is the poet of her generation...and you could also say she has a genuine soul that no one can equal. You can also say the she is simply the best singer / song writer of all time. and you could also say that I adore her...you could say a lot of things about this special lady.....I wish I could say...hello Fiona....what a great pleasure it is to meet you.

  • After I hear this song, I feel sad.

    And oddly sexy.

  • fuck yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i feel like this song is about her relationship with David Blaine.

  • @andydenson2000 nope..he's not the one. ha ha..I have inside info. wouldn't you like to know.

  • Anyone know if she is working on a new album? I hope so she is amazing.

  • This song flows through my veins.

  • work was ok, I didn't make much money, but I danced to good music and everyone there was cool. Will try to sleep now.

  • This is such a beautiful video!

  • Being the "other woman" and coming to terms with the knowledge that he will never leave his wife. It gives closure and brings pain all at once. That can not be an easy place to be and I am sure it is a place I will never be.

  • this song is so beautiful..

  • I thought the username was let stalk stuff! and i was like wtf! eheheh!

  • fiona the best

  • Why is it that this song feels so familiar right now?

  • Comment removed

  • bittersweet...not sad exactly....bittersweet but strangely calming...so sometimes it's a little happy even for me...somewhat sad but in a strangely uplifting way....just sad enough to be utterly beautiful I guess.....it's really a love song about deeper love than a typical 'sexy" song. it's sexy i guess in it's intimacy which I guess is what sex is all about at it's best, but it's not really sexy...it's beyond that. it's like twilight on a cool night or something.

  • damn you said it right, good interpretation....

  • this is not a sexy song, it's a fucking SAD song. yer dumb, listen to the lyrics

  • haha thank you

  • you got it

  • BUSTED!!!

  • This song was never officially released so no radio play. Nice image though. :p

  • When the girl I loved left me this was the song playing on the radio on the long rainy drive home.

  • Comment removed

  • I ADORE her. Gosh.

  • this is one of the most beautiful songs.

  • One word; magical

  • one of the most beautiful songs ever.

  • I just noticed how much better than Norah Jones she is.

Norah Jones should be looking up to this woman.

  • Norah and Fiona are both goddesses of song. they don't make many like that.

  • damn straight

  • Fiona apple.. you are AMAZING. so jealous lol absolutely beautiful song

  • as always a beautiful performance but then again her live at the largo version is better. She is a wonderful talent. Her live versions can blow you away, check it out. Amazing she is even better live.

  • Nice photo compilation....... sexy is the perfect word to describe this song.

  • iwas a singer,but quit....i love fiona's style...if i started again i would sing songs similar.....cause i know!

  • why would you call her a liar?

  • I first heard this after a girl left me. I remember it was pouring rain outside. I found later she was cheating.

  • Fiona is the "Apple of my Eye" breathtaking performance !!!

  • Why is it my heart feels like it exists outside my chest when Fiona sings?

  • Probably because it does. That's what she does to us.

  • @colonelcobb74012 I know how you feel, I wanna cry every time I hear her sing, it's amazing..

  • @colonelcobb74012 B/c when she sings she sings with her heart not only on her sleeve but outside of her chest.

  • @colonelcobb74012 finally someone that gets me.

  • This is a song about being the "other woman." She's torn between her desire for the subject of the song, and her want for him to do the "right thing."

  • god i hope you know i meant that in sarcasm... cheating is not really sexy but her voice and the beat is romantic

  • she's saying that she knows he's not perfect but she doesnt care, and loves him- or something.. Ill have to look up the lyrics

  • I disagree. I believe she's dating a man who is already dating someone, "Baby, I can't help you out/while she's still around". When she says, "I know" she's saying she is sure that he loves her anyway. However, at the end, she says "its O.K., you don't need to say it-" but she never says I know. Its a song about how unsure she is about his feelings for her.

  • I always took it to mean that she has been seeing someone who is still hung up on an ex. she's in love with someone who she knows is using her for companionship but has no lasting feelings for her. it could be about having an affair, but this was my interpretation.

  • Yeah, that's how I always heard this song too.

  • The story of this song apparently, was that Fiona was "dating," a married man. Such an amazing song, amazing lyric, incredible phrasing, the way it grows emotionally towards that final line, it's musical drama. Brilliant piece of songwriting.

  • @ JosephCa64, couldn't agree more. i love this song. one of my favourites off that album. gives me chills when i hear it.

  • I can actually see this as a sexy song, and not necessarily sad sexy. Not that hard, even though it might not be intended to be taken that way.

  • i agree. this song the way it flows is very sexy. omg she is so amazing

  • shut the fuck up! like being controlled? :) A

  • Her voice is one of the most enticing, subtle instruments in her music. But the piano, the strings, the light drumming, it adds to the feeling. Thankfully her words are upfront. I wouldn't call the song sexy, but it's subjective what we get out of music.

  • When this song first came out, I pictured Fiona apple in a dark, smoky club (circa 1930's). The room is dark, there's smoke all around and there in the middle of the room I see Fiona sitting in a stool with a mic in front of her with a red dress. The video is in black and white except for her dress which is the only thing that draws your attention to the middle of the room. There's a pianist in the background playing her song as she sings. Wish she would have had the vision to make that vid.

  • IMHO this song is not necessarily sad and tragic. It's more "glass half empty or half full" and left up to time or your bias as to how it will turn out. It is a relationship at the crossroads. It's a crime the media trashed her like they did. She's a powerful artist respected by top musicians who often accompany her live. See a show!

  • i suppose it could make sense if you were looking at the pictures as two people having an affair

  • all the time...

  • OK i must of been living in a cave for the past 13 years as i had never heard of Fiona Apple until recently when i heard the wonderful "Love Ridden" on the radio, but this track is simply breathtaking! A stunning, stunning performance from a woman who is fast becoming one of my all time favourite artists!

  • This is sooo beautiful.....

    Fiona simply rocks!

  • Where are the pictures from?

  • This video really doesn't flow with the song.

  • I'm sure you'll make one that does.

  • I doubt it...

  • Ya, I doubted it too.

  • She may be the greatest female song writer alive in my book. She has the talent of Jill Scott, Erika Badou and so much control. she should have made a video for this...

  • beautiful ending to one of the greatest albums of all time.

  • amen to your comment.

  • love love this song and grateful for the video...although it doesn't exxaaaactly go with the song ha ha..she's not exactly happily in love in this one ;) but thankful nonetheless!!

  • thank you for making a video for this, since Fiona didn't. This is my favorite song to sing in the shower when no one is home..

  • that being said id say fiona apple is one of the most underrated artists of all time

  • I'm hoping you'll make a video full of tragedy, sadness, emo, emptiness, betrayal, & crying so that you can make a proper video for this song. I'm sure you'll make it the way you feel it should be made, to reflect all of the ache, pain, sadness, humiliation, anguish, grief, and loss. I simply prefer leaving a connection to this song with something less depressing. I'm a very bad girl!! Good luck.

  • well its just weird to have happy pictures with one of the saddest songs ever kinda like mixing oil and water. it just doesnt make sense to choose to like a song about tragedy and sadness if you dont like those things or focusing on those thiings. just kinda strange is all

  • LOL!! Are you always such a downer? This song really seems to disturb you. LOL!!!!! I am not prone to negativity is all. Some people don't let things keep them down as long or as much. Also, who the hell DOES like those things or focusing on them? Sheesh. "Oil and water"?--Too funny! What's strange is your deep concern that people walk away feeling like garbage whenever they hear this song. You make things more complicated than they are, but that's ok. Emo people are people too.

  • lol y do you get so mad at people who focus on what the song is about its kinda ridiculous lol if you dont like sad songs dont listen to them hahaha i luv how that makes me emo tho cuz i assure you that i am not

  • WOW!! You're kind of weird. It's obvious you're blowin' a head gasket. Nobody's mad but you. That's obvious. You've been emo from your first post. It's cool. If u want to feel like crap when u hear this song, that's fine, but if others don't, get over it. Emo people are people too...and sweetie, if u don't like it, then get lost. I don't need some goofy flake like you to tell me what I can and can't listen to. I just hope ur not a cutter. (Where do these crazies come from?)

  • This is not only my favourite Fiona song but my favourite song out of them all. It's just incredibly written... just her beautiful voice and the low background music all make a stunning finish. It has the power to make me smile and cry... sorry. I'm gushing. I just love it.

  • fiona apple rules. the song is as beautiful live as it is on record

  • rymr66, yeah she is great live. She was the opening act for coldplays twisted logic tour I went to, which was about 2 years ago before I even knew who she was<3

  • aw that makes me sad. lol. I've been a fan since I was 10 years old in 1997. her Tidal album was one of THE first records I ever bought.

  • haha!=)

    that's cool.

  • Oh, goodness! Talking about songs that have marked periods of my life! Fiona and Coldplay on the same night would be more than I could ever bargain for!

  • you should go to a coldplay concert!Im going to one in november!I can't wait!& Their new album is pure excellence!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Fiona... sempre meravigliosa!

  • damn right! i love her too! mmmmmmm this song mmmmmmmmmm thats all i can possibly say!

  • One of my favorite songs by Fiona. She is my favorite female singer. I love her.

  • the industry doesn't respect her because she's not as commercial as they want. nice tiny people.

  • Well then the industry can "kiss it". She's very talented.

  • In the words of Elvis Costello - "Fiona wrote that - that's a GREAT SONG". Elvis does a very different, yet equally moving version of this. Search "Elvis Costello - I Know (Fiona Apple Cover)" Enjoy

  • This song brings a tear to my eye.... She hits me emotionally....

  • if she got half of the credit she deserved, she'd be on top of al lthe charts, where she belongs.....

  • beautiful...
