Well, I have seen a few kids in our neurological hospital and they had nearly drowned months ago and were still in a coma, with devastating brain damage and poor prognosis. Kids drown or nearly drown every day and this stuff could save their life.
Not a bad idea I think. personally, I think I would hold their head above the water with my arms and guide them with my hands on their shoulders rather than their head, but just like anything with little ones, close and constant supervision is definatly required.
I think it's important to teach babies how to swim. Some people think it is crul but lots of babies and young children drown every year and this could help save thier lives
It is a HORRIBLE idea to do this to your baby. My youngest brother had this experience as a baby, and it scarred him for life. My mother didn't know it at the time, but it TERRIFIED him and he had recurring visions of water that terrified him all his life, and finally realized why when we told him he had swimming pool lessons as a baby.
@Carhop3000 please dont speak for all children. i know many people, including myself, who found a similar experience in infancy extremely beneficial. i've been swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving all my life and im so grateful to my parents for teaching me to swim at such a young age. your comment is just ignorant and narrow minded.
@veelizzy First I have to say if you have a mouth like that and you're maybe11 or 12 yrs old, you deserve to learn the consequences of acting like a low class A-hole. Also you are underage on the internet without constant supervision so technically your actions on many sites are illegal for. Just about any non child-oriented sites require and warn users under the age of 13 or so sometimes higher than that. Good luck suing anyone for anything.
at what age should a baby start to try swim? When my 2 month old boy gets into the pool, he tenses at the beginning, after a couple of minutes, he'd relax and kick a bit. We only have him stay very short period each time though.
@3myb4b33 babies normally can hold their breath for a little longer then an adult. they are safe. its not going to hurt them because babies are used to aquatic enviroments. my little one loves the water and the pool. shes been in pools since she was about 4 months old
@albanero its not hurting the baby?! its fun for baby to play in the water and at the same time baby is learning through play! when should you learn to float??
@emmaharfootliv4eva Calm down this aint hurting them. Next time your in the pool pay closer attention to how much pressure it takes to move a floating object.
my parents taght me and my two brothers to swim when we were little babies...every parent should do this...and then when a kid falls into the water they do not drown.
"However not all babys manage to backfloat on their own at first" - really, I would never of guessed. I bet the baby can only just crawl let alone swim.
@VideoPrincess100 lol when my brother was 3 years old he accidently jumped into the pool snd was floating backwards lol, thanks god he was still alive and my dad saved him in time
I think it really depends on the baby. If you listened closely to what the video said, it said that if a baby is distressed, stop the activity and try again in a few weeks. My daughter is 11 months old. From the time she was 9 months old, we had her in a pool to she how she reacted. She loved it and didn't want to get out. I've seen other babies freak out being in water.
Yeah except when the baby was in the womb it was getting oxygen from the placenta and umbilical cord, not through its nose and mouth. Forcing a baby to use its reflex to hold its breath, (which isn't enough air) into the lungs and physically tiring out a baby by forcing it to swim is just child abuse and wrong.
@12HorseGirl12 It's in water, dumbfuck! There's hardly any resistance. Why's everyone commenting unfavorably towards this video? Can't see anything wrong with what they're are doing.
When the baby was in the womb, it was floating in a sort of liquid or sac...When it's floating in the water, it feels like its in the womb again, so its comfortable...If the baby was uncomfortable or about to freak out, wouldn't it start crying?
I'm a lifeguard and im extremely against this. There is a period of time when a child needs to learn how to swim. I believe that this will make parents careless because they will think their child could swim... F trying to teach babies how to float... its total unnecessary..
@lerchiosi Well, actually, I think it's a bit different. If a baby at an early age has a sense of water, and the parents bring the kid often to the pool as he/she is growing up, he/she could grow up to be a very skilled swimmer(considering this might even be at the stage a baby is learning to walk. If the baby learns early to swim, it is like a second form of walking.
@Bana178 its teaching babies to survive if they get into water.
and them holding babies my there head is probably not a good persuasive thing but if you think about it.. if you go into the pool , and try it, its less dangerous then it looks,
but its your decision. if i got a child i would teach them how to do a little of this.
POOR FUCKING BABYS DRAGGING THEM BY THERE LITTLE SENSITIVE HEADS YA ARE SICK ASS HOLES TRYING TO PULL OF UR FUCKING BABY HEAD AND IF U LEAVE THEM IN THE RUSHING Water THEY CAN FUCKIN DIE ASSHOLES
@veelizzy you're an idiot, they're doing nothing of the sort. Seriously, you can work a computer but you can't see that for yourself? @veelizzy Are you really going to be that much of a dumb ass? They are keeping their heads up to where it wouldn't go under water so they wouldn't inhale it. Since the baby's are floating, it doesn't take much force to guide them through the water. The babies don't feel any pain cuz if they did they would start crying.
