I'm from Caracas Venezuela. All my childhood, each xmas, I played this record on and on because it was my favorite xmas record. But this song... this one is special. Not only it was my favorite song of the album, it was my granma's favorite christmas carol. She was daughter of a German inmigrant and she knew it in german, english and spanish.
when i hear Silent Night, I can't help but cry out of melancholy and joy remembering my granma, and if the version I hear is this one... well Merry Xmas
This was always my all time favorite song on the album. It makes me cry. My mom would always turn up the volume a little bit, because she knew I loved it so. Especially in German.

@CyraUK Me too. My first child was due on Dec 24th of that year. I had the ALBUM and had a poster. Yes I WAS an adult at the time!!
Unfortunately my child dies 4 weeks later.....32 years ago. I still cry.
