  • This is really cool. I wish I could get the hang of guitar,...one day.

  • @JorgeL721 thankyou for listening !

  • @freddym223 Would it be possible to do a tutorial on the chord progressions and maybe demonstrate which notes would be good for improvising with? This is one of my favorite jazz pieces, especially when it's instrumental.

  • @JorgeL721 a lesson like that would take too much time, and youtube only allows 10 minutes for a video. if you check out lesson # 10, i show how i improvise . and i show some color tones to improvise with .

  • @JorgeL721 by the way, i typed in the chords for this under "show more".

  • Thank you very much for your jazz guitar lessons, of every teacher on the internet you are the one that explains the simplest way to pick up the guitar and get the jazz flowing out without it feeling difficult.

  • thx for the nice comment deardito ! glad you like the lessons !

  • nice phrasing, feeling and tone !

  • Gorgeous tone and phrasing.

  • you are simply great sir :D

  • thank you very much for listening tgei346 !

  • Awesome. Wish I could play half that good! Jazz gut. Cool is forever.

  • thx for the nice comment n7mk !

  • I love this song and you played it beautifully. God bless you!!!

  • thx joe59d ! i love this tune also, even after playing it most of my life.

  • Just stumbled onto this - fantastic playing! Wonderful tone, wonderful ideas and wonderful phrasing - what more can anyone want. Well done - and thanks for posting this gem!

  • thx for the very nice comment twangbarfly ! and also for subscribing

  • Dear Sir, that sounds very melodic and refreshing. Are you a professional guitar player?

  • thx VinniePaah ! i was for 23 years

  • So nice, Freddy! Really well done! Please post soon, I really enjoy your playing and song choice so much. And, thanks for posting the chords!! :)

    -Sylvia

  • thx SCNP ! soon as it cools down

  • What kind of guitar are you playing freddy? thanks for the videos.

  • @clewi1091 "arbor aj135"

  • @freddym223 I just looked them up. Not an expensive guitar but you sure make it sound like a million bucks. Did you have a lot of work done on the action or was it pretty good when you bought it? It just goes to show you dont need a 5000 dollar guitar to make beautiful music. A lot of it is in the fingers and how you feel the music should flow. Thanks again.

  • @clewi1091 .i sent for it sight unseen which i've never done before.it's stock and was playable out of the box.i adjust the action as the weather changes

  • wow!!! i love jazz...u playing so beutiful ... thanks for your music...

    =).=)..

  • thx for listening kthyk0404 !

  • wow.. your plaing is so soothing and relaxing ! just epic man!!! i really like your playing.

  • thx a lot JonRHilmars !

  • Very pretty "mélodique" chorus. Bravo.

  • very good, is relaxing.

  • thankyou very much impisable !

  • really good man... i like your playing its really beautiful...

  • thx richoboss22 ! i like your playing as well ! nice job on "all of me"

  • Hey, you're normally playing chord solos.....

nice job with the single note stuff on this tune. I like it.

  • thx MrJimdeb ! lots of my posts are single note.i like to do both

  • beautiful- very smooth playing

  • thankyou very much mawalls2001 !

  • hi fred can you please tell me what make of guitar you use, and what you would recomend thanks for the lessons

  • hi jessestrum ! the brand of guitar is an "arbor"

  • i own 2 of them,and love em both,

  • pretty dreamy feeling.

  • thx fashank22 ! thats the way these old tunes are, kinda mellow, but fun to play over the neat changes

  • Oh one more thing... your rendition of Wave sent chills down my spine. Your technique has the Charlie Byrd signature also. Overall. your playing the guitar sends me into a romantic dream state. I hope you wSill post some more music videos.

  • You're way too modest. If Harold Bradley would some time off as the Prez of the performing artists union to listen to your masterpieces, he would be thrilled with your solo productions. First off, I couldn't decide whether I was listening to Tony Mottola or Harold Bradley, but your rendition of Misty tipped the scale for that distinguishable Bradley style.

  • thx,but i never listened much to tony and tried to copy harold on only one tune "tenderly".

    i copied barney kessel mostly

  • Just to clarify... I meant "Love Letters" aka Nat King Cole rather than Pat Boone's "Love Letters in the Sand". Thanks.

  • thx TimeInEternity ! i figured thats what you meant .hoping i'd get off easy since i posted "in thesand"

  • freddym, you're a superb electric guitarist. Your style reminds me of Harold Bradley. Could you play Love Letters for us? Thanks.

  • thx TimeInEternity ! i'm a big fan of Harold's.I did tenderly kinda like him,but not near as good :-(

  • man does that guitar sound sweet around the octave ! tremendous sweet-spot there..

that on eos "off the rack?" magic in your hands for sure, but it really sounds good

  • thx shallyshal1 !.sorry don't understand eos"off the rack?.the axe is stock if thats what you mean :-(

  • sorry, my bad ! that was a typo. my fingers dont work as well as they used to. it should read " one off the rack".. meaning just a stock, un-modified guitar

    shally

  • yes shallyshal1 .its stock

  • thx for commenting josicoyote ! i love this tune also !

  • Hi Freddy, I love your work!

Can you tell me what guitar you're playing?

  • thx Carlos ! both of my guitars are "arbor" guitars

  • really? did you change pickups or anything?

  • no.i grooved the nut to accept 12s.i made the pik guard smaller and lined up the neck pickup.

  • You are a true inspiration Freddy, wow man, if I can attain half of that I should on my way. You play phenomenally and with much soul. Great phrasing, smooth transitions, flowing, like water. Tone for days, fine touch... your notes dance with each other, like they themselves are waltzing, shuffling between themselves... Thank You for a wondrous sound and true inspiration-

    Monster Guitarist Randall Padilla

World's Fastest 23.5 notes per second

  • thx Randy! i dont know if i deserve such a nice compliment from such a fine guitarist :-)

  • Mr. Freddy,...you are the best. Teach me step by step, thanks.

    Izzati, SUrabaya, East Java, Indonesia.

  • thanks nyzzt ! just go through my lessons, stasrting on lesson#5

  • unbelieveble freddy wat a great sound and of course playing

  • thanks lhoegee ! i've always loved this old standard

  • Nice work! But Johnny Mercer had nothing to do with what we hear in this video. The credit for the music goes to Victor Schertzinger, who wrote it, and died the same year it was published, 1941!

  • thanks for setting us straight lipsbach! my apologies to Victor S.

  • fantastic gitaar work

  • thanks lhoegee! i've always loved this tune!

  • What in heck is in this guys right hand!? Looks like he's playing with a pocket comb! Great player; just never seen anyone use a huge pick or whatever it is. I thought it was reflection off the pickup cover but his hand is like three inches off the guitar. Interesting.

  • hmm,i use a very small pick and i'm 1/2 inch off the guitar.i have nerve damage so i hold my pick wierd :-)

  • Genial !!!!

  • Oh yes Freddy. Nice playing as ever.. The arthritis in my thumb got worse at this end. I gotta have metal-knee joints too. They interfere with the amp signal and I got to keep clear of scrapyards and magnetic cranes! Ah the perils of growing older! Lol!

  • Freddy, thanks for the encouragement Maestro !

It's the journey; the lessons learned; and making new friends along the way - that alone makes the trip worthwhile.

    -Bob

  • thanks Erik! i know one thing i can't do,and thats make a nice guitar like you and Steve did.

  • really really nice:)

  • really nice of you to drop by 721722xy!

  • Yes Fred, love this style, very well played with good sound and note choices, wonderful clear sound. The music from that Era sure has something, composers where always looking for a decent progression and fine theme, thats why I loooove Jazz, let's take the time-machine and go jammin with those guys, lol greets Vic.

  • thanks jazzguts,i still love those old tunes,i kinda got in on the tail end of that ara when i lived in los angeles which was a good jazz city in the 50's

  • Yeah Fred,I bet you saw many Jazz celebrities perform in those days, I had it with North-Sea Jazz in the older days,I used to go every year and see all those fantastic Jazz men who played mainstream and Bebop, but now the festival isn't half of what it was,too much commercial Stuff that has nothing to do with Jazz and improvisation, Greets Vic.

  • yes Vic! it was great!you could see the greats any nite of the week.and you could see no name players that imo were better than some of the greats

  • Great tune and finger-plinkin' Maestro Freddy. That killer 'verb's got me thinking Freddy Live! 8-)

  • thanks Diesel! it's an alesis microverb 2.got it off ebay.huge sound!

  • Very nice. You get a wonderful sound from that guitar. The high notes are so brilliant and the low ones so soothing. It's been persuading me to get me a 335.

  • thanks Pablo! i played prewar L5's till i got tired of feedback and trying to wrap my arms around a big guitar, and worrying about it getting stolen. 335's suit me very well

  • You're the one that made

    my dreams come true

    :)

  • there you go taticarzo! you know your lyrics.they don't write em like this anymore :-(
