There are so many great scenes in this film--right from the opening. This is one of my favourites. A great film, although not for the squeamish ( Spoiler ALERT! Spud's accident' at his girlfriend's; Renton and the toilet scene; the general reckless drug use, and that cold turkey hallucination Rents has).

when i saw this in the cinema the whole place erupted when it cut to Spud at the start of the interview shouting "naw...". A LOT of knowing glances and everyone was pissing themselves during the whole scene! exellent scene in an exellent movie

Spud wanted the job. If you read the book you'd see everyone that walks into Rentons life screws up one way or the other when he's using. He screwed Spud out of this job and playing goal for Man U. and got Tommy hooked on H.
