  • Nothing like those SENIOR CITIZENS holding up signs "Government hands off my Healthcare" Who the hell do they think runs their MEDICARE? and being in the medical field - Medicare is the best run medical program for us doctors !

  • Stupid white people.

  • @page371069 Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the newscaster said something about the organizer of that rally, I wonder who that was. probably an insurance lobby.

  • How much do these people pay per month for basic heath care. Proud and dumb, I am an american and this is ironic that many who could use the help are protesting it?! America can remain a free country with a good health care. A main issue is that so many lawsuits over injuries , car accidents fuel a need to keep this money pit. So many industries profit from people being injured, How many protesters are not covered? Why not let the country you believe in help you?

  • These people aren't protesting healthcare. They are protesting government run healthcare. Govt. can't even run medicare and medicaid! They have no business getting involved in healthcare. I want my health records kept private. I want to choose which doctor I will got to, not what the govt. dictates to me! We need torte reform, is what we need, not the govt. dictating how they will help seniors end their lives.

  • As a board member of several health care companies, Sen. Evan Bayh's wife has collected lucrative payments from some of the same businesses that would be most impacted by Congress' proposed overhaul of the nation's health care system.

    Look It up

  • You are so right. I think she continues to collect.

  • I am pretty sure she does which is why even though he has now said he will not oppose the bill.. we still need to keep an eye on him just to make sure. Actually we need to pressure the hell out of him as well as the others who may be thinking of voting against this. I have ways in which you can do that in the comment section of my profile.

  • "We don't know a whole lot.......and were not super smart"

    At least she was honest.

  • The entire bill.

  • What Bill? Has a completed Bill been put to a vote?

  • Kinda funny though.....if you look at these "so called" protesters....it looks more like a club for "bitter old white people" than an actual cross section of the indiana voting public.

  • I was there that day and I'm 41 years old and my husband is 44 (who was there as well). There were many other young people there. The camera just did not show them. Other young people had to work as this protest took place during the day.

This isn't about "old people" even though this health care plan will greatly affect them. I'm glad the older generation isn't sitting around taking this garbage, but they are standing up for their own good.

  • Specifically......what garbage are you referring to?

  • What did you expect, footage from Obamas election celebration or O.J. Simpsons first murder acquittal?

  • Ive emailed Evan Bayh three times and have yet to get a straight answer on his position on healthcare. Seems kinda fishy......Mr. and Mrs. Bayh must be busy counting the millions that Mrs. Bayh has recieved in payments from the healthcare industry.

  • "Moving this country toward socialism!!" You gotta love these Prophets Of Doom! Looking at the "protesters" in this vid....I can't help but wonder how many have returned their Social Security checks uncashed, or declined their Medicade. How many have eaten a "Gov. Subsidized Socialist" corn product today? After watching their protest, I'm confused. What exactly are they against?

  • Do these reporters have college degrees? Do they read? If baseball games were covered this shallowly, the fans would be disgusted.

This is a serious and very complex issue. It deserves better coverage than this.

The anchor started with a statement that Obama has put forward a plan to nationalize health care. This is not only shallow, it is flat out wrong.

    Sad to watch.

  • I absolutely agree, GraceTofall. I was shocked to hear them mispresent Obama's plan as an attempt to nationalize healthcare.

It's also telling that one of the protesters admitted, "we don't know a whole lot, and we're not super smart people, but we can at least come out ... and say 'I don't agree with what's going on.'" Shouldn't these protesters at least make an effort to learn something about the issue before they decide which side they're on?

US healthcare ranks #37 in the World.

  • These people are liers from the ins industry-organized

  • kooshari and grace tofall. I would suggest you two stop being so shallow in your view of what is happening right now and make an effort to learn something before you decide which side you're on. This healthcare plan will necessarily destroy the insurance providers. It is by design. Just another step in moving this country towards socialism. Seriously, you two need to read some books and learn some world history. I'm not a republican either, just an informed American.

  • Hello friend,

Thank you for your advice. I'm always happy when people want me to read and study more. I'm a strong advocate of these activities. You won't find a stronger one. It's advice I give to my graduate students every week. I'm a professor of history, by the way, at UCLA. Still, I will take what you say to heart and hit the journals a little harder tonight. They are piling up on my desk.

Written with a good spirit and a grin.,

    GraceTofall

  • Thank you for your reply. I must say I was quite surprised to find you are a professor of history at UCLA ! I would imagine what i posted was funny to you. I would love to pick your brain a little if you don't mind. Don't however, expect me to believe that college professors are incapable of being jaded by political allegiances. I am however, interested in any reference materials you could point me towards that could lead me to a different conclusion. Also written in good spirit with a grin ;)

  • Hey sonic. Try this. I wrote it. (I'll post it in 4 or 5 pieces):

What is the Health Care Fight All About?

At this point, this isnt truly a fight about health care delivery, about providing more value for our health care dollar, or about controlling or managing care in any way. That debate will take place, if (and only if) we get past this first phase. This first phase is simply a fight over insurance reform and regulation.

  • Hey Grace, Im gonna run little long with my posts to give you my position. You are correct in saying that this is not truly a fight about health care delivery, etc. Those are very small satellite issues that will be resolved once the larger issues are. I would like to say that we may never agree because I am a strong proponent of strict interpretation of the constitution. The constitution at it's essence restrict federal power = smaller federal govt. This was the intention of the framers >

  • Being a history professor you are probably more well versed in the articles of confederation and perpetual union than I. You know it was a failure in that it didn't give the federal govt. the power to tax therefore too much power to the states, hence not being able to pay soldiers, lack of supplies etc. during the revolutionary war. Never the less the intention is clear that they were aiming for a small federal govt. with limited power, therefore granting the highest level of freedom to the >

  • citizens. They lived in a time remember of monarchies and governments of complete control that practiced imperialism. The founding fathers were aware that unfortunately government was a necessary evil and that power granted to people in government corrupted men. I just want to share a few quotes from a couple of people I'm sure you recognize. " Experience hath shewn that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into >

  • tyranny" - Thomas Jefferson "I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them" - Thomas Jefferson " The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not " - Thomas Jefferson " If it be asked, what is the most sacred duty and the greatest source of security in a republic ? The answer would be, an inviolable respect for the >
