  • eddie van baldy is cracking me up !! haaaaaa!

  • Me and my friend Andy Price would get together sometimes for fun, call ourselves the Minus Two Jazz Quartet, one would pick up the guitar, one the bass and we'd just play anything, no key, any time signature and it sounded just like this - we'd be laughing so much our stomachs hurt, but when we listened back to the recordings they sounded amazingly authentic! Still got those tapes somewhere, Sunrise at Dawn was my favourite. Thanks for the memories and making me laugh!

  • what the fuck? this is a fake

  • MY GOODDDDDDD HAHAHAHAHA

  • Sounds like regular jazz to me

  • @gustavito7 so this is what real jazz sounds like to y'all? Now I get it why certain people don't like jazz.

  • @PalabraViva3 Nah i'm kidding! to play jazz it requires a high level of musicianship and it is a very good music style!

  • this is just sooo wrong!!!! probably all the world class jazz musicans who are dead are turning in their graves now

  • It's funny at 4:53 when the Bassist solos and it's a bunch of ghost notes XD

  • IT IS SO PROFOUND I FIND MYSELF CRYING

  • amazing bass solo

  • Lame! Not nearly as good as the stsanders.

  • This is FUNNY!...I snorted my milk out my nose..!

  • Great performance

  • nooooo why oscar ?!!! :D

  • I have watched this for years.

    It slaughters me.

  • Brilliant. I almost pissed myself.

  • WTF 28 DISLIKES

  • hahahahahahaha this is terrible.......i believe this is the video of Cakewalk which is a kick ass song...

  • Eat my loose shit

  • love the ukelele like guitar sound

  • rdangelo:

If someone made a shred of cecil taylor, would we be able to tell the difference?

  • @antoniodcz Yes because it would be melodic

  • I think it's the applause that is so brilliant- you think- hey this must be real? ....then....hey.... WTF..!? -ROFLMFAO!

  • I beeen searchin for new "shreads" and lmao every time. Sad tis true, but hey, only the select can appreciate it! ... And we know where the actual best can be found!

  • Joe is realy getting down on that nylon sounding guitar!

  • Amazing fretwork on the drums with pure genious furniture arrangement. I have never seen a bassist play applause like a small pianist plays a sustain pedal!! Never to repeated like this ever again!

  • Even the end is genius!

  • freakin genius! sooo funny.

  • I wonder what a Cecil Taylor Shreds track would sound like...

  • This is borderline offensive . . . but at the same time, I am LMAO!!!

  • classic. I like the applause, is that a muted banjo patch for the guitar

  • Oh man, this is so funny!

  • All I can hope it won't come to my mind during a funeral.

  • Nothing is sacred, I love it! Maybe someday I'll be featured in a "shreds" video. Keep up the great work!

  • HAHA I think Joe Pass's guitar's has been re-recorded by a violin looool so funny =) I love all those shred ! And the funniest thing is to see comments of people who think this is for real ! aaah come on now !!

  • Is there a book that I can get that shows me when they are hitting the right notes and not? Jazz is not dead just smells funny.

  • Did This Reach The Spirit of Rahsaan Roland Kirk,,,Beam Up.. Encore..

  • My apologies, 4:48 xD

  • 5:06 Bass solo! xD

  • a masterpiece

  • a gooooooosh, the cake walk. i was FUCKING WAITING for the trading part. beautiful :D

  • aahhhhh, the sweet melodic sounds of supple jazz. It's beauty makes me want to cry.

  • I'll bet it took them quite a while to rehearse this. No doubt about it.

  • Love the plinky-plinky guitar sound

  • Where's Ornette when you need him? HA!

  • Hahahahahahahahaa at the bass player!

  • A fantastic shred, but some jazz shows are actually worse than this, usually the ones that begin with, "I'd like to thank the Canada Council for the Arts for sponsoring this event."

  • @uzebdrumz HAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • is that atonal music?

  • hahaaa, I forgot about this. This is painful to listen to. bwaahahaa

  • when it showed the guitar player i was crying

  • Autumn leaves, the producer leaves, the announcer left running also, with tears in the eyes and a desperate look...

    A monument to shredsdom this.

  • Some of it actually sounded like Jazz. I think it should have played even more poorly. For example, a Casio keyboard sound would have been hilarious

  • what a beautiful version of "Autumn Leaves"..

  • LOL

  • i never comment here, but that is THE most amazing sounding clinketar player i've ever heard...

  • that's cause it's Joe Pass on his custom made clinketar. they don't ALL sound that good.

  • Comment removed

  • even though not perfectly in sync, for me this is the funniest shreds thing right after paco de lucia. the absurd piano playing and especially the plunkity plink guitar are fantastic.

and when you think it won't get any funnier, the bass player and the drummer have their solos.

this is truly great shredding. i cried from laughing...

  • lmfao this almost made me cry but not from laughing so hard but just ughsdfahslkfhg it's so fuckign funny

  • lol 1:10

  • wicked double kick at 5:15!!

  • Bloody Marvellous. You are a very naughty boy Mr T.

  • Some musicians play jazz like this seriously...either because they evolved (?)

from plain vanilla bebop to the

playing-piano- with-boxing-gloves. Others play this way because they don't have talent for harmony, melodies and solos....

More than one viewer-listener may say YEAH when he,she,it listens to this fuuny

    video! :-)

  • IT's amazing how many people don't "GET" shreds!!!! Hilarious stuff...

  • is´t so incredible :-))) What I like is the expression of the musician´s faces in relation to the "music".

  • Somewhere Ornette Coleman is watching this video and saying, "Yeah! Now that's how you PLAY!"

  • Best "Shreds" video of all time!

  • Guitar part is by far the best.

  • i cant stop laughing! god this is great! Go Joe!!! watching this one over and over.. great wrok

  • а зачем так кощунствовать???

  • ну при чём тут кощунство?

посмотрите ещё Shreds-видео, они очень смешные. Например, пародия на Kiss.

Есть какая-то безумная, сумасшедшая прелесть в изображении виртуозности, превращающейся в какофонию.

    очень хорошо))))))))))

  • Не забывайте, вскрывайте видео Эрика Клэптона! Great Video!

  • И вот нахера так было издеваться? сами бля играть нихуя не умеет придурки/!!!

  • I am such a HUGE fan of Oscar Peterson and the rest of the quartet here but, oh dear, I don't quite know what to say about this..........errrr.........racket! I've seen this quartet 'live' in London, England, more than once and I know they are absolutely brilliant, top class, musicians in their own right. As clever as this piece may be, it is definitely not for me!

  • im sure everyones told you by now, but the audio track has been replaced with one that is comedically poor. Its funny.

  • Replaced or not, as I've already said, "it's definitely not for me!" Yuk!

  • Um... You sound like you don't know this is an overdub...

  • 0:58

    rooooooooofffffl

  • this is great-sounds a lot more modern than a lot of other peterson stuff

  • 3:07 hahahaha!

  • LMFAO AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

  • Love the ending with the high-bass notes! I cant stop laughing at this whole thing... Great work!

  • oh god I love that guitar!

  • Buddy givin it shit pluckin on the old guitar

  • Here is the even funnier part-some free form jazz actually sounds like this and is passed off as an actual "art" form

  • awesome...edifying...spiritual... gratifying...above all MUSICAL...OSCARS BEST !!!!

  • I can't believe people would actually spend all the time to muck this music up but I'M SURE GLAD THEY DO. I haven't laughed my ass off like this in years.

  • I don't know what's more fun, watching these or pretending like I don't know they're real and seeing people explain how they are fake.

  • 3:30 Joe stops and takes in the crowd!!

    LOL!

  • Comment removed

  • This is improv-squared.

  • Great work, dude !

  • I lol'd!

  • Brilliant. I was going to jump off a cliff today, won't now.

  • I seriously have not laughed so much in a long time!!

I need to get out more.

  • i am quite sure i m gonna get lots of red handz 4 that comment, but i really do not like it i wish i would, .. but i really do not like it, it is simply too hard and chaotic.

  • haha, its cause its faked

  • ooo fuck.. know i c it.. shit embarassing xD

  • your missing the point! check out the mark king, micheal manring and victor wooten parodies by koertz

  • sounds like my cats on the piano

  • lol at the bass player!

  • Regarding the copyright infringment; it just proves how pretentious and up themselves jazz fans can be!

    Great stuff!

If you fancy a real laugh look up Machine Gun by Peter Brotzmann, this shred is melodic compared to it!!!

  • not half as in sync as st sanders but still pretty funny

  • Oh my gawd!! It's the guitar player that kills me the most!

  • kinda catchy.

  • holy shit 2:23, hilarious haha

  • amazing I didn't know Oscar Petersen was playing this kind of stuff, brilliant

  • I love this - I can't stop laughing about the absurdity of the musicians' seriousness and devotion whilst "playing" complete bullsh*t. Thanks a lot for this one!

  • actually i like this

my new neighbours will be awaked with this on monday, at 5 a.m. #k.

  • Amazingly, I actually found this quite relaxing to listen to.

  • now thats funny!

  • Tibenham t'a rien compris au jazz ta vidéo est une merde lol

  • I knew and worked with Oscar and he would have laughed himself sick with this. Great people know fun when they see it. They don't go around thinking of themselves as untouchable.

    Lighten up people!

  • This shit is really funny. People need to lighten up.

  • this is a form of respect or you can call it another kind of comedy. I guess Oscar would have laughed about it, he had humour.

  • I hope you're joking. If not--get over yourself. Damn near all famous people love to be parodied

  • mustMUSTMUST...MUST....?????????WHO ARE YOU...the music nazi?...who appointed you the DECIDER???

    GET OFF YOUR HIGH CHAIR!

  • haha, again shobby71,same comment only other name.think you have big problems.

  • Dude you are soooo stupid. Oscar would have laughed himself. You would also laugh if someone makes a video like this of you.

  • the cello's or wathever's player is so funny

  • A little respect...original name is Cakewalk

  • AHAHAhaa. This is such a lovely tribute. I love StSanders' work, and I appreciate this as a sort of tangent to his originals. I love that you've explored another genre but still kept in that goofy applause. Well done!

  • Way too long... It's annoying after a while

  • LMAO!!!!! 3:26 is my favorite part!A masterpiece right here.

  • This is just sacrilege. Hilarious. This is how jazz actually sounds to a lot of people. some of you are just music snobs.

  • I had to stop at 2:15 because I was utterly disolved into a fit of laughter!

  • yeah..this video is in the top 3. I am laughing to point where people are staring..

  • They took down all the original "shreds" videos by StSanders. The funny thing is that various users have not only uploaded probably all of the originals, but created so many more shreds videos.....so taking down StSanders videos was actually kind of counter-productive on Youtube's part lol!

  • this is done perfect, i think its one of the best ive herd

  • Ooh yes the hell it is!

  • dumb.... im not getting angry about making fun of joe pass and oscar peterson.... its just honestly not funny

  • I agree! Show some respect, he is to BIG to make fun of him!

  • Woah! It's really great to hear Oscar play so out

  • Fantastic lol

  • I got tears rolling down!

  • I can die now, I have absolutely seen it all now! hahahahaha!

  • I am crying of laughter!

  • the best shreds,i'm laughing and crying

  • lol i can play like that

  • This video is real, they all turned up steaming after a heavy night on the White lightning.

  • wow dude, chill out. or maybe just go die? :-) can't you take a joke?

  • Wow! It's just a joke dude...

  • well THIS just goes to show what a f***** up 'sense of humour' IS!!

    Me no laugh!?? sorry...

  • Yo!

  • On the contrary look at the views.

  • But it's not NHOP

  • Nils Pederson's virtuosity on display from 4.45! Especially loved Joe Pass's plinky plonk sound.

  • Oscar is totally KILLING IT!

  • That is the legendary Joe Pass, he really has come on leaps and bounds!!!!!!!!

  • Cakewalk without playback :-D

  • that bald guy on the guitar is fucking crazy HAHAHLMAO

  • sublime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sublime? Where?

  • Please do some Buddy Rich!!!!

  • How'd they audience know when to clap? ROFL.

  • My head hurt after watching this. From laughter. Laughing at Joe Pass. Man, thats got to be a sin.

  • Please, tell me about it.

Go ahead and destroy Slash and Eric Clapton, but THIS IS JOE PASS AND OSCAR PETERSON FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!

  • Well they're esteemed musicians for sure, but I don't find any of these vids disrespectful, just funny.

  • this is the funniest shit I've ever seen!!!

  • hey even for a shred its a great piece of music here...

  • oh my god it's great, i can't stop laughing

  • I SWEAR TO GOD---THAT'S THE FUNNY !@# @#$%^& @#$ THING I HAVE EVER SEEN ON YOUTUBE. God Bless whoever made this crown jewel.

Can someone recommend a emergency cleaning service?!

  • Classic!

  • hahahahahahahhaha

    make more

  • Laughter is medicine for the soul, and this piece of work here is an entire PHARMACY! I have loved jazz all my life and have seen Oscar live in Los Angeles. This stuff here is hilarious!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • The guitarist is awesome.

  • you will rot in hell for this of course... even though very funny :^)

  • JOE PASS IS GOD

  • is that joe pass? he sucks

  • yeah... of course...^^

  • You have to play something every time a finger hits a fret on the guitar parts to get the effect but this is funny. I would've liked to hear some overdriven wah solo that would be great hehe.

  • Unbelievable - this is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Absolutely....hilarious!

  • I'd love to be able to purchase the rights to this ... uh ... "concert", and air it on the Ovation Channel (arts channel on the cable network here in Australia), just to see what reactions I'd get. Would there be laughter? Outrage? Both?

  • When I first heard this composition, I thought Oscar was having a stroke or losing his grasp on the song. But I realize that this piece is supposed to sound like this.Obviously the audiance was very receptive to the music & got it.I can visualize this being a soundtrack in a movie of a person doing drugs.Good job though

  • hilarious!!! hahaha
