Had it done myself. Only should be done if the person that will be getting it done wants it done. I have two kids and know for sure I don't want any more. Even if I got a divorce I still wouldn't want to have any more children...there are enough broken families out there. the pill isn't fully effective in the way that a vasectomy is. and some women (myself included) can't take the pill because of the way those hormones affect their bodies. besides, it's unfair to make women be responsible for that. if the husband also wants to prevent pregnancy, he should contribute, too. it's not a one-way street.
If you can't take the pill thats your problem. Ulike your idea were its the male responcability, it should be both the male and the females responability to prevent pregnancy. Use condoms, take the pill, or dont have sex. If you would force your significant other remove their genitalia so you dont get pregnant, instead of taking a pill that might make you a little moody, you don't deserve to have sex.

It isn't just a woman's job to be in charge of birth control. Faking pregnancy for years (the pill fools your body into thinking it's pregnant) as well as taking the hormones has serious risks and side effects as well. (breast/ovarian cancer, trouble conceiving, thrombosis, the list goes on.) For women, it's full-blown surgery to get your tubes tied and has serious effects on your hormone levels. Plus, hello: LABOR'S HARD!!! For men it's a quick n easy n reversible fix. I'd def have him do it.

Female hormones that control voice, breast size, etc... are developed in the ovaries. She should definitely NOT have her ovaries "plucked out," as that would be very dangerous. When a woman is fixed, her fallopian tubes are cut and tied or blocked in some other way to block eggs from passing from the ovaries to the uterus. The husband having a vasectomy is safer than having her ovaries "plucked" and wouldn't mess with his hormones.

It's a LOT less painful for a guy to get clipped than a woman. It's a horrible recovery for a woman, and it's like a week or LESS recovery for a guy. You guys need to educate yourselves before you judge either of them.

@delightracardeanne - It's 2 days recovery, my hubby did it and went back to work on the third day, provided he was walkin like he rode a horse for 12 days but, it was do able.

To all the people that say she should get her tubes tied...that is major surgery with tons of risks! A vasectomy is a small procedure involving local anaesthetic...this choice is easy.

Yes she did, he backed out in the end...she left the decision up to him. Are you guys all 13? Grow up, no ones genitalia is removed. No need for exaggerations. Sometimes women do elect to get sterilized and sometimes men actually choose to as well, on their own.

the pill isn't fully effective in the way that a vasectomy is. and some women (myself included) can't take the pill because of the way those hormones affect their bodies. besides, it's unfair to make women be responsible for that. if the husband also wants to prevent pregnancy, he should contribute, too. it's not a one-way street.

If you can't take the pill thats your problem. Ulike your idea were its the male responcability, it should be both the male and the females responability to prevent pregnancy. Use condoms, take the pill, or dont have sex. If you would force your significant other remove their genitalia so you dont get pregnant, instead of taking a pill that might make you a little moody, you don't deserve to have sex.

It isn't just a woman's job to be in charge of birth control. Faking pregnancy for years (the pill fools your body into thinking it's pregnant) as well as taking the hormones has serious risks and side effects as well. (breast/ovarian cancer, trouble conceiving, thrombosis, the list goes on.) For women, it's full-blown surgery to get your tubes tied and has serious effects on your hormone levels. Plus, hello: LABOR'S HARD!!! For men it's a quick n easy n reversible fix. I'd def have him do it.

Female hormones that control voice, breast size, etc... are developed in the ovaries. She should definitely NOT have her ovaries "plucked out," as that would be very dangerous. When a woman is fixed, her fallopian tubes are cut and tied or blocked in some other way to block eggs from passing from the ovaries to the uterus. The husband having a vasectomy is safer than having her ovaries "plucked" and wouldn't mess with his hormones.
