About the germs: not all germs are harmful, only the ones that are found in hospitals. Parents bring their "commensal" germs with them, and these are in fact protective, and much more so if mother is breastfeeding. How does one deal with this: can be tough, but EVIDENCE is good, and there is good evidence for fewer and less severe infections with skin-to-skin contact.
