A $15,000 K-9 is more valuable than some drugged-out thug with temper issue. There was no effective time to send a dog at that point. And not only the suspect would have split the dog's skull in half, he could have easily killed the cop with a single blow to the head if the dog didn't attack right. No amount of muscle juice can save you from a good swing at the skull with a heavy crowbar. Plus the cops did try to tase him first but he was so high on something that he pulled the wires out.

Being a war veteran, I kinda know what I'm talking about here, but the police SOPs sure as hell ain't more extreme than the SOPs we had. He could have let the dog go or simply shot the suspect in the shoulder. With adrenaline going, and the fact I'm sure he saw his partner did not have his weapon drawn, the officer did the thing that made the most sense to do and defended his partner using lethal force. A $15,000 K-9 is more valuable than some drugged-out thug with temper issue. There was no effective time to send a dog at that point. And not only the suspect would have split the dog's skull in half, he could have easily killed the cop with a single blow to the head if the dog didn't attack right. No amount of muscle juice can save you from a good swing at the skull with a heavy crowbar. Plus the cops did try to tase him first but he was so high on something that he pulled the wires out.

The suspect got what he deserved from the action he possed toward the officer after he was either tazed or peppered sprayed in the face which had no affect on the guy. I'm not sure the officer followed proper escalation of force protocol. Being a war veteran, I kinda know what I'm talking about here, but the police SOPs sure as hell ain't more extreme than the SOPs we had. He could have let the dog go or simply shot the suspect in the shoulder. With adrenaline going, and the fact I'm sure he saw his partner did not have his weapon drawn, the officer did the thing that made the most sense to do and defended his partner using lethal force. Tricky situation.

1) the man was tasered in the FACE It did nothing, he tore it out of his face like it was nothing.
2)The K9 is considered a SWORN OFFICER. Meaning, someone who kills a K9 gets the sentence of killing an officer. Also, not all K9s are trained to take down a suspect.
3) He showed aggressive force with a deadly weapon toward the officers. After the first 5 shots the man was still standing and walking away. Officers are trained to shoot to STOP, which is why they fired more shots.
