  • Waaaaa!

  • Easily one of you best videos. :):):):):):):):) Please don't stop making these inspirational bites.

  • Steve, GREAT JOB!!!I really enjoy your videos....I love the way you speak to your audience; you made your lectures really easy to understand/easy to grasp the point! I am hooked and have been listening to them over and over again:)

    Thank you!

  • @tallcatus Thank you for your inspirational comment.

  • Want what you have, or you will always want what you don't have and have what you don't want.

  • I hate needles lol

  • life does suck

  • "Then, when it comes to our adulthood, we don't even know who we are."

I'm struggling to wake up right now. To stop "sheep-walking" as they say. Thank you so much, that sentence has helped me realize a lot.

  • The reason I think we sacrifice our happiness in order to feed our 'ego's is quite often to persue money.

  • right on man

  • In order for me to give a flying CRAP about an-others opinion,,,, I would have to respect you first! Remember that.

  • Pure awesomeness!

  • people commit suicide because the know the absolute truth life sucks and having life is a burden full of nothing but suffering while religions just add sugar on it by saying those are just trials given by "god" thats just bullshit and bullcrap it only means god himself if the one giving us pain and suffering by the life god gave us? being alive makes a person full of pain and suffering thats why life totally sucks

  • Steve, I applaud you for making this video

    ;p

  • Wahhhh! Love that. Genius is knowing how dumb we are. That was my big genuis moment - my complete buffoonary and after that it was all like "wow whoever made trees is genuis" Grass is cool too and what about colors? Now that is genuis!

  • @manyhumbles And not caring if you spell stuff wrong is pretty genius too!

  • How do you know these geniuses exist if they took they're genius to the grave? Lost notebooks? Just wondering. You seem to be pretty smart but don't go all sheen on me. I create unusual things and get laughed at but I know I am a genius in a way, a creative genius not one with a super high IQ. I'd like to think so...maybe I'm delusional but i don't think that because of any critics. I'm simply open to any possibility.

  • life does fucking suck

  • What you say is very true, but for some reason I never really fit into that category of worrying about what others think, but I do like being liked & the respect of others, but won't pay a price for it.. I was never an offensive person, and well liked enough by other people, & I always respect others feelings. I never conform to anything I don't like or find offensive just to be popular. They either respect that , if not I go my way & they go theirs. I've always been a little independent.

  • "We sacrifice our happiness to feed our ego's." You're awesome. This is the best thing i have ever heard.

  • not understanding why "vagabon" how does that improve life.....life does not suck, only the people that think it does make it so. get over yourself Vagabon.

  • This is one of the best videos you got, thank you for telling that. i love what you have said

i will try to watch all of your videos and try to have some fun from life. i am really looking for talking to you on skype.

  • News flash:we're children of our times; we all conform to a certain extent. Not conforming is trickier than it might seem, because the culture even defines what a non-conformist is supposed to look like. You mentioned nerds and geeks- in the '50s, they were the model of conformity; our current notion of "coolness", to which kids conform now, were originally '60s rebellions against that model. Rather than caring about trying not to care about what people think about you, don't care about caring.

  • CHEERS TO THAT!! your very empowering man :)

  • I'm very inspired. Most of the time I am controlled by fear, and I want it to stop. I'm glad I came by your video.

  • Did you make this video because it bothered you that your "Life Sucks" video is one of your top viewed video and you didst really like that?

  • @tostrong4you I made it because many people completely misunderstood the "Life Sucks" video.

  • @vagabondsteve Ohhh, because I became very confused. I remember completely agreeing with the "Life Sucks" video but then I saw this video and still completely agreed with it. So I was like, whats going on? How can opposites both be right?

Then I re-watched both of them and realized that they weren't opposites. But I was still interested in the reason for the title choice.

  • steve your the man. all of this stuff is spot on. You've gotta be able to 100% love the dude you look at in the mirror everyday and NOT CARE what others think

  • LOOOOOOOOOOVE YOU STEVOOOO!

  • ego junkies indeed

  • Steve, this is now officially my new favorite video of yours. For me, it is easily the best video you have ever made. Thanks for making it and thanks for sharing your insights with all of us in InternetLand.

  • @BillyOhRayBob90210 Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for commenting.

  • @vagabondsteve steve, i wish everyone saw the world the way we do. true what you say, it does make u feel truly free and spiritully FREE, it feels great just being so honest to yourself and others, its an amazing and life changing way. but i must say, i really feel so very sad, because i look at others and i see they'r trapped just like i used to be, i want to make them see life the way its supposed to be, but i think its only achieved by awakening something inside, its hard to describe

  • @MrSweatyZombie The best way to help others is to let them find you. Example like this YouTube channel or my Twitter page. The next best way is to be an example through your actions. Actions speak so loud people can't hear a word you're saying. The most frustrating way to help others is by giving them unsolicited advice. I speak from experience.

  • I really like this video. The things you say make a lot of sense. I have a question though...

Is there a difference in wanting something material and wanting another human to be your, for example if someone wants a companion, or wants to have a baby.

I totally get when you say dont want things to show off to others or for reputation. But what about if someone desires something, for example wanting to have a baby, without any possible reason or explanation? Perhaps thats our true nature as wel

  • @Hirra20 With all desires examine the source. The desire to have a baby could be a desire to fill a spiritual hole within. Human beings are perpetual void fillers. Always moving on to the 'next thing' to make us feel whole. However others have babies due to strong unconscious biological impulses. In all things it's important to make decisions consciously. Examine the source & motivation of desires.

  • I'm so glad i'm learning these things while im still only in high school. I'm learning to accept me ..for me. I don't stress because I don't have a bf. when I don't get approval from others.

im content with what is and i try to live one moment at a time and i'm loving it!

i can't lie and not say that there are times where I get upset about things but then i remember words of yours or eckhart.

    i can't thank you enough :)

  • @efan4evr You're are blessed to know these things in high school. Most suffer their entire lives without ever awakening. Thank you for commenting.

  • For me a good model for this way of being is Forrest Gump. Gotta love Forrest. No ego forethought. Just run! Good vid!

  • As always your videos are very enlightening steve.

I do believe a greater force led me to your videos, for I have been able to put a lot of things in order in my mind. Much has changed in me on the last few months and I must thank you for that too. Your words have helped me understand myself a little better and bring more balance to my mind and peace to my heart.

Keep doing what you're doing, it helps people.

  • @VnDsky Thank you for your inspiring comments. It's the reason I make videos.

  • It's annoying when people are labeled as hippies for thinking outside the box when hippies were conformists themselves. They stood for an certain ideals of freedom like excessive drug usage, music, indian clothes, etc. But they just copied each other. It wasn't authentic freedom. Yet, somehow it is culturally ingrained in people to label others who think differently or in an open minded way as hippies. I hate it when people call me a hippie for talking about "weird" things.

  • @TDP788 Suggestion: don't label things or people as 'annoying' or 'hate it' when people call you a hippie. Otherwise you'll be subjected to internal highs and lows based on the actions of others. You give your power away. Rather just accept things & people as they are and use these experiences as fodder for spiritual growth. Our judgments & expectations of life and others is really what causes us to suffer.

  • Let those who choose to fit in do what they do. Why does it bother you so much? Our job is to envision a better world to help them see it too. If we all feel sad about how things are, nobody will feel better as a result. The solution is in allowing everyone to be as they are and trusting that they are ok, no matter what they choose to do at the moment. This is unconditional love that can change worlds without resistance. Just a thought to throw in...

  • @tmolodtsova "Allow everybody to be as they are and trusting they're ok" works for those who don't want to grow. For those who seek liberation: we need to hear the voices of non-conformist. Many people are unhappy with the superficial bill of goods they've been sold and long for more depth in life. I'm a much better person because of others who were 'bothered' with the status quo and thus blazed a path of independent thinking, which I've benefited greatly from.

  • i don't need your approval steve!!! i don't need your approval!!

  • rock on buddy!~!~!~

  • ...open. I love doing that. I cannot stand this pretentious bullshit. These walls people put up as protection. I put myself in line of the firing squad first. Then one by one, people open up. One by one they admit, that one listens to Abba. The other admits he/she listened to Kylie MInogue. But we're all human beings, and we all play the 'game' so to speak. We all know the rules and faux pars. I love breaking those down subtly. As you said, it's about the ego, and reduction of it.

  • @Domzdream Exactly! And this too will pass :)

  • @Domzdream Amen. I like The Backstreet Boys & the color pink.

  • @vagabondsteve

    haha. Cool.

I think if people just let go, and listened to their bodies a bit more. Or their wants, like listening to this 'lame' music and denying it the pleasure it might give you, I KNOW people would be a lot happier. I personally used to have a big compunction regarding this subject when in my teens. It was always hush hush. Then I grew up, thought about it, and just said screw it, I'll listening to what makes me feel good inside. ANd like I said before, this...

  • @vagabondsteve

...this discarded all the people who didnt want to be with you- all the pretentious wankers.

I do thesame thing with food. If feel the instincts drawing me towards a certain kind of food, I dont deny that. Like having the need for vitamin C. OR a glass of milk. So I've grown very attentive towards my bodily requirements. I've therefore always been balanced within. At least as much as possible.

    Take care, Steve.

  • What's wrong with being just simple and ordinary?

  • @MasterJonze Nothing!

  • Yup. THat's why I openly admit it to all my friends that I listen to this (supposedly) lame music, or a lame movie. It weeds out people who want to like for me being me, versus people who want to be around me for the image. Like, I've got a VERY rounded taste for music. I like ALL genres. So, I'll listen to Slipknot the one day, and I'll proudly tell my friends that I like to listen to the Spice girls. In doing so, people open up around me, because I'm true to form, and I crack their shells...

  • Steve, Spot-on as usual! But I'd argue that there's a big BUT: You speak as though from a high mountain peak, describing a beautiful view, and, yes, it's beautiful, pure, and true. But to experience the view, one must climb the mountain, and endure the inevitable trials and setbacks along the way. There are no shortcuts. You point the way, and encourage the climbers, which is awesome! But each climber must make his/her own way up the mountain, and there WILL be pain and effort along the way.

  • @byronand5 100% agree. Thanks for pointing that out.

  • Couldn't have said it better myself. The geniuses throughout history played with ideas that the majority of people in history couldn't even try to begin to comprehend. Think Copernicus, Einstein, etc. It's seen today as well. There are many closed minded people in the world and if people with different ideas about life don't ever share their ideas with the world, how can anyone know what could be learned about the world unless they exchanged ideas or opinions?

  • But what i would really like is to feel independent around people and maybe even enjoy being around people in general and not just a few people with who i dont get the feeling that im changing myself. I dont know if thats possible.

  • @JNiina Just be yourself in all situations and you'll attract the right people because of your confidence and authenticity.

  • It's true but not everyone have courage to be against odds to face the risk... In history, great artist, genuis, great writers/novelist is not accepted on their time but still do want they want to do. They have tons of struggle, ridicule and not being accepted by the people in their time. In longterm they become masters of their trade. They work is acknowledge mostly after their death but still they do what they want in life even the hardship and live their life with what they want.

  • I would like to be like that, independent, but then i get scared if i can really make it or if i can really trust myself that much. Im kind of a hermit because when im around most people, i start to lose myself. Like you said in the video, start behaving differently. I might find something to admire in them and then change my behaviour to match them or not be myself anymore and i hate it so much when that happens that id rather be alone.

  • @JNiina Insecurity & approval seeking is the antidote to joyful living. Know thyself, trust thyself, and be thyself.

  • Steve, I agree with you, everyone has a dormant genius within. Not everyone is going to get it out onto the surface. That is very sad though but that's the way...some people lack in strong will and ardent desire ( fear is the main obstacle ) to show what God has encoded in them off. They probably will bury their talents so deep that no one could excavate them. Steve, I would appreciate if you take the time and elaborate on will power in your subsequent vids. Thanks!

  • @mmyylleenn Will power causes more harm than good. It erodes self-confidence and depends on coercion and force. It's the ego/mind trying to make the spirit subservient. Better alternative is intuitive living and allowing your higher self to take the reins of your life. My other videos go into further detail regarding this.

  • But this feeling that we need to become SOMEthing - and the evidence that you HAVE is based on the approval of people and the world you live in - is a huge burden to many people.

So, there is the question: Is the *truth* that you need to make "something" of your life? Or is the *truth* simply that you can just BE (e.g., sitting on a park bench) and your life is just as worthwhile in an absolute sense? For many people, to have faith in the latter, it would seem, indeed requires a "leap of faith".

  • @JakeLeg Absolutely, there is this deep seated belief we have to become something which originates from the ego. If I could some it up in one sentence: "Follow your inner-compass." It will lead us to our path in life. For some it could be sitting on park benches. For others it could be acting for the love of the craft without the need to 'make it in Hollywood'.

  • There's still an implicit message in this video that we're all supposed to DO something, something meaningful. Be a "success" of some kind, albeit by marching to your own tune. This is what especially tortures a lot of people, especially the young'uns.

Look at Eckhart Tolle. Just sat on a park bench everyday. But ultimately he *became* something, something huge in fact. Look at you, Steve. You have become something quite phenomenal - and that is truly great. (see next)

  • Great message, Steve...GREAT message! <3

  • Man, you give me happy feeling :D Idk why...

  • If you are 12 years old and you get disapproval from your parents it can cause lifelong scars. Few people ever overcome these childhood experiences due to having stupid parents.

Children need to learn to say to their parents and teachers, "Fuck you bitch" and get on with their God given life and fulfill their potential .

  • @DouglasUrantia I prefer, "Love them for they know not what they are doing" and go about living life on my terms. Negative energy only begets hostility.

  • @vagabondsteve ...Your comment is the wise council of a mature adult. A child sees reality in stark black and white contrasts and often needs to deal with negativity in a direct and emotional manner. Children are not aware of the sophisticated complexities of the adult environment. When they get grown up they can be wise. Meanwhile their immediate needs can be met.

    Excellent vlog as always...!

  • @DouglasUrantia I think children are wise enough to know that everyone has opinions. Just because they come out of the mouths of parents and teachers doesn't mean they're correct. With the proper support a child can learn to think for themselves without needing to tell the adult "f-u-b". Anger only burns the hands of those who hold it.

  • @vagabondsteve ...The use of swear words are inappropriate for adults or children but not always,IMO. Usually children do not have the 'proper support' you mention. Children are often the victims of adult immaturity and need a way to protect themselves. I wish that I had learned how to 'use language' to protect myself when I was a child,... it would have made me a better and more self-protected person. I had no "proper support" as a child. Did you? My childhood was a type of hell.

  • @DouglasUrantia My support was my family to degree and I sought truth for myself at a young age. I learned early on to have a healthy skepticism for everything. Thank you for your insights Douglas.

  • @DouglasUrantia .....Children are not "wise enough to know that everyone has opinions". You only learn that as you grow and mature into an adult. In my study of child psychology, one learns that children see the world in black and white. There are no shades of gray. As we mature we begin to see that there are subtle shades to what adult say and their actions. [That's why spanking a child is very dangerous to their mental health.]

  • @DouglasUrantia ...continued: I can now, to a degree, see where you are coming from in your vlogs. Your idea that children would fare well if they had proper support is great if that were a fact. They don't. Children usually have no one to turn to for support. Did you have proper support as a child? Your vlogs seem to say that you didn't. I could be wrong though as your vlogs are devoid of self revelation. Always in good cheer...!!

  • Your other video LIFE SUCKS is much more realistic.

  • @lennyd77 How so? Don't you believe you control your own destiny? Self-empowerment is frustrating for those who want to believe things outside themselves is the reason they suffer. Victim mentality creates slaves.

  • @vagabondsteve In many cases it is things outside ourselves that cause people to suffer. Right now as we speak America is turning into a dictatorship/police state, people's freedoms are being taken away left and right. America as we know it is falling fast, ripping apart the constitution in the process These are very real things that effect people's lives. It's great to be self empowered just don't be ignorant thinking that their aren't evil forces deliberately trying to break you down.

  • @lennyd77 What's the solution?

  • It's impossible to soar like an eagle if you're flocking with the seagulls.

vagabondsteve, Have you discovered SageBodisattva's channel yet?

    Your words are wise.

I like to play free flowing piano... This sort of reminds me of your great words here.

  • @batfly I'll check it out.

  • So dont care what others think. Okay, okay.

But not everyone right? The opinions of close friends, teachers, or heroes should still have some weight.

For example you, if I didn't care about your opinion, then why would I even care to watch the videos?

It's important to consciously choose whose opinions are important and whose aren't. I haven't been doing that lately. It makes perfect sense but im not sure why I haven't. Oh well, now I know.

  • @tostrong4you Thank you for pointing this out. It's not a black or white issue. Some opinions can be of great benefit. Discernment is the key.

  • If all the answers are within, which I do believe, why can't I find them?

    Thanks Steve,

    Tim

  • @chessdude67 How have you been looking for them?

  • Thank you, Steve. Man, I'm trying but it's hard! Hard to find what I truly want to do with my life! How about a video on people like myself who are stuck, but have the chance to go back to school, or try to start my own business? I over think everything! So, I'm in the same place I was two years ago still thinking! What a waste of time......my life.

    Tim

  • @chessdude67 Practice intuitive living on the small things. Check out my other video "Inner Compass".

  • @vagabondsteve Thanks Steve, we watched it last night. You were talking to me on that 100%! Thank you for your help. I'm going through some of your older videos. Excellent.

    Tim

  • What your saying, Steve, resonates with me too. Thanks for saying it.

  • Thank god i accidentally found you on youtube ! keep the videos coming :)

  • Just what I needed. Do you time all your videos just for my need? :P I even saw Patch Adams yesterday! Great video.

    - All we need is already within. Man you should write a book

  • @TheJuliusJT Thank you for your support and suggestion.
