question: any added benefit than regulars? also, always start every rep from a dead position? i thought i could handle a lot less weight on these, but it was about the same as regular db presses.
It's just hitting the muscles from a different angle, one way is not necessarily better or worse than the other. I stick to regular db presses 90% of the time, but I'll add in Arnold presses every now and then for variety.
i dont like how it's very up-down in this individual's technique, i prefer and as far as i have seen, should be a more circular-motion upwards as well as not extending the arm at full length towards the top because that relieves the strain on the shoulder setting it on the joints instead of muscle.
I love this excersise. I find when I do normal dumbell press, my one shoulder hurts on the negatives. With this, it doesn't bother me at all. Also seems to give you a greater ROM.
it looks safe, as the shoulders transfers the stress on the biceps, but without making it easier as you have to lift from the bottom again, I'm only worry about the strain on the elbows on the rotation, focus must be the key...
the rotation causes the various anterior and posterior heads of the shoulder(deltiod) to come into play, if done properly, this excercise is a wonderful mass builder. Im a rather large competitive bodybuilder, and take it from me, get the form down. or you will get hurt sooner or later
@BlinkBoyBrad I got hurt 2 months ago, 2 inch tear in the area where the side deltoid meets the bicep. Doctor said it was the action of twisting the wrists and too heavy weight, I think I should have stayed with the hammer strength machines....
Damnit. I started watching this video and was thinking the same thing, so I scrolled down to post it and you already did. Oh well. Atleast I'm not the only one who thought Steve-O right off the top of my head, haha.
I've been doing the Arnold press without realising it, I've stopped doing it for a while because I thought that it might hurt my wrist. my shoulders seems to get smaller after stopping it
I don't understand what the rotation adds to the movement. It seems that this would mostly work the muscles that rotate the forearm like the brachioradialis.
It's obvious that this is a powerful exercise for hitting the front and middle deltoids. Pretty cool quick video Lee. The new camera's quality is top notch for what you do. So do the guys at the gym ever ask to workout with you?

i think its different from person to person but rotation tends to place more emphasis on my shoulders.
