  • Man cant ppl just shut up... If you dont like this just dont watch it.

Me I think your great, you break down a lot of ritmes and im enjoying playing them.Keep up the good work mate, you make me enjoy the Djembe

  • Thank you for posting this. :-)

  • Videos are great ! Youre a good teacher...Tks dude! I'm a beginner...is there an easier way to learn to count the beats ex: 4/4 rhythm? I get mixed up and lose count.. would really appreciate it

  • Videos are great ! Youre a good teacher...Tks dude!

  • @initbludz mm no actually it's "what a bad video, dude begin studying, you have no idea about how to play a djembe. Good luck!"

    Anyway I like the videos.

  • Alexenderia,

Perhaps you should pay attention and not make stupid comments. He's not teaching you how to play the Djembe like an African, he's teaching you how to play a hand drum which just so happens to be with a Djembe. Do you see the title that says "demonstrating the common drumset 4/4 ON the djembe?" Yeah, it's called paying attention to detail.

  • @shanecormier Before you go around calling comments "stupid," you should take a good look at yourself. He's not teaching you how to play the djembe like an African? Well, seeing how Africans made the instrument, you'd think that they'd know all the possible ways to play it. He's putting up videos teaching incorrect technique, false rhythmns and calling in djembe playing. How would someone who is Scottish like it if I put up a video of my break dancing and calling in Scottish Highland dancing?

  • @Hayakanashi i would think an instrument and how it is used in music will evolve, just as music itself does. the cajon became a new instrument when the snarewire was added, giving it more possibilities to blend with today's music. look at some fingerstyle guitarists today, using so much harmonics and making it their niche, something that was never possible w/o the technology today. sticking to roots is good, but being obtuse is not. it's music, not engineering. come on!

  • I have most of your lessons now and use them more than Djembe dvd's I've bought.

I know it's not about African style, and erm, thats why I dig it so much.

Really cool style , heartfelt thanks :)

Now I just have to practice more..

    cheers

  • thank you for your video, it is very helpful

  • I help lead small group worship with a djembe, thanx for your videos man

I really appreciate them. You've helped get a good foundation

  • i think u should learn more on tone and hand technique before give your ''lesson'' on us...this is because the original technique from african is not like that your taught...by the way good job to give us a lesson but you should improve yourself first

  • @alexenderia

i appreciate your input but you should know that i never said these lessons were for traditonal djembe. these videos are meant for cell / small group worship ie adaptation of the drumkit for the djembe.

  • Thanks! cool Demo, I so need the tips lol bc Im not so good! Im better on a standard set of drums! love your voice, where are you from?

  • i rope and tune hand drums and yes you can retune them quite a few time every time you do you stretch the skin eventually it will break or rip but there are oils and cream natural are usually better to keep the elasticity

  • Great job :) Thanks for the beginner lesson.

  • um, does anybody know if it's possible to tune a rope-tuned djembe more than once? I can't figure it out

  • Do you mean adding another row?

  • ya...but I have it figured out now

  • maybe remove the horizontal row completely, then tighten the vertical ropes as well as possible, then put the diamonds back?

  • ha. i see. thanks for the help :)

  • thanks pple (esp hughman), you've been very encouraging.

however, julioparedes, i don't get what you're saying...even after looking up the spanish english dictionary...

  • hey, your vids really help a whole lot. thanks very much

  • your djembe sounds so good!!!
