thank you...I love canon but pricey...as you might know...I might make a move to the cheaper Sony alpha and will do a comparison soon too....thanks again
Believe it or not, the Sony cameras are cheaper, they have steady shot integrated with the bodies so you can use any lens and have steady shot with all of them, then you can use older A body lenses from the older minolta cameras and will work. In the end, sony is a good way to get a quality camera with a lower price...but then again...they are not considered pro cameras more prosumer cameras at best...which I am anyways
hmm interesting. Yea the built in shake reduction is a real plus. So do the sony slrs compete with canon rebel series or the 10 20 30 40 and 50D family of cameras?
lol...they only compete with the rebel series...as far as going into the pro 5d, 1d mark, or higher...no way...but I think they are much better than the rebel series...keep in mind it depends also on the features you want for your camera.
Dude, there is no comparison, the 30D and the d3000 are completely different cameras...the 30D is a photo only camera with excelent response and quality that is only matched by another Canon.
The d3000 is not only a great photo camera but also a video camera with audio input and dual memory slots, it is a multipurpose camera with a high definition quality and great picture quality both on the 12mp camera sensor to the 720p video mode....
If to choose I say go for the d3000 or look into other canon models that offer the same but I think better quality since the 30D is kinda old now...but still keeps up with other new cameras in regards to the quality
yea i guss it would be a good idea to just wait, because the 50d is not a very big difference between the 40d. so if i were you, actually, i would wait and get the "60d" if that ever comes out.
I am getting a 40d soon, I like my camera so much that I have to get another one, I am also getting a 100-200 f4 L lens, a friend says he can get it for me for 400...if he gets more than one I will post it up for anyone that wants one too.
Yep, I've just done the same as you, upgraded from a 350D (XT) to a 30D with the main upgrade feature being a bigger body for my bigger hands. Although it will cost me about £50 to do the upgrade (which I am still happy with)
Sorry, forgot to mention, the 1D Mark is only 4MP, it is not to be compared to the newer cameras, I was just showing that looking around can get you a decent camera...If you want to save some money and still get a good camera....get a 20D....spend a little more and get a 30D, want to spend quite a bit just for the body...40D for around $800....keep looking and you will see
Dude how's the performance? i'm comin from the XS and im itching for an upgrade. And where the hell did you buy it for $500? Man you gotta spill the beans now please :)
XTi gives better photographs than 30d

@briggs9187
D3000 does not have video, you're thinking of the pricier D5000. The D3000 is basically the D60 modernised, it doesn't have live view either.
The D5000 is more an upgrade of the D80

thank you very much. your video helped a lot. I have a suggestion for you, instead of getting a 40d next, get the 50d.

The only thing that stops me is the money....too expensive right now and I have too many toys to have it all...
