The problem is that Americans who identify as Christian assume they represent the ideal. These Christian Americans cannot conceive of this country as a community that functions with infinite variety bound by a universal and equal rule of law. They insist on restoration as fervently as when their god allegedly drowned the world. But what is so different from then and now?

Using the word nigger when talking about the word itself is completely acceptable, calling someone a nigger either outright or in code (which is the point Bill was making) is not. Yes, Obama is Mulatto but nobody describes him that way. Try telling the people who constantly attack him not based on politics, but on his race that he's half-white.
