hey guys, love the demo. thinking about picking one of these up, love the gorgeous effect on soft passages... just wondering if it can give me something in the ballpark of the swooshy-phasey effect at the end of "dani california" by RHCP.
i run a Gretsch G5120 through a dickload of effetcs into a JTM45...
I think you need a good phaser placed after a distortion box for that sound. Univibe is also a phase-shifting pedal but it sounds quite different than a standard phaser.
The MJM sixties vibe is a 1:1 clone of the old UniVox univibes that hendrix, SRV and GIlmour used. SImilar to this but it has that autentic sound that this one doesnt have.
You know, they all have pretty much the exact same circuit. I've seen the insides and the schematics.....The only I've seen that does the circuit better, would be the Tube Vibe.
it's only worth $265 if you think it's worth it. in the end, you're the only one who can decide if you like it enough to spend that much money on it. in my opinion, it is worth every penny.
fulltone is better than the others definately. but if you willing to shell out that money take a look at:MJM sixties vibe,Sweetsound Mojo vibe, Prescription electronics vibe unit, or the best (if your willing to wait 6 months) Kr mega vibe. but of those 3 fulltone for sure.
I didnlt see the chain of Jimis pedals listed correctly, if you look at any picture it goes marshall stack, uni-vibe, fuzz, octavio, wah, strat the vibe sounds best closest to the amp, and the octa which ever one you wanna use sounds best after the fuzz of your choice. always end with the wah
I have this pedal as well and really enjoy it. Here is my pedalboard setup. I used this alignment after contacting Fulltone and asking their opinion on ordering the signal chain. It goes STRAT>WAH>MINI DEJA VIBE>ULTIMATE OCTAVE FUZZ>ODC overdrive>OCD overdrive>CHORAL-FLANGE>FATBOOAST>AMP. I am looking for a good delay but this signal chain sounds great and I think I get the most out of every pedal this way.
i have this pedal and i really like it.i'm gonna try running it before the OCD see what it sounds like after reading some of the other comments..i have it after the over drive..and my flanger, chorus, and delay running thru the FX loop
The same way you would power any other 9volt pedals. It uses a standard Boss type adapter that converts 9 to 18 volts inside the pedal. If you dont have a Pedal Power or similar, you would need a step down transformer to plug in a 110v wall wart.
Check out Furman Sound's AC Voltage Regulators. These machines deliver the American standard 120 volts of power to essentially anything that runs on AC power - not just guitar gear. And if you plug the Furman into a non-120 volt outlet, it will still work properly.
I have this pedal from one year, and is the one i prefer in my pedalboard (i have 8 boutique pedals), I also tried other vibe pedals but for me this is the better choice to obtain that trower or hendrix sound, try it with a bit of overdrive or distortion and it sounds a lot better.
depends. Hendrix placed his uni-v after his Fuzz face.
personally, i would say put it before any overdrives. so that excludes putting it in the effects loop of an amp, sinc it places effects in between the preamp gain and the poweramp gain.
Hendrix used Wah > Vibe > Fuzz > Oct > Amp from what Billy Cox knows. There's word that he chained fuzzfaces, and his set of amps had different tones for each one. I can view at least 4 fuzzes at the isle of wight concert. But his setup was almost always inconsistent, he was always experimenting, his songs and sound varied show by show. In my opinion, everybody should try to create their own sound, experiment and fuss about with effects. That's what jimi would encourage us to do.
Priole2000 is a absolutely correct. You guys need to listen to him. I personally prefer t he Deja Vibe. Listen to the demo on Fulltones website, then listen to Jimi Hendrix Live At the Fillmore East "Machine Gun". The Deja Vibe captures that sound perfectly....
I have the big deja vibe pedal and there's one problem I have with it: the pedal part itself. It's a nice idea to change the amount of cycles per second by pressing on the pedal instead of turning a knob, so that you don't have to stop playing. But in practice, your foot has to be so accurate that at times I actually have to use my hands to get that exact amount right, especially if I take it up to the higher speeds. At higher speeds milliliters make the difference between 4 and 8 cycles.
even though pgs doesn't carry the rotosphere, i wish they would put it in stock and make a vid on it.. deja vibe sounds great but is nowhere near the rotosphere when talking about leslie simulation
they're different effects entirely. the univibe was originally intended as a leslie simulator but players like hendrix and gilmour made it something totally different.
Very good demo but they missed it on one thing; if you run the intensity very low and the rate low, you get this subtle shimmer that really adds to certain ideas. I had the Deja 2 and loved it in this very light setting on arpegiated parts and when playing double stop ideas.
First off, forget what everyone else says. Truth is, there are several really good ones, the Mini Deja included. It all comes down to personal taste. I'd suggest buying a couple difference ones if you can afford it, do a side by side comparison, and keep the winner.
Forget about what's most popular out there in forums...that's just leaves blowing in the wind.
Rule #1...forget what everyone else is saying. Just a bunch of leaves blowing in the wind. What you need to do is demo two or three of them on your own if you can afford to and do your own comparison. Your own personal tastes coupled with your guitar and amp combo will make all the difference.
Really, this advice goes for just about any pedal on the market. There is no 'best', only what you personally prefer.
Yep, I have had 18 different choruses. Fortunately they are not as expensive as vibe pedals. For Vibes I've only had the Chicken Salad, the Cool Cat and a couple of Micro Vibes. I am not interested in the vibrato sound so the Micro is cool but this thing is a totally different animal - different league (price to)
i thought the micro sucked compared to the chicken salad. the micro had a weak phase tone and sort of a wierd sweep. the chicken salad is surprisingly more "vibe"rant.
Agreed, this Deja Vibe Vibe needs a little work before it can nail the "vibe" of the Chicken Salad. The Deja Vibe is much more versatile, but the real soul is there with the Chicken Salad IF you do the trim pot and foil mods.
I own both a Mojo and Deja. The biggest difference between the two is the fullness of tone. The Mojo is brighter and will likely cut thru the mix better, but to me it's a bit thin. However, the Deja is very full but it's "darker" than I would prefer. The Vibe function on both is excellent.
the deja vibe sounds heavier and thicker with more distortion, clean it still sounds good, but with distortion it really gets thick. i plan on getting one of these soon, all i have is a shitty ehx clone theory that doesnt even come close (its not even the same effect). but these things are the real deal, in my opinion.
From what I've seen, the general consensus is that the Mojovibe is better, but Bob Sweet has health issues and Mojovibe production is low, if not non-existent. Usually a couple on ebay, but they are really expensive. You might also want to check out the Megavibe by KR, the Ubervibe by Retroman, and the Aquavibe by Foxrox. I feel I'm forgetting some good ones. Just read some forums.
However, the Dejavibe is still a fine pedal. Considering pricing and availability of others, it is a good choice.
For all intents and purposes, the Megavibe, Aquavibe, Mojovibe, and Mini Deja are all the same with only very minor variations. Gear snobs tend to exaggerate EVERYTHING.
I think that I would rather have kids still appreciate good timeless music, like the Floyd and Zep, whether or not they "have the tshirt." Great review as always!
What most people your age don't realize is that listening to Pink Floyd doesn't make you old school at all since every kid in america has a DSOTM shirt.
Hahaha! Couldn't agree more, and I'm 17! And don't forget Hendrix, Zeppelin, and AC/DC shirts... Hahaha

The Fulltone by FAR the best, its an exact copy of the original using photo cells and a lamp, the others are not clones like the Fulltone.
