Let's rebuild a couple of sets like these - a 4 RES and a 4 COR, and run them on the Southern again. I hear that some are trying to rebuild the Brighton Belle. Why not the "Nelsons"?
@nigelthebriton54 - 3142 is being restored but money is the main draw back for its completion. Also being of wooden body construction means that they would be unlikely to run on Network Rail in the future. The BB is steel construction.
I used to travel on these trains a lot in the late 1950's They were unfortunately somewhat under-powered for the challenging route between Guildford and Havant and really struggled up the incline south out of Guildford. I also recall the sideboards attached to all the coaches showing the main stopping points. I think a short set of them has been preserved.

Great to see how the 4COR motor coach was made. Lovely old trains. I remember traveling between London and Portsmouth during the 60s in these.

Fascinating video, and well up to your usual standard.
Amazing that they lasted until 1972! That's up to steam locomotive standards of longevity.

How interesting to see this being made and to have a film camera in 1936/1937 must have cost a bit of money.
