Oh man that sucks lol you were doing so good. Though its wierd because my hack doesn't make you mockball during the hell's run and the room where you can get life halfway isn't hot like the rest of the run. I wonder why.
Sounds like you have the normal mode version of the rom, instead of the hard mode version they also released. I believe in the normal mode version it's possible to have 2 extra e-tanks by this point in the game as well.
Basically the hard mode version forces you to do some of the better known glitches and tricks to pass most areas, less room for error, etc etc.
It's incredibly hard to beat the first time, especially if you don't use any of the maps available. I had to use save states about every 2 minutes to replay parts where I died, and it took me about 18 hours to complete it with 98% of the items found.
If you are playing the normal version there is only one e-tank available at this point in a game, and it is located shortly before the elevator to go into the upper norfair section that contains the hell's run segment.
honestly I can't remember as it's been a long time since I've played the game.
I would recommend going to the metroid2002 forums, hacks and fan games section, cliffhanger thread...
It's over 60 pages long at this point in time, but the guy who made the hack posted full maps of both the easy and normal versions somewhere in that thread.
This is Cliffhanger Hard Version. If you wanted to get more health on your way out, you could've shot the parasite nest at 1:55, and when the thing's blown out, grab the health and get through the platforms. But I guess you made it.
Yeah, shooting the parasite nest usually got me killed. You just have to do the run flawlessly but it's possible to get out with around 20 health without getting powered back up there.
However, there was no hacking involved in this run, other then using a save state right before this segment. Had i used slow down i wouldn't of botched that last jump. ;-)
A nice run, all the same.

Ah, I see now. Thanks man. It's a pretty fun hack, though I'm still working on beating it lol. Maybe I'll give this version a try.

Er, forgot the order...
You need to find the ice beam to get back out of the area you are currently in, then head back to the ship and explore a bit.

what do i have to do after I got the Speed Booster???
Cupi7 3 years ago
You need to find the grappling hook...
I would recommend exploring the room where your ship is for a place to use the speed booster. ;-)

Depends on what you mean by hack.
Cliffhanger is a custom hack game by DMantra.
However, there was no hacking involved in this run, other then using a save state right before this segment. Had i used slow down i wouldn't of botched that last jump. ;-)
