I'm a bit curious - is Geoff operatically trained? I can't imagine him hitting those notes otherwise, although he's got to at least be trained to get that kind of range!
You have 2 wonder if rob halford is the metal god then what does that make geoff tate his voice is every bit as powerful as robs if not then damn its awfull fucking close. Both men r supreme vocalists i cant pick ! STAY METAL!!
Queensryche when it ruled the world. What happened? How did this once-awesome metal machine turn so crappy? I was SUCH a huge fan in the '80s/early '90s. I am truly saddened by what has happened to what could have become an institution, but has instead become an embarrassment. But those first five or so records? Priceless.
Queensryche were promotors of this style .... Progresiv Hard Rock ... if I may say so.
1984 ....... GEOFF TATE, vocals; CHRIS DE GARMO & MICHAEL WILTON, gtrs; EDDIE JACKSON, bass; SCOTT ROCKENFIELD, drums ,,,,, The Best Band Forever......
All The Best YouTube & ogytheoldmetal, so that we can re-live those moments ....
From the NW so been all over these gusy nearly fromtheir inception. appreciate them more now that I'm older and the NEw World Order has taken over. Intelligent and talented, most under rated band ever!
I don't expect him to hit the same high notes as he used to. But he still has his range back since he stopped smoking. I was surprised to hear how well he sounded when he sang "Eyes of a Stranger".
@LastSunrise1981 THAT'S what caused it??? Well, hell, that 'ad been a no-brainer for someone in his position, given the massive difference it made in his case. Lots of good singers have been smokers, but if it's messin' up your game, it's time to give up one or the other. I'm just glad he chose the music over the smokes in the end.
It was a combination of smoking and getting older as well. But the smoking definitely killed his range during the later part of his career, very glad he gave up the cigarettes.
Wait I thought he quit smoking back in the 80's, hm ok?????

@samboy1288 Good guess on your part. Tate was trained in opera from a young age, living in Germany before moving to the Pacific Northwest.
