  • My grandparents had that same microwave, It looked so cool. Hopefully I'll find one.

  • wow - 41 yrs old ! Its looks so much nicer than todays microwaves

  • Nice micro-wave, and the ground lug is normally on top, escecially in commercial applications where a metal face plate is used, reason is, if that metal face plate ever slides off, it will drop onto the plug, and in some cases it can be loosely plugged, and can touch the hot and neutral plugs, to prevent the short, they put the ground intop so it doesnt short out and trip a breaker, or even worse. The plugs can touch the metal face plate causing a dead short.

  • @SpeakerFreak95

Thank you for the info about why the ground should be on top. Ive seen metal plates pop off and short on someone laptop plug in college. I allways install outlets ground side up and most the time people complane that I did it up-side-down.

  • @pamperchu It is against code to install a receplacle ground-downward with a metel wall plate.

  • That is one SWEET microwave!! Excellent find, and great job bringing it back!!

  • Seems like a real "longlife" device! Keep it!

  • Nice, I like to see people reviewing old stuff

  • lol this thing is like 39 years old

  • So, if a press the button and hit start it will just start working?

  • Does it glow in the dark :-)

  • Radar Range. The Astronauts from Apollo 11 returned from the Moon and were picked up by the USS Hornet. They were put in a specially sealed Airstream trailer inside the hangar deck for a 3 week quarrantine in case there were Lunar microbes. The trailer was equipped with this same type of Amana Radarange for the Astronauts to use. Ours was in our motorhome during a 9000 mile road test across the USA in 1969. It performed flawlessly and ran until 2003.

  • Hold down both safety switches and turn it on with the door open :D fun things happen

  • If your still using this they use to make all plastic turntables to go in them that you just turned to wind up. My grandma had one of these till about 2002 when the transformer died in it(smoke).

  • Came across your video here on the Radarange.Did it take 2 people to pick it up???LOL>I just wanted to also say,,,I also have one of the "first" Radarange's,,mine is a model RR-1,,with a super early serial number acording to Amana's office. I found my oven on a roadside junk pickup in louisville about 10 years ago.It is in remarkable shape,,and still sports the original power cord. It still works fine,,which is a testament to thier engineering back then. I think it retailed for 795.00 in 1967.

  • @singlejeff69

I managed to lift it myself. I would love to see a picture of your RR-1.

  • And, of course, the reason why it's called the Radarange, it's a range that uses radar (radio waves) to cook food.

  • Nice video. I live in Denmark. I have exactly the same microwave, and I use it every day. 15 years ago broke the same spring in mine, I repaired it and it has worked fine since. It is a durable machine, take good care of it ..

  • This was the one my family had, from the early 70's until 1991 or so when it just crapped out. The big metal door made a 'Zhwaaaaaangggg' noise when you shut it, just like that old show 'A Current Affair.' This thing is big enough that you could probably 'fix' it by just putting a whole other small microwave inside. :)

  • i like the microwave :) if it dies i would replace it with modern stuff u get out of another microwave, and hope it fits :D

  • i'm impressed! 5 stars!

  • that is a very cool microwave too bad they don't makem like that today

  • Well done, thats quite a bit of kit, things were made so much better 20-30 or more years ago, shame modern shite is built to break after a set amount of time,Hoover came up with the idea of building appliances with manufactured in lifespans that could not be repaired, this idea then got applied to everything

  • I remember those microwaves. You are very handy with electronics and know -how on fixing them. Thx for showing us your skills.

  • really cool microwave, love its chrome vintage design. great videos you have, keep it up!

  • oh that is so cool, it sounds like the air circulatory on an airplane. And the dial lights up, so awesome

  • Cool microwave; I love how the dial lights up =D And the chrome looks like it's in great shape, too

  • YAYCOOLHEAVYMICROWAVES!!!!!!
