DICE bought Trauma Studios, fired them, got hired by THQ, called KAOS Studios, then closed permanently. DICE should realize that if Trauma Studios did not make Desert Combat then there would be no Battlefield 2. Asswipes looking for only good graphics :(

Desert Combat, the coolest mod ever! Trauma totally nailed it. Since then, despite (or because of) the massive capital invested in popular games, there's been a loud sucking sound throughout the lands.... Who will be the next genius mod team? Please someone improve BF3! Enjoyed BF2, been playing BF3, but with both a lot is missing compared to DC. Any active DC servers? Which version of the mod do I need to play online?

Man I wish the guys that made DC (Trauma Studios) would get BF3 modded. Yes I know they where bought by Dice then some were fired after BF2,shit move by Dice. Then EA gets Dice and the game has got better in some ways while losing a lot of what made it fun to play.

Small maps,less vehicles does not make BF, it looks more like COD.

We had over 20 maps in BF1942 and could fly/drive/navigate so much.

Bring back the fun we used to have, otherwise BF is doomed.

OMFG i miss that air map with the hangers you had to bomb to win. That was the best game ever. I wish more console people understood that several of the best video games of all time were mods. If not for mods, no Counter-Strike, no BF2. The direction modern gaming is headed is terrible, especially because we wont see things like Desert Combat again.

It's been a few days since I've installed this, but if I remember correctly:

Install in this order:

Battlefield 1942

Battlefield 1942 patch 1.6 (1.6.19)

Battlefield 1942 incremental patch 1.61b

Then, depending which mod you want to play (of the main releases, there are several mods to the mods):

Desert Combat 0.7 (and/or) DC_Final (aka 0.8)

in order for desert combat to work you need 1942 version 1.6.9 installed and then you can get desert combat version 7 if you want version 8 its called desert combat final its the best

I used to love this game!! Man not to be cocky or anything but I was pretty damn good. I played under the tag Gunner25 sometimes with the *SAS* tag on it too. But man the car-15 and my lil chocolate c4 bars were my shit. This game was hours of fun! and boy do I miss it!

the helicopters in this game were awesome, took actually skill to fly and behaved like a real helicopter would. Had to adjust throttle to control it constantly. I remember when this MOD came out I learned to fly the apache first day and for months people would complain about them because they couldn't fly it. (you needed a joystick...most people still couldn't fly it with a joystick)

The only things that Are good in this mod are the Skins, Planes and Ground Troops/vehicles.

Helicopters are pretty fucked up because you almost cant restore your balance when you took a hit.

The Navy also is poorly made, The only things that look good from the navy are the Carrier and the assault boats.

They shouldve reskinned and mod the battleships to the Frigates we are using in this age.

The things they need to fix are:

- Helicopter handling

- Naval vessels

Yes, that's why it's good. All features in same package, not cut down in pieces for money making purposes, like BF2. Plus it has much better physics (can't walk on moving vehicles in BF2 for instance)
