  • @ylism in an earlier comment he said he didn't know the time for that run but his best time was 13.01 seconds. But he didn't say the miles per hour

  • Love the sound. Youtube is great. My 650R is in storage, but because of vids like this I can still enjoy it.

  • What did the Ninja 650 do in 1/4 mile, Time & speed ? no one ever says, Please do. Thank's, yl

  • Did he let off the throttle before he crossed the line?

  • Its good to see a nice conversation about engine sizes and configurations without getting into pissing matches

  • You Got LEFT!!!

  • ...the can the engine can spin to produce usable power. sure the kawi can probably spin to 13 maybe 14k if the engineers let it, but there would be no point since the power begins to dip after 9rpm and lower significantly after after 10krpm. now i'm not saying this is the only reason for this but engine design is a big part. the difference is also in the engine configuration and tuning obviously.

  • @carsnwomen91 Having owned both of those bikes I'd describe it as the 650R is fast, more power than anyone really NEEDS, and the CBR600RR is stupid fast lol. It pulls so much harder than all the other 600s (the 07-08 model).

  • @skyline44512 haha ill agree totally with you. i stil talk to my friends that say an r6 doesn't have that much power.

  • @skyline44512 09 model pulls pretty good too :)

  • the fact that the cbr's tiny 150cc cylinders have a large bore to stroke ratio compared to the 650r give the engine the possibility of turning faster which in turn give it much greater top end. torque should be similar to both engines. but the output would be different, kawi's max would be generated much lower (ex 5k rpm) and cbr @ 11k rpm. larger cyls and stroke in the 650r give it the ability to produce torque lower, but since each piston has to travel longer distance it limits the how fast...

  • The amount of cylinders and size wouldn't make a huge difference in this particular case. If that were the case the FZ6 with its 600cc I4 should have a much higher top end than the 650r, which it does not. (I think its only within a few mph).

  • 60-80 roll on ninja 650 beats cbr600rr.

Just about everything else the cbr will win

  • I wouldn`t worry about that. We all know racing in a straight line is just for fun, its in the corners is where it gets interesting. I track my bike regularly (same one you got) and I can keep up with the 600`s in the long straight no problem because I carry more speed through the corners and get on the gas sooner.

  • I have a video from riding this bike on a track day, too. I sold the ninja 650 to a friend of mine and now own an 06 Sprint ST and an 01 CBR600F4i.

  • Oh dude, those Sprints are friggin sick! How you like it? I`ve been thinking about getting one of those but I`d like to get a few more seasons out of this bike first before I get a new one.

  • I love it. The power is buttery smooth. It isn't as easy to toss around as the ninja, but it's sportier and lighter than most sport tourers. It's a great "every day" bike. One nice thing about Triumphs (around here, anyway) is that you can test drive them at the dealership.

  • Yeah the dealership here is cool with that too. I've always wanted to try one but they kind of want you to be serious in buying something at that point. Even if they didn't care, I'd feel bad for wasting their time if I wasn't serious.

I really like those bikes though.... I'm totally envious lol.

  • You're only carrying more speed through the corners because you're better than they are at riding. The brakes and suspension are nowhere near what you get on a race replica.

  • But thats my point, more than half the riders on sport bikes have no idea what they are doing. Every now and again it will blow up in my face and someone on a 600 will destroy me, but those few are the people that should be on sport bikes. 8/10 times I'll leave them standing.

Of course an actual sport bike has better stuff on it, it just matters who's on it.

  • Yeah, I do enjoy passing the brand new R6s and the occasional Ducati 1098 on my "old" CBR600F4 myself, heh.

  • Wait, I'm confused..why would a 600cc bike be faster than one that is 650cc? (Motorcycle noob here....)

  • the 650 is a detuned two cylinder. The 600 cbr is a performance tuned bike. In the low end the 650 destroys it, but it has no top end, so thats where the sport bikes win out.

  • The design of the engine... 600 cc supersports are 4 cylinders, and rev higher (up to around 16K RPM), while the 650R is a twin (2 cylinder) and doesn't rev as high, or produce as much torque in the higher revs. Since HP is proportional to the torque and engine speed, the 4-cyl. make more overall HP. Plus, they are tuned for top-end power.

  • it depends on more. That weak little 650r would pwn a 1000 cc harley. but the cc's are bigger? you see what i mean. How the engine is tuned, how the bike is built, and a bunch of other stuff create the performance and price difference between a CBR6 and a ninja650r.

  • weight and rider ability

  • power is determined by the size of an engine. For comparison purposes a ninja zx6r has a compression ratio of 13.3:1 with 49 ft lbs of torque and ~105 HP. Comparing this to the ninja 650R which has 48.5 ft lbs of torque, a 11.3:1 compression and ~70 HP. the big differences being a 30 horsepower drop, a 20 lb curb weight increase, and overall lack of supersort tuning for the 650R. I have a 650R myself and love it to death... 0-60 in 3.7 sec.

  • the 600 is an inline 4 cylinder and the 650 is an inline 2 cylinder

  • @TJAKEkid123

the 650 actually a parallel twin

  • same thing ha

  • @TJAKEkid123

the in line 2 has a 180 degree offset between the two pistons (one moves up as the other moves down). the parallel twin has a 360 degree offset ( both pistons moving identically).

  • so the parallel both fire at the same time or they are in the same position but different part of the stroke cycle? i'm lost

  • they fire off a single ignition system typically. but with these new fuel injected bikes i am not sure.

  • maybe of the horse power :)???

  • 650 has around 75 horsepower , its label is a sport-touring, the 600 on the otherhand has around 120 horsepower or so and is label a supersport, little different. CC is displacement, a 2000cc cruiser sounds big, but a 600 cc supersport would probably still destroy it :)

  • CC is no indicator of top speed.

The ninja 250cc can go faster than a lot of 600cc.

In this case it was the 650cc Sports Bike vs a 600cc Super Sports Bike.

They cant really be compared because one is built around being more public road tame.

  • your sort ov right

    i have a 650r and my dad has a zx6-r

i can keep with him until 95-100mph

    ive hit 132 via gps

    and my dads hit 157mph

the engines are totally different tuned

the zx-6r is way more agressive

and not being the 636, it is lower cc

but a supersports bike will always beat a sports, more theb happy with my bike though the torque and pwerband are more then enough for me

  • dont forget engine configuration, inline twin versus inline 4, and engine design (bore and stroke, type of piston, compression ratio, valve size and timing) size of throttle body and type of injection.

  • ok your well to tecnical for me my freind you know your stuuf matey haha

  • This is a great example of the brute force a well tuned twin will deliver even if it is just a well tuned factory twin, Kawasaki got it right with that "little" monster of a bike. I have been on my buddy's 650R and after a 97 Bandit 1200 wheelie monster, GSXR1000's, R1's and R6's, CBR's of all sorts, and alot of Ninja's from the 250 to the 500, I still feel the 650R is a fantastic performing bike! I've ridden alot of fast bikes, owned a few, and the 650R is still a potent contender to any 600 4.

  • For riding the street I'd rather have a 650R than my own 600F4...unless it was a really bumpy street.

  • You were in the lead! That dang in-line 4 caught up to you tho - great try!

  • What kinda muffler you got on that Ninja?

  • im curious to.. sounds like straight pipes

  • Hey , nice race !!!

    can you tell me how many secons from 0 km/h to 100 km/h ? ( kawasaki 650 Ninja )

    thank

  • Fast.

  • under 4 seconds. i think about 3 seconds. if i did my math right ;)

  • 0-60mph which is close to what youre asking, is about 3 seconds on the 650R stock. with a 180lb rider that is, and experience riding

  • Fellow 650R owner here :) The 650 will beat just about any 600 inline up to 50-60mph because of its low end torque. After that we just get smoked. Nice vid!

  • Well I'm not so sure about that I think if you REALLY know how to ride a 600 you should be able to stay with a 650 to 60 mph. But that takes perfect riding skill lol. I mean that's just according to my research and numbers I've read I could be wrong. Nice video looks like you stayed ahead till like 85mph? I'm thinking of getting an 09 650R(next year...).

  • What rpm are you launching at?

  • It's been a long time since I have ridden the 650. I want to say it was 8 or 9 thousand. I was slipping the clutch.

  • Good riding..You had that CBR till almost halftrack!

  • Awesome video. I've just gotten my license, and am greatly enjoying my 650R.

    Great bike!

  • THATS A STOCK PIPE?! Did you change it at all?? Seems a LOT louder!

  • great video is that stock or what? im thinking about a pc3 wiht a fmf on mine

  • The pipe is stock. I have lots of mods, but none that make the bike faster.

  • What was the time?

  • I don't know my time for that run, but my best 1/4 mile time has been 13.001. The magazines say it can do 12.0.

  • yeah i have 650r and my buddy has a zx6 and i have him on the start then he just tears me up!

  • hey I got tired of all the four cyclinder's putting us twins down I have a 650r and I am a mechanical designer/ inventor....well I didnt let that crap stand my 650r with my special custom stuff on it has beat the zx6 and the cbr 600 Ill post my video of the bike and if you guys have the guts to mod it like i did youll deffienlty be one happy sailor them small engines can rap up like no other...Id like to see more bikes out there like mine so if you have questions ask me

  • riiighttt, no vids, nothing. FULL of shit

  • hurry up and upload them then. Ws a month ago ou said you had vids. Was all excited about seeing the twin kick ass...

  • 4 months ago and you still have nothing. Seriously man....what kind of loser are you that you have to make up stories and lie on the net to feel good about yourself?

  • sorry mordeth13 after a long day and long youtube session my vision is failing me.

    meant to be thumbs up*

  • Hey do you even own a bike...

Is all about practice you learn moron.

  • Wow, I was suprised to see the EX650 draging. I have a stock one also and it really hauls off the line up to about 60 or 70, then it kind of levels out. Or maybe it is just me. Nice vid.

  • makinede tork var!

it has torque! i love this bike.

by the way, do you know about er-6f which is the name of this bike in Europe? is it just the name that differs?

  • Yes, it's very similar to the er-6f. The instrument cluster is different. In the US, the speedometer and tachometer gauges are both analog. ABS is not offered in the US. The US version has a strap across the pillion seat and does not have passenger grab bars. The er-6n is not available in the US. Check out the forums on ninja650 dot com and ninja650shop dot com to meet other er-6f owners.

  • oh thank you man.. i'm checking the sites. you're cool.

  • cool video. hey bro tel how u can upload videos longer than a minute because i get an error i cant upload them. for people to watch. only have 2 vids with less than 40 sec long.

  • Hey what exhaust are you running? Sounds like a phoenix but I could be mistaken. If you are beating some of the SS'es in the 1/8th that must mean the 650R's are making torque in all the right places. Nice run BTW.

  • Thanks. It's the stock exhaust.

  • Good try. You hung in there longer than I expected.
