Vote "NO" for health care law that increase cost and we become like Canada & UK where if you need health care you have to go to US. oops.. If this law is passed US care will be just like the Canada & UK.... Where will we go... where will the Canadians & UK go to get health care.
Also, the word "unalienable" means something that cannot be given or taken away. The men who formed our great nation went to great pains to express the idea that it is not the government that grants to us our rights. You should embrace their ideas...they are liberating and potent.
@mjt1517 Our forefathers did not foresee that we'd become a facist corporatacracy through collusion and greed either. Adams and Locke didn't ever dream we'd have Wall Street, making money off of money either. This is not the "free market enterprise" they talked about.
Health care IS NOT a Civil right when someone else is forced to pay for it.
There is no profit in government run health care??? yes there is and it is called POWER
The power a un named beaureaucrat will have over you and your family.
Social Security, war on Poverty,Medicade etc. I am tired of paying for Congressional screw ups. You can not tell me these members of congress a enlightened in any way. They do not even read the bills before they vote on them!!!!
No problem there, you can have all the healthcare you can pay for. I will not obligated to pay for your healthcare, when you grant a entitlement and someone else is forced to pay for it ... that is wrong!
you are paying for military and congressional health care benefits with your tax money, medicaid and medicare.
Redistribution of it all would be a reform to bring healthcare for every american instead of picking and choosing who gets these benefits. Get it now?
You, and others, are completely missing the point. The point is that you wouldn't be paying that money to a COMPANY. You are paying the government to do something for you. Why don't you just bad-mouth police, firefighters and libraries while you're at it? You see my point? Instead of paying someone who's out to make a profit, you're paying the government (most likely) the same amount, and they're not after a profit.
"we hold these rights to be self-evident, that all men are entitled to the right of LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness..."
Not to mention 18,000 Americans die yearly of preventable diseases because they had no insurance. 9/11 killed approx 3,000. And we declared war on two countries over that. Clearly we have fucked up prioties. I could easily go on.
@wolfenman08 - Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. This doesn't in any way mean the government owes its people free health care. It does mean the government shall not seek the termination of the People's lives for political reasons. That's all.
I do like Dennis K but I have to respectfully disagree. Basically because rights are something you're born with. They're not something you are given. So to say "the right to healthcare" meaning the right to have healthcare thats paid for by someone else .. meaning its given to you .. No that doesnt make any sense at all. In fact in underscores the fact that you weren't born with it. Healthcare is each indivuals RESPONSIBLITY just like paying your rent, buying groceries, paying for your car etc
And hey I'm all for helping others .. but on my own free will NOT BY FORCE. So Dennis with all due respect I'm more like Ron Paul I like to be consistent with the concept of LIBERTY and FREEDOM. To force someone to help someone else really isn't help. Just like if you stole 50 bucks from me and gave it to a homeless person. YEAH it will help him but it doesn't change the fact that you TOOK the money from me lol :-) COmon Dennis I know you're smart enought to know that! Ron Paul would agree w me
No, rights are NOT something you're born with. You DO NOT have the right to life until it's given to you. Nature doesn't give these rights. You have the right (with our constitution) to LIFE. You have to right to not have to die needlessly. And your point about it being a "responsibility" is just plain wrong. You can't help getting sick. It happens.
Actually, he's correct. Rights are something we're born with. Plus, think about it...if rights are something given by the government, they can just as easily be taken away. And a right is a right to action, like speaking, assembling, or bearing arms. Rights are not something that is handed over to me, such as food stamps or health care. And rights are not exercised by taking from one person and giving them to another..that's not a right, since it infringes on the liberty and property of another.
Unless you're religious (I'm not), then you can't say that we're born with rights. What rights are we born with? How many "rights" did our ancestors have that we don't have now, or vice-versa?
Well, abaddon, whether you're religious or not, if you're a citizen of the United States, you're part of a nation that believes we were born with rights. So it doesn't really matter if you believe this or not, that's how it is in the US. That is the philosophical stance our founders gave us, and if you're not willing to operate under those ideas, then you've completely missed the point of those exalted men and the nation they gave us.
You are born with CERTAIN rights, but they can be given or taken away. Before, we had the right to own slaves. Now we don't. Plus, you just went backwards on what you said before. The government gives us rights,
If you're born with them, they are unalienable. (In other words, no matter what the government says about them, they can' t take them away.) And I didn't go backwards. What I said they gave us was a philosophical stance. The rights are ours by birth. The philosophical stance is the framework of thought we rally around in order to discuss these ideas. What you're proposing enables tyrannical government to cut off your individual liberty. And that's something the founders wanted to prevent.
If you're born with rights, then that means that they were given. Does nature grant these rights? No. Rights are either given to us by some deity or by a government.
The founders declared these rights were given by Deity. "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that theyare endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights..." It really doesn't matter if you believe in a deity...you're living in a nation that was formed under this belief and is so written into its founding documents. That is the operating principle we were formed under, and that is the operating principle we continue under to this day.
@abaddon5 You're born with evolutionary roots of behavior that resemble morality in regard to how we treat each other because it's conducive to our survival. Healthcare, in a civilized system, should be a right, not predetermined by your wealth or some contrived notion of social class.
u right ORGANJIC,all this problems are caused by the tax imposed to all of u;if u stop paying tax on things such as home, transportation, heat and gas, educacion, medicine supplies.land and necesities like water gas light and fone u will save at least $200 a month.,and if u all pay $100 a month for a national health insurance for each family, all of u will be covered with out ,need of any private insurance insurance$100x$200M=$20,000,000,000X12=
I want to be TAXED like the FRENCH are for Health Care ..The French Never Ever Never protest TAXES for Their health Care ...People with BSBC still fly to France to get operated on WONDER WHY ? Open the Boarders for Better Doctors and Nurses and New better ways to treat people not Prolong DEATH like BCBS doesn and did to me Paying $7500@17yrs then I was dropped after I a operation I begged for 3 mo. I have documentation for congress & 3 More !
You couldn't afford comprehensive health insurance if you paid zero taxes. As it is, you probably don't pay any or much income tax. I know, I know, you're probably an internet millionaire- but you know that you aren't. You are going to end up on Medicare if you live long enough. It only makes sense to pay into that system all of your life, instead of paying premiums to private companies only to get dumped when you turn 65.
★★★★★ , Medicare and Medicaid ""are"" single payer health care programs , but denied to most Americans by age, they want you to die before your eligible for coverage.
Please, Write,Call, Blog, do something, anything to get HR 676 Passed.
Fuck this insanity! How can anything be a right when somebody else is suppose to pay for it?
I am not responsible for securing your so called rights, pay for your own, I have enough problems providing for my own family you lazy bastards!!
