  • It occured to me the phone output could somehow could be used as a modulator but never came accross this kind of distortion. I just tried it and made some riffs I'll use later. Thanks for showing this trick!

  • thank you ! how did you learn all this ? very good

  • Thanks for the great vids Marc. Good explanation too!

    greetings from Analog Amsterdam

  • @devmiles Thank you very much! Thanks for watching! Hello to Analog Amsterdam!

  • I would not pay anymore than I did ($1800 usd) but am very glad I have these in my setup. i would like an SQ10 but not gonna pay current market prices! use kenton midi instead - cheaper and more powerful the solo II is great with an ms20 if you need to sequence this guy.

  • what is the thing on top of the ms-20?

  • Rolls passive 4 channel mixer.

  • what are those modifications you have on your Ms-20? Got a video of them in action?

  • There are were no modifications on the MS-20 in this video! (well, apart from the horrible paint job!)

  • agreed! man that is awful :0

  • Anyone have any idea if you can buy these anymore?

  • they are available on Ebay. Quite expensive though. Glad I got mine before the prices shot through the roof. xD

  • @thrcman i got mine from Japan and the quality was LIKE NEW. I paid $1800 USD and use it every day, on every song, in different ways. effects, bass, leads. i then picked up the ms10 off of ebay from a guy in US for $500. you can patch the ms10 to the ms20 of course and make an expander of sorts. each person defines their own concept of value.

  • i'd be interested in a video about the MS-10, thanx so far

  • Excellent videos - very informative.

  • Thank you!

  • thanks alot, these videos are great. please post part 3 soon. Can't wait..

  • Oh man, this synth is so filthy thanks to the routing options. Just amazing.

  • you are the man.

  • Sorry to beg, but can you PLEASE post "patch panel pt 3" here or sonicstate? I'm dying to understand the ext signal procsr better! What's the diff between "ext sig in" atop the patch panel and "signal in" in 'ext sign procsr' at the bottom? Do they both take audio AND CV?

Wish the two oscillators could sync. Is there a way to do this using the patch panel? Don't hate me; I have the Legacy versions - love em since I can't buy the real thing. I've learned lots thanks to your excellent vids!

  • I thought I had posted that, I will post it very soon!

Both of the inputs are audio inputs. It is an audio in before the filters so you can use the filters to process sound. The filters already have their own CV inputs.

    You can't fake sync!

  • where can I find a keyboard like this? To me this is what a real Synth unit should look like! Wires, knobs switches,if it doesn't look slightly complex I have a hard time calling it a synth!

  • Start searching eBay weekly.

  • You'd be better off buying one of the new modular synths, MS20s go for ridiculous prices, they're just not worth it for the old bits of kit that they are, IMO

  • what would you recomend then?

  • The right choice seems to be a Doepfer mini system for those starting out. Incredibly powerful for the money and the components aren't 25 years old

  • I couldnt see any used ones on ebay.

Maybe im asking for the wrong thing. cause basicly what i want is something like the ms-20 or minimoog(i know, i know, nothing will replace the real thing).

I am a total novice, so that doepfer seems a little bit hardcore for my skills and needs for the moment.

  • that's a ridiculous comment. an ms-20 is an ms-20. if you want an ms-20 you get an ms-20. pricey yes... not worth it, you gotta be kidding me. you know what they went for new? lol@u and your experitise.

  • Easy tiger - I've seen MS20's going for 1500 quid lately (just under 2000 USD?) - if you pay that then you're harbouring romantic notions of the value of solid state technology. They're great units - but this is a synth we're talking about, not a violin. They dont improve with age. If you think its worth that money then its your opinion - but thats all it is. As for my expertise, I guarantee I've been playing synths longer than you've been on solid food.

  • i highly doubt it. perhaps thats your problem, you run around making assumptions all the time?

  • Haha - no, it isnt.

  • @fishybishbash what would you recommend instead? im in the market for a synth. possibly for a rock band, or just for me recording for my own music. Id like something that is cool like the ms-20, or funky like the minimoog, but i dont really know synths, so i mention those only because those are the popular ones. Any hints?

  • @lolcat23 A friend got hold of an Access Indigo recently and I have to say I was impressed - saw one tday on ebay for 550 - you'd pay nearly double that for an MS20

  • @fishybishbash did you buy it too? :P i cant find one, but i found some info about it. and it does indeed look interesting. so thank you for the tip! :)

  • The programming gig I'm doing at the moment we're using 2 MS20's, an MS10 and an SQ10. They're nice. But there's no way I'd pay 7000 USD plus for that setup, which is about what people would ask.

  • ups, this was ment as a reply to anothe commenter, not you.:)

  • I would never think this tutorial would help me but since I got the vsti thing of this baby... ;)

  • thats cool, are you going to be showing the duophonic trick soon ;)

  • no rush, but when can we expect a part 3? im gonna fix my ms-20 tomorrow and plan on learning all about it by watching your videos! great stuff dude

  • great movie!!!

  • AWESOME

  • Perhaps they thought that since the headphone output functioned as an oscillator output an oscillator output wasn't necessary. Still weird though.

  • Pwange !!! Love the MS-20

  • What is the song at the beginning? It sounds great

  • yeah

if these are you own songs on your videos automaticgainsay

i'd love to get my grubby little hands on some mp3's :)
