This would have been the talk of the day at work here at the airport if we would have heard about it. The military before sending anything into the airspace close to the Kabul airport is to inform the tower and we tell them if it is clear or not!!

Close ... very close. Could have caused a terrible aircrash. The drone is´nt so big, but a direkt hit in the wings or engines ... donßt think that much of the passengers woukd have survived. And zhe airport rescusteames + hospitals in Kabul .. don´t think the are so well equiped

Thesupahfly: At the time I posted it I didn't know if it was authentic or the details. Since then it has been proven to be authentic. Some details in the video description. Youtubers and other people on the Internet have helped identify the mishap/close call. The location and type of aircraft, ect... It is not a hoax or terrorism.

Yes, the USAF have one. its called the "Predator". Nice name but its a UCAV (Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle), not a UAV.

The predator doesn't really operate at treetop level. The only UAVs that I am aware of are not capable of both treetop level flight and attacks. There are some designed for each role, but to the best of my knowledge there are none yet that are capable of both. However you never know, there could be some new secret program that meets all the criteria that he listed.

Well, there are many UAVs. Wiki it, and you'll see. Most of them can fly at treetop level, but there don't like to as its meant to be recon, so they fly high to avoid being seen.

Same goes to the Attack versions. high means safer. And their weapondary systems can go very far at high speed too.

I already have. Before I couldn't do it because we did not know it was a German Army Luna UAV and a Ariana Afghan Airlines Airbus A300B4. I have been asking people for several years about this incident and it wasn't till recently that I started to get some good clues, however no one seemed to know the whole story. That's why I posted the information on the video description.

it is the typical luna pilot sight and i heard about at least one nearly crash luna vs civil airplane in afgh from some guys who should really know

(i wont give you facts, classified stuff and i only heard it by these guys, they did service at recce artillery with luna)

they usually had to do some recce flights around the airport, so they were often near to some civil planes, lunas max ceiling is 4000m, but you aint use it often cause of the image quality, just imagine kabul international airport + a uav at maybe 1000m above ground checking for something + non native english speaking uav pilot, non native english speaking (afgh) air controller via radio

i THINK i may know what this is. i was watching the show "mayday" on discovery channel and it was about an a300 DHL cargo plane that got hit by a terrorist missle on the outer part of the wing. this looks like it. the plane landed okay. but im not 100% sure this is it. it might be.

Good try. I know the story you are talking about, it was shot with a shoulder fired SAM. There are no shoulder fired SAMs that have color broadcast video. Hehe At least not yet that I know of. It's a drone/UAV/RPV or RC airplane of some type. I even remember seeing that apparatus out in front. I can't remember for sure, but it is something like an antenna, skid, or camera guard.

It seems kind of unusual in that it does not have any markings that I can identify. It does not seem to be edited out. It appears to be an airliner because it has windows. I am not sure but it does not seem to have any obvious markings. That makes me think it's probably not a commercial aircraft. I suspect it is a military aircraft with very subtle markings. Or it is a dreamland flight.

An RPV plane is essentially an R/C plane. What are typically called RPVs are usually professional or military and are usually piloted using real-time video feed. Most RC aircraft are piloted visually from the point of view of ground.

I found out it was a near miss, it didn't damage the airliner, but the wake turbulence crashed the UAV. I added the info to the video details.

I recon its a fake. The airline looks like a Boeing 767 INFACT, if that was an RC plane it would have been sucked into the engine of the airliner.

Its very sketchy as there are only 3 or 4 frames in this video. More would be helpfull.

I do not know what the after effects are. I suspect it was a miss but I am unsure, it looks like it was at least close enough to be caught in the wake. I have had a one person tell me it was in Afghanistan, however I do not know if his claims are credible, however it seems to fit the profile.

It could have been some soldiers flying and RPV survey mission or patrol, that accidentally got in the way of an airliner (that was probably military).
