  • zegapain?...looks cool :)

  • Elfin lied's manga is way better

  • Did you sneak a look at my anime list cause all those are my favorite.

  • Elfen Lied is probably my favorite anime!

  • Your voice......it deeply disturbs me...

  • elfen lied is good

  • pull it out of their WHAT?

  • elfen lied there called diclonions and its made in a real place karakura

and thanks fr the prunonceation of it

  • toward the terra

was really awesome XDD i really loved it ^^

thanks for telling awesome anime <3

  • What is the name of that mecha anime at #18? I think you should include written names of the animes you review otherwise confused anime geeks like me will get......confused.

    Otherwise, brilliantly reviewed =]

  • @emporthasym 18 is Zegapain.

  • its not said elven leed its said elfen lied

  • well avater is a amercian made anime not a japness anime

  • you know there also amercian anime like avater: the last airbender

  • @gamesbyjet Avatar is anime inspired.

  • I just finished watching 17. Toward the terra, and I have to say, you guys HAVE to watch it, it is an amazing show.

  • all now and then here and there this is the first list i have seen it on

  • No offence but u said Elfen lied wrong =P u said lead

  • i dnt remember wat vid its on but in higurashi no naku koro ni r the first 4 episodes diffenent from the rest b/c i was watching it on animefreak and on the first 4 episodes seem 2 be its own version. is tht right or r thy just in the wrong order?

  • @kikstar45 The series tells certain events from multiple perspectives and so it jumps around a bit.

  • @neverchris oh ok thx the fact tht thy died then were alive and one had a twin really messed me up

  • 20-never heard of it, sounds like something I would like though

19-*shudder* that anime gave me nightmares

18-wow. the name isn't cliche AT ALL T_T

17-never heard of it, sounds good

    16-Hm. I might like this.

I like how you actually explain what the shows are about and what is good about them. Most top anime lists just list the shows in order with no other explanation other than genre. This is very helpful.

  • elfin lied is awsome yet sad.

  • i love elfen lied :)

  • How do u spell number 16 in the Vid

  • @XPulseZeroX Noein

  • @neverchris thx

  • bro thx for this

  • starts up like a normal shounen? elfen lied? the hell?

  • @animekidbleachnaruto While there is that very opening scene, the beginning is drenched with quite a few shonen troupes that throw you a little off-guard.

  • I have never seen the anime from 18 to 16

  • no naruto bleach inyuasha full metal alchemist wtf dude wut about big o

  • @jarenrivera well, Naruto hasn't really concluded yet so you cant really review the whole series. The series can go anywhere by now, it can end up totally sucking balls... or it can end up being the best anime ever in the history of man-kind... who knows?

  • You forgot to mention the nudity in Elfen Lied lol.

  • FOOLY COOLY! Uh, no, not THAT Fooly Cooly, FLCL. Look it up on YouTube. It's my favorite non-shonen jump anime/manga that isn't Dragon Ball Z or a Card game based anime/manga. Come to think of it, I don't really get any anime in my town that isn't Bakugan. That show sucks fucking balls. I miss Shonen Jump and Dragon Ball Z :''(

  • Now and then, here and there and also Elfen Lied are two of the amazing animes that I have seen, I have also seen Noien and I also enjoyed listening to the story of the animes that I have not seen. That Tears of Tiara sounds great too and perhaps I might want to view it someday.

  • elfin lied does NOT start out like an ordinay show!!!!! a butt naked chick in a lab with a metal helmet on who escapes and slashes all the security (in graphic detail) to peices and then gets head shot into the sea.....HOW DOES THAT EVEN REMOTLY SOUND LIKE ORDINARY SHONEN.

  • thanks for recommending some anime, really wanted to check these out

  • @neverchris akira is my favorate one.

  • I somewhat hope that Welcome to the NHK will be somewhere on the list, and hope Haruhi won't be

  • you have really cool taste in anime! :D i'm gunna cheeck some of thse out! thanks so much!

  • My personal top (not in order): Infinite Ryvius, Maison Ikkoku, Seikai no Monshou / Senki (all of them), Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo, Clannad (both seasons), Natsume Yuujinchou (both seasons), Zipang, Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight!, Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu (the TV series are good, but this movie is just fantastic; I don't like classify things saying "it is perfect", but for this movie I have: it is the first perfect piece of art created by the humian being; I'm serious) and Touch.

  • Elfen Lied is very avarage, in my opinion. Generic characters and plot. Very mediocre. Toward I wachted the first 4 episodes and then dropped it. Didn't like it. The rest (Now and Then, Zegapain and Noein) are good shows, but wouldn't put them in my personal top 20. They are good, but nothing something really special.

  • elven lied is pretty interesting, but is really effed up at times.

  • MOTHER FORNICATING HELLSING

    MOTHER FORNICATING HARUHI

probobly berserk (haven't watched it yet)

  • Elen lied is, possibly my fave anime ever. But, its your list, and at least its on there.

  • Code Geass, One Outs and Death Note

(Maybe Monster) Should be on your list

  • Out of the list so far, the only Anime I had the chance to see completely is N&T, H&T. (I seen the 1st episode of Elfen Lied, and 1-3 episodes of Noein)

N&T, H&T is probably one of better anime I've seen. Visually, it feels like it mixes elements from the early-mid 90s to a more recent style. But the plot and characters is where the series is strongest, it was surprisingly unpredictable in how things would play out, and the characters actually developed as the story progressed

    Good list so far

  • Now and Then, Here and There was incredible.

  • very good and diverse list so far. with all of the sci fi shows you've been mentioning, i highly, HIGHLY recommend an anime called casshern SINS that is on funimation's website for free streaming. it's a remake of a 1960s anime, but it's seriously one of the most interesting, atmospheric, and intellectual stimulating anime I have seen in a very long time. it's a little slow at first, but the payoff is definitely worth it. :)

  • Awesome list so far! The only one I've seen is Elfien Lied, but I want to check out the others sometime. Thanks :)

  • By far, one of the better top anime/manga series countdowns I've seen in a while. I like how literally all of these entries are ones I've personally never heard of, yet seem so interesting.

  • Cool stuff, the first one is the only one that interests me though. I'm checking it out right now!

  • Wow.. these first 5 where a lot better than I expected. Nothing like my top 20 would look like (Now and there, what ever you called it, would be on the list though, maybe), but still, quality shows. Was expecting those DBZ-esc shounen shows that go on for ever like Naruto, and that other one the kids these days are into.

Though I'd like to point out that Elfen Lied is some of the most forced crap I've seen all my life and that I absolutely hate it with all my might of justice for judgment.

  • ...Could you put a text version of the list in the description, or add annotations? I wanted to check those last two out, but I guess they're not spelled how I thought they are, because I'm not finding anything.

...Also, you seem to be leaning toward more psychological storylines. I'm looking forward to the top fifteen.

  • @ChesuMori I've added annotations.

  • @neverchris Thanks!

  • If it's your favorite things from Japan, what about video games?

  • All are very good except for Elven Lied cant stand that show it tries to hard to be "new" but its just a gore fest. Characters are alright. but so glad someone else knows about Now and Then, Here and There

  • I hope Romeo X Juliet is somewhere on this list >w>

  • As long as I don't see another "slice-of-life"-high school-love story-harem anime, I approve.

I might watch these anime after I finish Shakugan no Shana 2 (this anime sucks atm. I'm at episode 10). The anime you listed might help me get back into anime again. Most of the anime I find or I get recommended turn out to be shit, but I imagine that is because the popular animes in america are the typical shonen crap, and anime fanboys in the US are all like-minded (read: stupid).

  • @TrappedInAlaska Shana should have been so much more awesome than it actually was.

  • lol, something tells me Bleach and Naruto won't be in this list...

  • Oh boy Elfen Lied... MUST RESIST URGE TO TROLL. Though I completely agree with Now and Then, Here and There that would be in my top 10 personally.

  • If toonami was to return these shows should prem

  • looks pretty good so far. I've only seen now and then and elfen lied and i really enjoyed them.

  • only seen "now and then" ..freken awmazing

  • Im definetly going to check some of these shows out.. The only problem is, how the heck do you spell all shows names? I mean, it would be really awesome if you put the names of the animes and mangas in the video or in the description.

  • @TheJammerRO I've annotations to the video that will show how they're spelled.

  • Interesting picks. I'll have to check them out (even though I'm into old school from the 80's and further back, XD).

  • @yewles1

Ahh geez i cant stand that old type of stuff >.<

  • Nice to see not much of anything too mainstream so far, personally wasn't that big a fan of Elfen Lied though I can see how others might enjoy it. Hoping that Monster makes the list later on.
