  • if you gies need any software of any sort i got it just msg me on my yt channel and ill give you the link also checkout my intro i made

  • can anyone tell me if avchd is ulead video studio 10 plus compatible?

  • If you're on Windows, I guess you could also edit and encode AVCHD content using apps like MeGUI, or MultiAVCHD. It wouldn't bee too easy, however.

  • Useful - thanks!

  • windows 7 home premium

    4.1 rating

AMD athalon tm ii x4 630 2.8 ghz

    ram 4. gb 3.75 usable

    64 bit

    (quad core)

graphics card: ATI radeon hd 4200

i intend oin doing action scene editing and gunshot/explosion stuff

  • Since when does Sony Vegas support AVCHD? I have it and it doesn't :(

  • imovie 08 was horrible.

  • Hello

  • Haha wow! so much has changed in 3 years, 4gb of ram is common in all computers nowadays. Got love that technology LOL!

  • @SuperFernando2007 Lol no kidding, I had 4gigs back in 07 and I thought I had the best lol. Now not so much =P

  • Does the Mac support all of these softwares?

  • AVS Is good :]

    see my test

  • Awesome, you supported my decision to go with pinnacle. Hope to see an udated version of this video.

  • Thanks for the good quick comparisons.

  • BTW - upcoming release of trakAxPC Video Editing software will support AVCHD.

  • Apple has intentionally suppressed AVCHD support by locking out GPU API for AVCHD (MTS/M2TS) decoding.

Hence, your Canon, Sony, Panasonic, Sanyo etc. will not work on a Apple.

    Why?

1st - Because with GPU acceleration even a older 2008 laptop can edit a HD video fast. And it would hence, give value and longer life to older computers. 2nd - Because Blu-ray uses AVCHD, and Apple sees Blu-ray as its enemy to iTunes movie.

Hence, Windows, or even Linux is a better video platform then Mac OS X.

  • @dinnerandashow

    .

    Solution:

For everyone complaining about how their CPU cant process or even play AVCHD files, it's true. A CPU lacks the horsepower to decode and encode in real time.

Try Super Loiloscope. Its the only video editor that fully supports GPU acceleration for both decoding and encoding. Its about 10x to 20x faster depending on your video card. It works with Nvidia/ATI cards, not with Intel's embedded GPUs.

For playback only Cyberlink PowerDVD player 10 supports GPU acceleration.

  • @dinnerandashow I have Power Director 8 Ultra and it supports GPU too

  • @adriebm

Yup, after I pressed enter I realized there were two companies.

Actually a 3rd if we consider the feeble efforts of Adobe and their support for only high end Nvidia Quadro cards (great cards but expensive).

  • @dinnerandashow Yep very expensive

Im happy with my gts 250

    its fast

  • I can remember when i first got my panasonic HD camcorder and i couldn't find anywhere that told me how to use the format lol.

  • Great info. This is what we need to know, cuts to the chase.

  • I have a Panasonic HDC-HS300

Updated my machine to i5, 3gb ram, 1tb HD, Nvidia Gforce gts250.

Bought power director 8 and Adobe Premiere Elements.

It was a waste of money believe me.

Power Director 8 is the best of all but needs some updates.

Premiere Elements take a lot of time and resource.

    My tip

    Get away from AVCHD

  • AVCHD editing is virtually impossible on a Duo Processor Pc with 2 GB of Ram.

  • pinnacle 11-14 dont work verey bad crashs

ulead 14 can edit but not burn to blue ray

    soney vegs 9 pro 500$

adobe elements dont use with xp media errors are end less

  • sony vegas only edits sony cams avchd not like canon avchd

  • A little disappointing that a video about AVCHD editing should be out of focus and have very poor sound. :-)

  • Läauf auf wechen Netbook ?

    Grpße Martin

  • I have recently purchased an AVCHD camera and at first I was extremely happy and thought how great it is to have an HD camera....UNTILL I tried to do anything with it. If u want to edit the footage it starts a huge problem and to me any camera beign sold with AVCHD shoud have a warning sticker. Why should consumers b forced to buy yet another product (software) just to do some thing as simple as edit. AVIOD AVCHD CAMERAS, save up an extra 2 or £300 and buy a better camera

  • @buggerbuns I hate it too. Editing AVCHD is a resource hog and I am forced to try new editing programs. I hate it! I am going back to miniDV.

  • thanks for the upload

  • Tip: Next time - sample clips'

  • Hands down...

Adobe CS4 is the most powerful multimedia software today...

  • but man oh man is it confusing haha. love it though

  • Guys FYI... This video was uploaded 2 years ago... For sure by this time almost all the editing software can edit your AVCHD with the right hardware...

  • what did you have in August 2007 then?

  • i had a macbook pro

  • i dont know any one who has a comp as powerful as mine ??? fail my 8 core mac pro with 8-gigs of ram will rape his comp and final cut studios altho a little expensive is the best video editing software its used from home video to holly wood post production

  • While mostly correct, I can probably edit the same footage using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 on a Core i7 950 (which is quite cost efficient), with one of nVidia's Quadro series for boosted editing performance for about the same price, and look just as good.

  • he doesn't know you. dummie

  • can you guys help me, i would like to buy camcorder with hard drive but to be able to burn footage on 4.7 gb dvd disc and watch it on my 1080 hdtv in high def like movie i rent from red box, i understood if i get avchd camcorder i have to burn it on blu ray disc which cost $15 each and i have to have blu ray burner on my computer which i do not and do not want to spend that much money on blu ray disc, i want use 4.7 GB dvd disc so what camcorder to go with looking to spend @ $700, Thank you.

  • i need a good vvideo editing program..windows movie maker isint what i want..so if you have any ideas please tell me.oh and i need the program to be free

  • i need to convert HD to ntcs but i dont want the final video in widescreem

  • pinnical studio 11 cant save the files and

ulead video studio 11 plus cant read avchd!!!

  • AVCHD SUCKS!! Why do they keep using this codec in new cameras?? People at my store return these crap cams 3-6 times a day. absolutely Rubbish and choppy pictures full of artifacts.

Take my advice stick with HDV. Tape. It has a fast bitrate and better picture.

  • AVCHD is the future of video codecs. HDV is dead. AVCHD started out in consumer cameras but has now moved into more professional cameras like Panasonic's HMC150. HDV is mpeg2. Which was designed for delivery of DVDs. Canon and Sony just engineered a way to capture it to tape. AVCHD was designed for image acquisition. The choppy pictures and artifacts from the cameras being returned are due to a small chip in the camera, not the codec. AVCHD will soon replace HDV tape cameras.

  • No need to by or pay anything : just try SUPER !

Visit my sample test page, you will have a simple export for AVCHD compatible with Windo Movie maker !!!

    ;-)

  • lotus where do i find you

  • Thank you for the overview, I've been stressing over the fact that I couldn't figure out how to get my AVCHD recorded videos onto either my mac powerbook (not the new intel) or compaq laptop. I realize now that I have to purchase one of the software pkges reviewed here and get a more powerful intel desktop. I'm still totally disappointed that my older version imovie cannot import and edit AVCHD!

  • Thank you so much for this help! I use Windows Movie Maker but it doesn't allow me to put AVCHD on and I had given up on it, but now I know there is software out there, I am really excited to get it!

  • Vegas is the best!! So much features for the price. Its fast too! Adobe now support AVCHD.

  • I agree!...the older iMovie is a pleasure to use, especially in editing "Audio" which I've always found pretty easy. So, even though I've got the newer Imovie, I still only use the older iMovie.

  • Great review! Thanks. Will you recommend a Canon Vixia HF-100 with Pinnacle 11 to produce web videos with high definition?

  • my laptop that i'm on now has 4 gig of ram and 2.44Ghz

  • wow, do you want a clap or something?

  • I agree that iMovie is a horrible horrible program. But, that is why they have Final Cut Express which is for advanced users. I do agree that they should incorp back the old things that iMovie 07 had but you had a choice of the level of difficulty.

  • or if your serious get final cut pro

  • patrickmannning use youtube downloader to convert wmm

  • Great comments!! Great help!! The new iMovie SUUUKSSS!! and so ADOBE/PREMIERE!!

  • Thanks Ed,

I found this very educational. I have a few of these programs but am a beginner so I wanted to see what I should be spening my limited time learning, especially after I looked at Vegas 8 tonight. It does look way too complicated And Pinnacle does look easier. I do have a powerful computer ie a Blackbird and I bought it mainly for this new hobby.

  • what about puting AVCHD into sumthing like WMM, anyhelp

  • ye, anyyhelp??

  • I have a q6600 and 8 gigs of ram, This stuff is so cheap now, It can't be considered a con.

  • you fucking tit.

  • lol

  • Nice! Great Help!

  • bla bla bla!!!! slow down man - you'll get a heart attack.

  • rofl your like 12 years old? shup insignificent kid, tell mum :3

  • how i can do to put my videos in youtube?? i got a video of 6 minute of panasonic SD9, and i been tryin to upload but i cant the firts time this took 2 haures and 30 minute and i coudent upload, so could u tell which one is the best way fot it?? please, and dont forget to tell to the name of ur sd card reader please, thank u

  • thx i hava a Canon,,,100..this will help

  • How about Final Cut Express and Final Cut Studio 6? They are by far the industry's best video editing software and easy to use, but very professional, and both support AVCHD formats.

  • This video is a year old. May be worth taking down or revamping to avoid misinformation.

  • Good advice!! Thanks

  • Thanks SOOOO MUCH!!! I have a Panasonic AG-HSC1UP and it only has a USB port which is accepted by the IMovie but NOT with the IMovie HD. Your workaround using the Imovie to to export to the IMovie HD was a revelation and, after spending 4 hours on just trying to get my vids on my G5, I finally declared victory! MANY, MANY THANKS!

  • I've tried Pinnacle Ultimate 12, Corel VideoStudio Pro XT, and CyberLing PowerDirect v7.

NONE of these products is usable. [1] You can't slip clips left and right on the timeline - they all slam 1st clip to 00:00:00, all take HUGE time to load (VideoStudio rescans all files every time you click on a clip, 5 minutes wait per click), support is non-existant. Corel publishes no phone numbers, you submit question via email, then get we "should" be able to get back to you within 2 to 3 days.

  • this was great. Does the vegas 7 or 8.0 pro support AVCHD?

  • I HATE AVCHD!!!!!!!!!!!!! I use Premiere and it doesn't support it...so I convert it through Vegas but what is a good format without a lot of degradation?

  • can Final cut pro handle the avchd format???

  • What is the best way to convert VHS to DVD?

Is there any difference in quality of DVD video made with MacBook and home DVD recorder like Samsung?

  • I want to edit AVCHD video and burn them on DVD disk without loss of quality (for playback on Blue-ray player). What software should i use? Pinnacle, Vegas or iDVD? When you starting a project in iDVD you can choose "Professional quality" encoding mode. Does it mean that it will be Full HD video for viewing on blue-ray player?

  • Informative, but beware of Pinnacle Studio, it has lots of issues when rendering AVCHD and can be very frustrating. I use Studio 12 as burn Blu Ray and have at the present given up as waiting for a fix for it. Found that PowerDirector is much more stable for this although does not have as many feature as Studio but is easy to use.

  • very informative, So to capture avchd footage on pinnacle I just do as if I was capturing from a mini dv tape? Does the computer figuere out that its avchd and not mini dv footage on its own?

  • The thing that puzzles me is why can't Sony and Panasonic use HDV on a hard drive camera.

If you have 30 gigs on the drive that's two hours plus. If you have 60 GB that's more than four. HDV is a great acuisition format for HD.

    AVCHD is not.

  • Couln't you import the footage in an AVCHD format into one of the above programs or Sony's lame included software and just export that clip into a more common format like MPEG2?

  • yeah but it will lose alot of quality

  • i got ulead 11.5 and it seems okay and easy but evrey time i play the clips wen im trying to edit it laggs alott and impossible to use wat can i do about this???

  • dude and final cut¡? don´t tell me that final cut doesn´t edit that new format of the new sony hd handycams avchd cos that will be very terrible please answer a soon as posible thanx

  • No--drag and drop AVCHD clips takes minutes, when transferring tape is in real time.

  • He said the advantage to tape is that AVCHD transfers in real time instead of waiting for a 1 hour tape that takes an hour.

Uh, isnt that the same amount of time for both formats???

  • dude, this was everything I needed to know. But why can't windows make something fucken compatable

  • ahhhhh i know!!! i just bought a camera with avchd and i filmed all this shit while i was away during the summer and i cant do anything with it, windows is just so much easier then all this other shit

  • I'm not trying to brag but I found Sony Vegas to be pretty easy to learn. It felt more like I had to learn general concepts that applied across effect etc. Sure it may take some people time - but I prefer vegas right now over any other software. My dream would be Adobe Premier that supports AVCHD. I find it unacceptable that they would ignore such a widely used video format - so F you adobe.

  • True, there's nothing like Vegas :)

  • dude this is the first comment i have ever left on YouTube and just wanted to thank you for your tech specs! I was an avid (not the company) old school video editor and jumped into HD via AVCHD and scrambling to find an application that will do the charm. You helped a ton thanks!

  • Same here bruhe and BK cashier. I've been an avid supporter of Adobe Premiere for the past 5 years and with them not supporting my latest AVCHD camera sucks big time! So now, I'm making the big switch to Sony Vegas! Thanks a lot for this video!

  • Thanks man i bot 3 days ago a Hg10 canon and it doesnt work on my vista so the problem is i need one of this programs to make a great edit beacuse it doesnt let me watch them its a lil bit desapointing to know this but anyway thanks for the tip dude

  • i agree with Alisaviola.

i have the sam prob :[ i always have to convert my footage and i cant stand it.

    any advise?

  • I have a Sony HDR SR7 with avchd format I download the trial version of ulaed 11 plus and I cant figure out how to get the vids recored in HD into the program. I am using... the picture motion browser (salfware that came with the cam) to get them into the computer but I don't know how to get them from there to ulead without converting them to mpeg2. Can you PLEASE help me out on this one. I would greatly appreciate it. :)

  • .m2ts is blue ray extension, so if you have a blue ray disc player & also the disc burner, you'll probably never need to convert the avchd format into anything else. HDR-SR7 is quite good.

  • Yeah so...Can Macs read the SOny data?

  • iMovie 08 can, and so can Final Cut Express 4. I hate the new iMovie, and recommend transferring the Sony footage to the new iMovie, and then transporting the file to the old iMovie HD for editing.

  • damnnn... Good Jobbbbbb...!!! i was looking for this... and uhh... i got almost the same pc as urs... the only thing that mines is red... lol

  • rofl

  • i dont have a pentium processor i have a athlon processor is that good?

  • ok pentacle 11 huh ? do you work for Pentacle

  • How can I get my hands on one of these programs?

No one is my area sells any of them...

  • Thx man!I'ma try vagus out..

  • thank you so much!

  • Very helpfull, Thanks
