  • @decimusawsumus he is in the major league in the Seattle mariners

  • @awesomenerd118 he was being sarcastic. retard.

  • this guy's got a weird stance, he'd never make it in the majors

  • Wow, he's swinging pretty hard.

  • His swing is the same in all of them, its the approach to the swing that changes.

  • He could have been the all time hits leader by now if had gone to MLB earlier.

  • Can u hit like ICHIRO in High School??

  • one thing's real consistent, contact

  • look at his earlier stance, the first one inhis video. As he gained experience and developed his balance he removed his inital back ward step and simply started dangling his leg, i used to do what he was doing at 0:05 and still am simply because it requires great concentration and tremedous balance to have a one step inward leg kick

  • @ksingh29 Nobody cares what "you" used to do in Canadian little league Dick! XD

  • @seattlehawkins...so let me get this straight, you read my comment, didnt care for it but took some time out to respond back to it? are you from the south?

  • @ksingh29 nah i totally agree with the other guy, who gives a fuck about what you used to do

  • Dang!! He got a hard batting form

It looks like he is pitching when he bats

  • ichiro lifts his leg like he's going to pitch, but hey he kicks asssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • cougharoidcough

  • Holleywood, first of all, I don't think anyone is planning on taking expert knowledge from someone with a typo in his name.

And you obviously know nothing on anabolic steroids. Ichiro is scrawny, and steroids make you huge.

  • Um, you obviously don't know how to read, or are out of touch with modern language. A roid = A rod, not Ichiro.

  • So you're talking about Arod on an Ichiro batting form video.. chyeah that makes a truckload of sense :)

  • best ball player in the majors right now

  • His step to the ball is garbage for as well as he hits, Must hav a long bat

  • he is my favorite baseball player! YEAH!

  • @6then9 Me too!

  • ichiro is the best baseball player of all time he can hit, run, catch, throw and if he wants he could hit for power great video

  • LOL Lies?!?!

He got a .469 batting average once!

He can throw, catch, run, and most of all, BAT!!!

He's japan's superstar and the icon for Japanese baseball!

  • hes saying all time globally

  • ah ok, then hes wrong.

  • Ichiro is a good candidate to be in the discussion of being best all time.

Out of the 5 tools, Ichiro has 4 tools. Defense, Speed, Hitting, and the Arm.

Of course there are 5 tool players like A-Rod out there... But if you compare A-Rod's 4 tools compared to Ichiro's 4 tools. I think Ichiro is better.

Ichiro at least deserves to be in the discussion of being one of the best baseball players of all time.

  • I guess so...i mean, he was probably the best in japan, and one of the best in America.

  • dude he has so much power. just watching him in batting practice. he hits home runs like theiy're nothing. he's got 20-25 maybe even 30 hr potential if he feels like it.

  • Actually Ichiro is pretty much a 5 tools player. He's got the power to hit it out of the park and does it occasionnally.

He just chose bat control over power to play his role as a leadoff batter better, and it works.

Besides, strikeouts and homers are not everything about baseball and i would rather contribute to a 10 run rally than hit a grand slam.

  • He can't use all of those 5 tools at the same time, so he is not a 5 tool player.

He can hit it out of the park, but he can't do it on a regular basis, unless he sacrifices all those base hits.

He will either hit for power, or hit for average. He can't do both at the same time.

  • He did when he was playing in Japan, just look at his stats when he was playing for the orix blue wave.

He hit above .300 and more than 20 homers almost every season.

  • Ichiro only had 2 years where he hit more than 20 hrs a year, and he only hit 25, 21 hrs those years.

You can look at his career stats in japan, his BA is 30 points higher in Japan.

And hitting 20hr doesn't make you a power guy. When you hit 30+ consistently, and it's expected of you to hit 30+ every year, then you're a powerguy.

  • Aw you get me there -_-

Ok he isn't a power hitter, but he kicks arses nonetheless.

A-Rod is a jack of all trades, master of none.

Ichiro may be the best when it comes to contact, fielding, arm and speed (well, maybe not speed but he ranks pretty high in it). Isn't that enough to make him better than most power beasts?

  • Don't knock A-rod down. I think Ichiro's 4 tools are better than A-Rods. But A-rod isn't a slouch himself.

A-Rod is a guy that has won a batting title, has lead the league in HRs and RBIs. And was a 40/40 guy.

Does Ichiro's ability make him rank higher than most power beasts? Yes of course, I can name a few already, like David Ortiz, Jason Giambi, Carlos Delgado, Jason Bay etc. the list can go on.

I'm a fan of Ichiro's, but I respect other players as well.

  • I'm not saying that A-Rod sucks but somehow he just pisses me off. It feels like he's only playing for himself. And besides he's veeeeeeeeeeeeeery arrogant.

I mean, why did he leave seattle just when ichiro came to the majors? Those two may have won the World Series Ichiro deserves along with junior and johnson.

The mariners manager at the time was a complete idiot.

  • this guy has amazing form. just look how he uses his momentum to push the ball out

  • Its like his pitchin with that form!

  • he dont really flip his hips that much but amazing hands

  • because he is too good...

  • stance dif but swing same

  • Wow you're a dumbass

  • If this guy started off in MLB then I don`t have any doubt that he would have at least 3500 hits. Of course though, no coach in the u.s. would have ever taught him to hit like he does. This is probably one of the best pure athletes in baseball, or any sport for that matter. This guy is only 172 pounds and yet if you listen to any mariners game you can hear the announcers talking about how he hits homeruns in bp at will.

This is truly a legend, a hall of famer no doubt....and he is only 34.

  • It's not so much the stance that changes, it's how Ichiro moves into the ball. You can clearly see how he has a longer stride into the ball from 1995-2000 when he changed it to what he currently does, which is that unique swing where he's out of the batter's box as soon as he makes contact.

  • At 25 it looks like griffey, though with less hand waving.

  • his swing in 95-96 kinda looked like mel ott's swing, except ott would swing the bat down first, while ichiro just kicked his leg.

  • Why do you keep saying that on Videos of ichiro? stop talking.

  • What??? Why would you say that to me? When someone says something is "bad ass" = VERY COOL. It is slang. I like Ichiro. Understand? People gave me thumbs down because they misunderstood me.

  • the numbers appear the top right conner indicate the year. this video shows his form change over the years back in japan.

  • looks like the same stance to me. just an unbelieveable hitter

  • he used to hit in the middle of the lineup

  • Albert has to be the biggest retard in world history. Is a boxer a sissy because he dodges a punch? No! It's part of the game. get with it you retard.

  • dude if you get 200 hits in 7 staright years and break the hit record you can do whatever the fuk you want. Also moving away from the pitch as it comes in gives him an extra step toward first.

  • that is so true. lefties have that advantadge. if they bunt they can face the bat towards first and then they have a lead to first. oh and the thing about him changing his stance is not true. it looks the same to me everytime

  • a samurai would be a badass hitter

  • lol

  • I think we can all agree that albertweska is a big idiot.

  • AGREED!!

  • LOL... hes not "jumping away" when its pitched to him, hes jumping towards first base. Lets see you hit an infield single in the big leagues.

  • Yes, it is a reflex reaction for Ichiro to start running before the ball makes contact with the bat, ;-)

  • もっと続きが視たいです。

  • He is the best ever

  • How is that bad? I bet i can strike u out throwing underhand.

  • ur such a fuckn retard

  • ichiro is the best lead off hitter in baseball.

  • Albert=the most retarded person ever. +1

  • what a limited mindset to reduce possibilities in sport down to sissy vs. macho. paaaah!

  • yeah he's a sissy for moving away from a pitch thrown at him, duh, you're suppose to get out of the way! Yeah he's a sissy, let's see you hit a ball as far as he can.

  • It's called form, you ignoramus. Anyone who watches baseball sees that every single batter has some sort of action, movement, swing or kick that they do once the ball is released and approaching them. This is where you have to focus all your energy into the bat hitting the ball. If you have bad form, you won't even hit it past the pitcher.

  • That's generally how left-handed Japanese batters hit. They move their body into their hit so that they already have motion towards first base, because it allows them to get there faster. Kosuke Fukudome does the same thing, and for the most part, so does Hideki Matsui. And uhhh, I'm pretty sure a career .331 hitter is pretty damn WOW good. What's your career batting average again? I didn't catch it the first time.
