@reviewsnake Just so that anyone who might be interested these models of guitar can see how they possibly compare when used to try and play the same solo - I have found it interesting to hear peoples comments.
@sowast cool, im getting a new guitar and i don;t know if i should get a gibson les paul faded studio, epiphone les paul plus top standard, or prs santana which do u think. also nice playing i tried to learn that song and it is extremely hard
@reviewsnake Hi, thanks for your comments. And If I were you I would choose the PRS Santana (I assume you mean the SE version!) no hesitation, the PRS SE guitars are brillaint, however I must say that I think the Gibson LP Studio does have amazing sounding pickups - It's all about balancing sound, feel, looks, price, vibe....get what just seems right for you..
Man, I just watched another video of you with a Real Nice Les Paul...you got a strat too! Ok, you look like a business guy but I bet your some kinda Little Ninja Bank robbing 007 dude! Spend some time practicing instead of making money! LOL!
@rocknwill003 Hi, yes I totally agree, the timing could be lot better - I was trying to play it the same as the original record - but this makes it very easy to spot the faults!
To answer your question, this is a 2005 model Standard Mexican Strat, in Blue Agave.
@MrCauliflower If that is the price in the USA, then it sounds fair to me. I know a new one costs £383 here in England which is about $616 USD - So with the 2009 improvements then compared to some other choices for that amout it seems OK.
Great Man I Bet You've practiced it a little more i know it's sounding better congrats that guitar in which you're playing is in my personal the best guitar!.
hi!, man i don't know what i buy!!!! i wanna a fender standard or gibson studio, but i dont know, the sound is next. i like mark knopfler and eric clapton, but also guns n roses, led zep.... I'm very confused... fender is confortable, gibson too.... gibson is more beatiful, but the sound metters more. i have a squier california... please help xD!
@TwinsenMinothar Hi, The problem is that these guitars ARE all so different - which is why I've got more than one!! But as you and already had a Squier, then I would say look at the PRS SE Custom as a second guitar rather than a Gibson Les Paul - They are very high quality and are far more comfortable to play. The PRS will get you all the classic mahogany/maple/humbucker rock sounds.
@sowast I've been told that sometimes when you buy one of those fancy Gibson Les Pauls (which mine is just a Les Paul copy if you're familiar with Tradition Guitars), but I've been told that sometimes you're paying for the name more than the guitar. What is your view or stand point on that?
@TwinsenMinothar hey man just cause page played a les paul doesnt mean you need one or jsut cause clapton played a strat doesnt mean you need a strat to sound like him. Get somenthing you like man whatever feels good
@TwinsenMinothar I play guns n roses all the time on my strat, i don't need a les-paul for it. I Just put up some sweet gain on my marshall, get my neck or bridge pickup depending on the song and get my tone to 0, it sounds pretty much like a les paul honestly. And Strats are versatile : with the right settings u can play jimi hendrix, SRV, clapton aswell as Joe Satriani, GnR or Metallica
@lostlemming I must disagree, as I own both the guitars I can say without question the Gibson is much better built than the Fender. This Mexican Standard Strat has imperfections in the paint finish and the hardware is far inferior to that fitted on the Gibson. The Les Paul Studio is a 1991 and the Fender is 6 years old - maybe some other years at Gibson were not so good. However I actually I prefer to play the Fender to the Gibson, but it will never last as long before it falls to bits!
Ah well, maybe I just have a bad Gibson and a good Fender. I have a Mexican Tele which plays lovely and a Les Paul Standard which sounds awesome but was more expensive and doesn't feel as nice to play. I guess it's just down to opinion really.
I gotta be honest that really wasn't good at all.Whats really sad is that u thought it was good enough to film.I think you must of been drinking spirits when u posted this.
As it says in he info section: Played on Fender Standard Stratocaster (Mexican 2005) Bridge Pickup only, Roland Micro Cube amp, Marshall Guvnor pedal - Sorry, but I dont remember the actual settings.
thats the strat i want that lovely lack placid blue with a maple neck and fretboard its so fuckin beautiful, man it sounds great great job i like how you did one song with 3 diffirent guitars to show how diffirent each guitar is u put up some covers or some original songs but you got talent dude
Hi thanks for comments. But it's not actually Lake Placid blue, it is Blue Agave, which is slightly lighter. I think they might have discontinued it now.
@acusticelectricbenny I have just had this guitar! its bloody fantastic got it as a christmas persent sounds brilliant and doesnt even go out of tune if u use the whammy bar. I am going to fit this guitar with my fave pickups Lindy Frallin Blues Specials!
Congrats on nice present! I also got mine as a present - You will love it. Hopefully you can play better than me. I'm happy with the stock pickups myself.
I must say the pickups are very loud. When i compared it to my Epiphone Les Paul custom i couldent believe it. I had to turn the volume up so much. The strat could be put in an art museum its so beautiful. I was also thinking of putting Lace sensor gold pickups in it but im not sure whether i should. What do u think Lace sensor gold or Lindy Frallin Blues Specials?
I hope i am not as good as u i am only 13.But just for a bit of friendly competition i will post a video of this amazing solo myself using my strat.I will probably post it within the next week so people check out my channel for the vid. Thanks
The tone and the tuning was right on. Some mistakes but this is not that easy to play. Your strat has a nice voice for the lead of this song. Well done!
I want this guitar so bad, I have right now a Slash epiphone les paul, but I want to try out some new tones with single coil pickups and this guitar seems great.
Thanks, I am quite pleased with the tone on this video myself - even if the playing could be better! No I have not tried a Highway one strat. But I have tried an Eric Clapton signature strat, and that is AMAZING!
I watched all three (nice guitars!) and think the Strat wins the contest. Much more sustain and obviously a faster neck to play on. Maybe it's cause i am partial to the strat, though.
Thanks, but I find the Strat is hardest to play some chords on as it has longest scale length. However this solo is quite far down the neck so the difference is not noticlable here. The Gibson is maybe easiest to play this solo on - In spite of my fluffed notes!
Hi, Yes, It is the Mexican Standard Strat 2005 version. Cost was about £295 in UK. Strung with 9-42, there is absolutly no fret buzz - It has a very very good neck and pickups sound like a start! Only weak area really is the poor quality of the trem block metal as it gets easily worn by the trem arm screw.
Thanks for your comments. I have other 2 versions of this on youtube - on Les Paul and on PRS SE, both recorded through same amp and settings so you can compare the different guitars. Cheers. Sowast.
your bending is out of tune

Gibson - heavy (weight) - dark sounding - poor build quality - good sound but overpriced.
The studio is a pretty crappy guitar as far as Gibson goes.
Fender - lightweight - bright sounding - better build quality than Gibson - nice sound and cheaper.
I'd buy the Fender anyday :)
