Is it true that di866 does not recognize crop sensors and change the zoom to match. This means that although the Di866 has a higher guide number that extra flash power is wasted illuminating the area outside the image area.
Im thinking of buying one of these for my canon 450d, but can it be controlled by pocket wizards? I know it is a dumb question but I gotta be carefull cause this is some expensive material.
I am now in a war of choosing whether to buy the SB900 or the Nissin Di866.
I have a D3000.If i get this flash with a Tamron 70-300. If i reach to 200mm focal length or others which exceeds the limit(above 105mm focal range) , will the flash still fire?

Nissin's reliability is incredible. My father uses a Nissin flash (very old model) for 20 years. Dropped on ground for many times. It still works without any single problem. He took about 1500 photos using that Nissin flash last month.
That's correct, Darths. It responds to increasing/decreasing output of the flash from the camera the same way Nikon flashes do under CLS. It's a great flash.
I have this flash unit and it is very easy to use, works excellent with Nikon's CLS, is very powerful, versatile, and will give the over priced, confusing, SB900 a serious run for the money. This is a no-brainer for those not stuck on owning a name and the fuzzy feeling they get from paying too much money for a flash.
will this work with nikon d5000

The wireless mode is not just a dumb slave but the same thing the nikon CLS is?

its a very coooool colored menu....
the price is also interesting (here)..
the question now is, how its performance compare to 580 EX II...
Just4FunCommunity 2 years ago
where is a soundtrack!? :]
kidding.
grand intro of an interesting product, mate
I think to get a flash soon - but it this price range [uk] - I would rather go for canon 580ex II or even metz 58af-1.
This flash is little known and I haven't found any reliable test&review so far..
Maybe you, studio64?

does this flash is available now in canada and for canon mount?
kaloy26 2 years ago
I'm not sure about distribution in Canada (i'm from Europa) but Nissin should be available there also.
They didn't made any statement yet about a Canon mount for Di866, but i'm sure soon we will find out ;)
