Yes, some large churches do have these stores or atm's. I think they are wrong also, as would many Christians. I do not and will not attend any church that has these. These churches do however use those funds to benefit their ministry rather than personal gain. The pharisees used their funds for their own personal benefits (not God's). Are they selling livestock inside the church? Are they gambling in it? No, they are not.
I really want to hear your reasons for Jesus being a criminal. Other than His preaching the word of God. I want to know how Jesus broke the law so that everyone was after. You have not explained why you think he is a criminal except for His actions in the temple. Yet, you keep on saying that Judas was a law abiding citizen.
@halldan95 Even if having the market inside the temple was against the law, Jesus was not a Jerusalem citizen and had no right to take the law into his own hands.
But no, the markets were not illegal. The temple takes up like 5 city blocks and was the cutural center for the Jewish community. It was designed to have markets. Had the markets been against the law, the Roman soldiers would have arrested the marketeers, not Jesus. He flipped his lid, broke the law, and then rightfully arrested.
@doomrot Let me ask you something, how would you feel if people intruded into your home and started selling things, leaving livestock feces everywhere? I am sure you would be furious! Well, so was God, and His son Jesus stepped in and Intervened. I strongly suggest is that you educate yourself before attacking Jesus’ actions. You should really read the bible to familiarize yourself.
The pharisees were corrupt. They were lovers of money, hence, there approval of the marketplace in the temple. True men of God would not allow this. It was a desecration of the HOUSE OF GOD. Jesus was completely justified in His actions at the marketplace. And I’m sure that the marketplace was “like 5 blocks”. So why would they need to be in the temple selling livestock, etc? Why wouldn’t they stay in the streets?
@GodsMarine0351 "They were lovers of money, hence, there approval of the marketplace in the temple. True men of God would not allow this. It was a desecration of the HOUSE OF GOD."
Right. If you go to any mega-church you'll see stores (markets) and ATM machines (money changers). Why aren't those cast out of the House of God?
Anyhoo-this song is about Peter. I got them mixed up! Though I still maintain that the only law-abidiing apostle (Judas) got a bad rap for turning in a wanted criminal.
Jesus was not a criminal. The only reason that He was wanted was because the Pharisees did not approve of His claims to be the Son of God, which put Him on the same level as God.
@doomrot I do not know where you are getting your information from, but it is not correct. Jesus never told Judas to kill himself. Suicide is a sin and Jesus would never tell anyone to commit a sin, that would mean Jesus was helping Satan, His Father's enemy. Judas killed himself after the pharasees would not take back what they paid him for Jesus' reward. He killed himself because he could not stand the sorrow and guilt he felt for turning in his friend, the Son of God.
Jesus was a wanted criminal. He went in and trashed the local Jewish farmer's market. What he did was against the law.
So we have Judas, the one single law-abiding character in the bible, is now considered a traitor because he collected a reward for turning in a wanted criminal. Not only that, Jesus then turns around and tells Judas to kill himself.
I don't care if you're the Son of God or the Prince of Whales....if you involve me in a crime, I am NOT going to jail for YOUR stupidity.
I have the cd "Turn The Tides", and this song is on there. The best song on that album is "State Of Mind". It's disappointing the volume is disabled on most of 38th Parallels videos. What's worse is when a christian song gets its volume disabled then a secular song gets replaced onto a christian video (that's what happened to the song "Horizons".
38th Parallel actually recorded a cleaner version of this song for their LP Turn the Tides. You might try searching Rhapsody or iTunes for their music.
Is this group a late 90's group? I never hear of them anymore.
