I agree with simonpaquetoca - throughout the flight you had very favourable lift! A combination of excellent piloting, task tactics, and favourable lift sees this as a truly excellent flight!! If only conditions in the UK were so favourable (our cloudbase sucks!!). Keep up the good work!!
Although you can see clearly in the vid he decends a long way under the cloud base on a few occasions. Great flying, my only critisism it that when he hooked up the 10kt'r in the bowl near oxford peak instead of wandering around he should have cranked it over and aimed for the stars
@lhitchins Great point! I completely agree with you. I need to have the discipline to keep the hard fast rule that unless the rest of the flight is running the ridge over 100 mph you MUST stop and turn if the vario goes over 10 knots. Thanks for the good reminder. We all keep trying to figure out how to fly faster and farther. :) Bruno
@bviv What ever you were doing that day it seemed to be working. In the UK we usually get 4-7kts max and cloudbase is around 4000 - 6000ft, local airspace is usually from about FL55 up. So flying cross country here you climb to CB or thermal dies out set off, get low and repeat. Also it is very rare to see the whole sky going up as it appear to in your vid. Anyway great flying Bruno, my RAM mount arrived this week and I will have a new camera on order ready for the soaring season 2011!!
