That's incorrect. The missile warhead has an internal infrared focal plane assembly. The missile acquires it's target before launch, and does not sustain any link with the launcher thereafter.

well you're talking about the jav not the spike. Spire has an IR imager and actually has greater range than jav. please make sure you know what you're talking about before making such bold statements.

You can't attack what you can't see....and both weapons are direct-fire weapons, not indirect fire.

no true, spike can lock on after launch, so if you know there is a vehicle behind a hill you can launch the missile and then lock on to the vehicle once you can see it through the imager.

yes thats right. Data are being send by wire. And don´t be fooled guys these wires are extremely tough. I had wire from AT-4 and trust me it is imposible to cut it! (knife, axe...)

meankoko kidding right? Spike has greater range from 800-8000meters, jav 2500m, Idont know what is faster but it will be almost the same. Spike has ability to go over hills etc, jav has not! both jav and spike has attack mode from up and straight. The price is almost the same. If you ll be objective so u ll se that spike is better.

I think spike is much cheaper. Javelin is ultra expensive at least according to wikipedia. 75k per missile vs 8k for spike.

Javelin is suppossidly super duper advanced and with an ultra sharp IR imager. I don't think its a great system though. For the price effectiveness Spike is much better.

Actually Javelin = 75k, SpikeLR = 150k, Clu=150k (for both)...Javelin price is unitary official price, spike price is calculated form Spannish purchase one year ago and price contains spare lots, etc.

as I said javelin is official price and spikeLR is price from spannish purchase couple years ago.(but it contains spare lots and other costs!)(for example typhoons unitary cost is 65 million and cost in purchase with other costs is 120 million, so spike will be cheaper.)

Spike missile system is mucho bettero than US made Javelin! As it has constant feed back, and update capabilities, you can shoot one out, and then look for enemy formations from 400-600 feet above and decide where to hit them! look it up, there is a great clip of Spike in action...on u tube
