@GoldenStatePatriot The aluminum frame makes it easy to carry, but the finish chips and scratches very easily. I've never seen or heard of any fracture issues with this frame though.
So, now there's the Ultra+ CDP II that has the 3" barrel and full size frame... I'm in Commiefornia and it isn't on the approved list. Think this is still the best option?
@Bait4snake I really like the full sized frames and this combination works well for me. I think if I were to go to a 3" barrel, I would like to have the compact frame.
For a $1200 and up retail price, you shouldn't have to add a damn thing to that Kimber. I'd buy one if it was on sale for $900-950, but NOT for $1200. Ouch! That's just too much.
I agree. I went with the glock 30 and as a backup mag, the glock 21 mag. It has night sights and a light attachment. It is awsome and great for concealed carry. It cost me around 650-$700. Well worth it tho. Depends on your preference i guess:/
@buckwheat40 I first had problems with the first box of 50 rounds. I had two failure to feed, but it was during the break in period and was expected. Ever since, it has been running flawlessly.
I love the Kimber line. Someday, I have one (or more, I hope).
Nice looking handgun, friend. The Hogue grips actually don't look bad at all. I really like the contrasts of the CDP, with the black and brushed stainless parts.
I bought a Kimber super carry pro Friday, shot 50 hp today. I have 1 failure to go battery & 1 jam. Have you shot HP threw yours?? I notice my grips were a little loose, after I got done with my first 50rnds... I bought mine for $1250.00 also. Must be the going rate for Kimber these days...
@ls1dragracer Try the powerball ammo. They are basically a hollow point bullet with a polymer insert. Feeds through any 1911 that I've tried it on. Also they are very good self defense rounds. Sometimes the grip screws will come loose from the factory. Just a hit and miss sometimes with the Kimbers. I had 2 issues with FTE in my first 100 rounds. After that it was flawless and after nearly 1800 rounds, it still running strong. Good luck with yours.
@chanderson1 That makes me feel allot better, I've been shooting Glocks & sigs for the last 20 years... This is my first 1911... I hope it works out, it is more accurate than sig Or glock...
Great video, I Love the Kimbers, I enjoy the 3" Ultra Raptor 2 . They shoot better then Glocks, which is a huge statement. The trigger is incredible, plus the look of the gun is the best. Like you said " you get what you pay for"
i have a custom cdp II and it is by far the finest handling/ shooting gun i've ever owned. Kimber is an awesome firearm manufactuer and top of the line all the way. i have multiple glocks and berettas and this beats them all hands down for accuracy.
@jondans I completely agree with you. Although I've just started shooting glocks and once you get use to the triggers, I find them highly accurate as well.
its nice with the small trigger and the double taps, Maybe when i have enough money to shoot off like 500 10mm rounds (wich will run me like 200$) ill see how good i can get with it. And i kno my buddy would do comp shooting with me, Do u comp shoot?
Ok I have to call BS when I see it. No 10mm will kick less than a .22 unless it weighted 10lbs and maybe not even then. I have a friend who owns a 10mm in a 1911 and it kicks more than my Kimber Custom Crimson II.
Hi, I didnt have a magazine in it. I think you are looking at the Wilson Combat magazine well. I've taken it off since the video. I really wanted to keep it as light and compact as possible. I usually use Kim-Tac Pro 7 round for carry and a Wilson combat 8 round for spare mag.
Just wondering why do you keep the kim-tac pro 7 round magazine as your primary magazine over the wilson combat 8 round as the spare. Do you have better results with the kim-tac pro? I have 2 wilson combat 8rnd magazines. They don't even make a noise. I love em. I've never tried the kim-tac pro, but I was wondering what the 7rnd magazine has over the 8 rnd magazine
The Kim-Tac pro magazines sit in the well more flush than the Wilson combats do. I wanted to keep the grip length as short as possible with nothing sticking out of it. just mainly for comfort and reduce printing. I know its not much that sticks out, but every little counts.
Yeah the wilson combat does stick out a little more than I'd like it too, but thats the price you pay I guess for the extra round. I like to think it looks like a cell phone the way the WC mag sticks out a little extra. I'll have to check out the kim-tac pro mags
Thanks for the video. I went to look at a Kimber SIS Pro (I want all steel) and thought the quality was outstanding. Did yours come with a 7 or 8 round mag? Good luck with yours.
Hi, mine came with the cheapo 7 round kimber mags. I went and bought a 7 round KimTac Pro mag for it and also some 8 round Wilson combat 47D. The WC mags stick out just a bit past the bottom, but very slightly. I have had no feeding issues with these mags at all. Thanks for the comment!
Well, the time that I actually bought it, these were on back order in every store near me and nobody had it in stock. Its the price you pay when you want it right away.
Yeah $1250 was a little high, but prices have come up from last year at least $75. My dealer is asking $1199 for the SIS Pro. I can probably talk him down a few dollars, but that's it.
I paid about 1200 for mine as well. Gun shops around here charge a lot I've noticed. You'll be lucky to find the gun you want where you want at the price you want. Plus you could go else where, nobody will have it, and you come back and that gun is gone. You have to pay money for layway which I've done before.
oh wow, your from tampa? I've heard of shoot straight. I also have the cdp II. Got it at the firingline in port richey. I got mine for about 1200 as well. Did you buy it with those grips or did you switch from the rose wood. Also if you did switch what kind of grips are those.
Hi, I'm actually in Clearwater beach, but I usually go to the shoot straight in Tampa just because of the large selection they have. They do work with you on the pricing too. The grips are aftermarket Hogue. I currently have the finger grooved hogue on mine now and they feel very comfortable. Thanks for the comment!
I bough the same weapon and have had nothing but jam ups since first round. Took ot to a gunsmith and had the loading ramp heavily polished and a Wilson extractor. So far so good. I love the weapon but i woulld never buy another Kimber product
yeah man, i hear ya'. I have heard the same with others who bought the same. It's almost like a hit and miss with thess guns. I know people who have had nothing but trouble with it, meanwhile mine has been operating smooth ever since the break in. Anyways, it's my first 1911 and it's my first Kimber and my experience so far has been great. Take care.
How did you like it? I was a little scared at first with several failure to eject and failure to return to battery during the break in period, but now mine operates just flawless now. I've bench rested the pistol and it is suprisingly accurate with the 4" barrel. Hope you like yours.
Yeah, the traditionalists will not agree because most like the wood grips. I carry mine everyday and the grips are more utilitarian and provide way better feel to the gun. Wood grips look good on this gun i think, but I needed something more useful than looks.
Thanks! You'll love your Kimber. Just be patient with the break in process. Once it's broken in properly, the gun will work flawlessly. One of the most reliable guns I've had to date.
You will not be disappointed in a Kimber. I know there are people who are loyal to Colts and Springfield 1911s and I think they are great guns also. When you hold a kimber in your hands you will know what I'm talking about, espeically once you shoot one. Good luck and let me know if you do get one.
it has an aluminum frame.. i like this pistol but im not sure about the aluminum frame..anyone have any feed back? is it any good?
