@Chic01taliano The track is by Humans v Chimps and is called East of the Sun. It's not available yet but will be in 2 months from now. In the mentime you can check out Humans v Chimps debut single 'Shake It For Me"
Also, to set individual band threshold you don't have to enter each value. You can pull down each slider to the top of indicated meter peaks during one of the louder sections. This is a great plugin, one that I use regularly, but needs to be used properly to be effective. Until the master threshold is pulled down it's not really doing anything.
This compressor does not behave like a typical compressor, where you hear it working with only 2-3db reduction. It is much more transparent than that. In the manual it tells you to use the master threshold to pull down well into the blue area, so there is plenty of activity within that blue band. This is how it was designed. Nobody is hearing any difference because the final step is missing. The mid-band threshold settings should be well into -20 to -30db range for this type of music.
@BludStatic123 An MBC for each Track? That sure is unusual, but I will say, why not? There is no "normal" way. If it sounds good, that's all that matters.
I guess it all depends on the engineers taste...I that was the mix...then it already sounded good...and the rule in Engineering world is "not to fix something thats not broken". if it sounds good...it is good...but I personally wouldve gave the sound at least 2db of air at 9k....and a litlle 2db of fulness at 250hz...thats just what i felt wouldve made the track sorta wake up.
This is indeed a starting point. If you look at the Har-Bal Mastering tutorial, you'll see he goes further than that by doing more adjustments on the Master Threshold, Attack and Release and then individual adjust by ear.
There's not much of a difference cuz he's only compressing the top dynamics. Normally you would compress some bands more or less based on ur ear. To make the overall mix sound smooth and even
@glict You are indeed correct. This guide is a starting point. It is important to use your ears and adjust parameters further until the desired sound is achieved.
@Malmsteen1990 are you listening on decent monitors or through your computer speakers? Notice how the compressed sound is a bit tighter and smoother than the uncompressed sound. The trick with compression is to use as little as possible, just enough to iron out the sound without squashing the dynamics right out. You may want to read: What is a Compressor - on our site record mix and master dot com - for some further info on compression. Thanks for your comment.
@recmixmas I'm listening with headphones, but, really if you set the Threshold at almost the highest peak.. it will work?... I usually set up like.. -3dB from the highest peak, and i hear the diference. then i put the Ultramaximizer.
please make the music more quite
